I admit to not knowing anything about the Z77, but from what I see it looks like a very good choice in motherboards. I don't have any experience with that brand of ram (or friends who i know have used it) so I can't comment on that. That processor is Ivy Bridge. Yes you are right though, it doesn't make a huge difference. Overall it looks like a great build! I really think you are going to be very happy with it when it is finished.

earthwarrior : I don't think it would be possible. Site costs would sky rocket, and if I recall, david has said donations don't even cover costs now. Plus, even if they were added, as Jordan pointed out a typical computer wouldn't be able to run them very well.

Crazy Li : Well, if you are worried about adding more ram in the future, just get a motherboard that supports a lot of ram. Just cus a motherboard hs fewer slots doesn't mean it cant support a lot of ram. Here is an example (I'm not reccomending this motherboard, just using it to show what I mean) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157330 That mobo has 4 slots and supports 32 gb of ram max. Plenty of room for future growth. But as I said before, in the end it is your computer, if you feel more slots would be better then do that.

I personally use a desktop. I prefer them because they are easier and cheaper to repair, the desktop components are more powerful than the laptop ones, and dekstops are upgradable. I like the idea of being able to customize the hardware to my liking. Plus desktops are way cheaper than laptops, especially if you build them yourself.

As of now, I like windows 7 the most. It's basically windows vista done right. XP was amazing years ago, and was even better than vista in a lot of ways, but it is very outdated now. I have had very little experience with Win8, but from what I have used of it, I don't care for it (but that is probably me just not liking having to re learn locations of things and how to do certain things).

Crazy Li : Well honestly, unless you are doing high level video editing, I don't see why you would need more than 8gb of ram, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. I suggested the newer socket type because it will give you a bigger range of possible upgrades if you decide to do so in the future. I'll sit down tonight and try and find a few I think are good choices in your price range. Ivy bridge is just the type of i5, it will say i5 in the name on the store page (at least it does on new egg, i assume it will everywhere). Sandy Bridge is also excellent, but it is the older type and I assumed since even the most expensive ivy bridge i5 (again, using newegg for this statement) is less than the one you listed you would want to just go ahead and get the newer standard. The cpu will come with a stock cooler though, which will be fine unless you overclock it. And yeah, unless you're doing advanced video editing or 3d rendering, you wont see a major difference between the i5 and i7. The reason I suggested two smaller sticks of ram, is because that would give you dual channel support and also, if one stick was to go bad you could still use your computer until it was replaced. I've never heard of SSD Hybrids, they sound interesting, I'll have to look into them a bit. And yeah, most times theres not a huge need for a sound card, I just suggested it cus I know (first hand and from posts online) that realtek onboad can be a pain, but chances are you wont need it so no loss there. I'll post later with some specific hardware suggestions, I hope I've helped a little and if you need any info just ask (And as always feel free to disagree with me on any of it, in the end this is your computer not mine or anyone elses )

ender44 : I don't usually like the Earthbound/Mother series, but that layout really looks great. I think it stands out a lot more than the dragon one. Plus the whole cartoony style is very pleasing to look at, kind of brightens things up!

Yes, back when my NES was acting up, I had to disable the lockout chip, which was a bit of a pain but was worth it in the end.
Elite+ below me, what was your most recent purchase?

This one is a bit tricky for me. My first instinct is to say the SNES, but I also feel like the Playstation could easily deserve the title. In a way, they were similar in the fact that they had a wide range of games in their catalogs. They both had great platformers (Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Super Metroid, Oddworld Abe's Exodus), some of the most remembered RPGs (Chrono Trigger, many of the Final Fantasy games, Symphony of the Night, A Link to the Past). But, in spite of my first instinct, I think I would have to say the Playstation was better because it allowed for things the snes couldn't do, and things nintendo would'nt do. I mean, sure you have to give the sns a bit of a break due to the age difference, but even so the playstation still comes out ahead for another reason, censorship. Nintendo would have never allowed some of the games that were on the psx to be on their systems (back then, they were pretty strict and their censorship is infamous to this day. So yeah, I say the Playstation is the best pre 04 console.

I guess the biggest way they have disappointed me is the wii. Nintendo decided to target the younger audience and the more casual types. This disappointed me because their older consoles had a nice variety of games for different ages. Most of the games on the wii were just shovelware anyways (games that are cheap to make and are cloned in mass quantities) that served no purpose but to take advantage of the motion control gimmick. I know there was a lot of crap on the NES as well, but compare the amount of gems on the NES to the wii. Another issue, one selling point of the wii was the virtual console. As it turns out, the official emulators were horrible, games got censored, and hardly anything really even came out for the VC in the overall scope of things. There are more reasons why I disliked the wii, but I won't get into that right now.

According to wikipedia, it was released on the ps2, but only in Japan. It seems to be a tactical RPG (looks similar to disgaea). Halo coming to steam wouldn't make any sense at all. Microsoft has GFWL which is a competitor to steam... I mean, I can't say anything for certain obviously, but it would seem to me that it is highly unlikely.
