Vector man 2 is the sequel to the genesis game by the same name without a 2. The game was supposedly good enough to warrant a sequel, despite a few issues. The sequel introduces new morphs weapons, and other such things, how does it hold up compared to the original? You'll have to look below to see. Story: After saving earth from the menace of Warhead, Vector Man returns to his job of dumping sludge into the sun, for some reason... you'd think saving all humankind from a robotic menace would warrant a vacation, but apparently not. On his return trip to earth, Vector Man starts head bobbing to some tunes, when out of nowhere a missile hits his sludge barge, and he's forced to abandon it. He's close enough to earth so that he didn't drift off into space, fortunately for him. However, on his descent he notices large insects flying around, and he shoots them out of the sky, when he reaches the surface he sees an abandoned facility that has been overrun by mutant bugs, which display a destructive nature and worse yet, appear controlled by some unseen intelligence. Vector Man takes it upon himself to save Earth once again. The story isn't as deep as the original , so the story ends up being a bit weaker than the original, but it's still a pretty okay plot. 6/10 Sound: The music in Vector Man 2 varies, some is great, some is lackluster, but something cool is many of the songs use insect noises, and the sound effects are quite satisfying. Unfortunately the genesis' limitations stop the music from sounding as good as it could have. I wonder how the game would have sounded is it was on the Super Nintendo. 7/10 Graphics: To put it simply, Vector Man 2 is the Donkey Kong Country of genesis, Vector man and some of the enemies are done in 3 D, and the attention to detail is incredible. All the level types look unique, and the enemies are quite varied. Vector Man 2 is probably the best looking game on the Genesis. It isn't as consistent in how good it's levels look as DKC however, certain level types just look plain boring, and the levels themselves usually follow suit, those being the roller blading levels and digging levels, and Shout n' Twist is just nauseating. Most of the levels are quite good however, and they all have a sense of personality, even those with the same theme stick out for how they're structured. 9/10 Depth: Vector man 2 isn't too long, but for completionists there's a lot to collect, so it can last a while if you want it to. 7/10 Difficulty: Vector Man 2 wouldn't be too hard, but the screen zoom makes it quite difficult to see enemies or where you're supposed to jump. It's not insanely hard, but you'll be quite challenged. A lot of enemies also seem to have "sweet spots" that will kill them in one or two hits, but they aren't visible, and are usually very difficult to hit, the prime example of this being the giant scorpion. Two of the bosses also have too much health for that part of the game, those two being the lava creature in scene 7, and Dark Fangs, from scene 8/10 Vector Man 2 is a solid side scrolling shooter, despite a few issues it's still enjoyable and could be considered a Genesis classic, if you're looking for something akin to Contra on genesis, this is a great way to go, just make sure you don't rush through the levels, because you won't see what's ahead. Final Score: 7.7/10 Story: After saving earth from the menace of Warhead, Vector Man returns to his job of dumping sludge into the sun, for some reason... you'd think saving all humankind from a robotic menace would warrant a vacation, but apparently not. I've been having fun on vizzed ever since I joined, but I haven't been on for a while. When I came back I saw the new version of the plugin was up, so I uninstalled the old one a and installed 2.0. When I try to play with the plugin it will say "Plugin Not Found" on all of my browsers, help would be appreciated. |

mohammedroxx3 : Thanks! Seeing somebody as high level as you saying the review is good makes me happy, you've obviously been on the site for a long time. I've actually recently discovered that levels 9 and 10 upgrade you further with Lancelot. Thanks for the support, I've been thinking about playing Secret of Mana recently and I'll probably review that sometime in the next week or two. I originally just did it to get some Viz, but I think I'll keep making reviews now. I hope to see you there. and ttags, this thread isn't a place to advertise your layout, if there is a thread related to them, I suggest you go there. And btw, I can't figure out how to edit my picture, I would appreciate it if you could tell me how, thanks. mohammedroxx3 : Thanks! You have probably heard of Arthur, Percival, Lancelot, Excalibur and the Holy Grail already. Have you ever wanted to be a knight of the round table? Then this game is for you, arcade style fighting action, medieval knights, and much more, what could go wrong? Well, let's delve into the review and find out, is the game as timeless as the legendary Excalibur, or will it fall into stories of a game, like dragons? Read on and find out. Graphics: The graphics of the game are quite nice, but I have seen better on the SNES, all the characters have great detail and the bosses are imposing and epic. The back round could look better, as most of the time it's simply a stone wall, tall grass, or some huts. The games best features are definitely the characters though, there is great detail and no sprite is recycled, with all attacks and movements having at least three sprites for the animation. The special effects look cool too, overall, the graphics look pretty nice, but could definitely have more to them. 7/10 Sound: The sounds are pretty cool for what it is, all the attacks have nice slashing noises and there are rewarding sounds when you pick up an item. Probably the best part in the sound effects department are the boss noises, Large bosses such as The Silver Emperor (3rd boss) and The Hammer (5th boss) have loud, powerful sounds when they attack or land after a big leap. A nice addition, I find is the satisfying cry of a defeated enemy or your victory cry after beating a level. In terms of music, it's nothing special, it's your classic medieval tunes, with imposing boss soundtracks and heroic tunes during the level. But it's up-beat and adventurous enough so that you will feel invigorated during combat and boss fights, and the victory tune after beating a level is?joyful and rewarding. Overall the sound, though somewhat clich?, is happy and cool, and gets the job done very nicely. (7/10) Addictiveness: Knights of the round is a very addictive game, to say the least. Though the combat may seem a little repetitive, there is a nice variety between the enemies and a drive to level up your character and save the day that makes the game very fun and addictive, as the bosses are very challenging and have patterns and behaviors, you continuously want to beat them, and that happens most of the time, since the levels themselves aren't all that challenging. High scores has nothing to do with the addictiveness of Knights of the round, it only has to do with saving the day, and defeating the forces of evil. (9/10) Story: Knights of the round has very little to offer in terms of story, the plot is that one day, while training to become a knight, Arthur draws the sword from the stone, Excalibur, and because of this, the wizard Merlin appears and tells him that he must find the holy grail to save the land and unify England under his rule. As the prophecy tells that the man who draws the sword from the stone is destined to be king, Arthur, along with his fellow knights of the round table, Lancelot and Percival, must journey and find the holy grail. The plot is very clich? and shallow, but it still has that heroic touch, so it gets a (4/10). Depth: Knights of the round table is not that long in terms of levels, it only has seven, but this is extended by it's difficulty, which I will mention later. Each level only takes 5-10 minutes to beat, so if you can get past the difficulty barrier it's not very long, though the game does have very nice replay value, aside from being fun, the game has three characters you can play as, as was mentioned earlier, Arthur, Percival, and Lancelot. Each of them have their own sets of stats and skills, with Arthur being the all-around defensive, Lancelot being the quick but relatively weak swordsman, and Percival being the offensive powerhouse, the three characters add some variety to the game and thus increase replay value. There is also a cool level-up mechanic included as well, by killing enemies or collecting treasure, you can gain points, but these points also count as experience, and by leveling up you increase your stats and change your appearance. Unfortunately you seem to max out your appearance at level four, and I am unsure of whether or not stats continue to increase after level 4, but this adds some motivation to level up. The enemy variety is quite nice as well, and the bosses each have their own corresponding strategies to beat them. Overall, the game is fairly short, but this is bolstered by difficulty and replay value. The last thing that aids it is that its two player, and it's honestly a lot more fun to play with a friend, so I am going to give the game a (8/10) Difficulty: Since the game was originally in the arcade, the game is quite difficult. The levels themselves are not too challenging, but the bosses are very strong, and most of them can kill you in 3-4 hits. The main problem with the game is that you cannot gain extra lives, and have a limited number of continues, each only supplying you with 2 lives. Though, as said before, the game is not very long, it is very hard and the inability to gain extra lives makes it tougher than it should be, so in terms of difficulty, it is quite hard. The only thing not making it a 9 is that having a friend play with you does not alter the games actual difficulty, so it will get a?(7/10). Overall Knights of the round is a very fun fighting style game that has lots of replay ability and provides a solid challenge. If you want a good time, grab a friend and set out to stop the forces of evil with a buddy. You have probably heard of Arthur, Percival, Lancelot, Excalibur and the Holy Grail already.
