No no no I didn't say that hmm...ok lemme try to explain a bit xD; When you type a URL into your web browser and send it, its pretty much like back in the day telling an operator, "please connect me to Mr. So & So in Florida" or something. Basically that URL gets to your ISP server and changes it to an IP address so the servers can understand what you are saying. It travels along till it finally gets to the root server which contains the addresses for all the top level DNS it redirects your IP to said DNS in this case the .com DNS and continues redirecting to its sub DNS till it finds the site. Then this information gets back to us and finally we can connect to said web server and download the web page.
Now where I was getting at was that along the way to getting to Vizzed web server one of the DNS may be having some problems, there are many for each top-level DNS yet since its IP address changes infrequently and it is deemed as the shortest route to get to your destination that it continues to pass through there. Since no one server contains everything, and there are millions of ways to get there, what the DNS deems as the quickest route from where you are is the route it will take, since the router servers job along the way is to redirect it to the proper location. I don't know if that makes it any clearer of how I was explaining things. All in all I created another thread that has instructions on how to trace the route along the way to a web server if you're intrested, to see where along the way the request is getting timed out and is taking longest to pass through. With that information you can tell your ISP what the issue is where it is taking place and they can connect to a different top level DNS in order to stop the large amount of load time. This actually stemmed from the VizzedBoard Slow? post, but I didn't want to double post and thought that it might actually be helpful to some people. With this said I will tell you how to trace your route connecting to the forum or anywhere you want to see as to why the connection is slow. First and foremost DOS will always be your best friend so open that up, it is called Command Line in XP. In vista though it is more tricky to open, but it can be done. For vista just go to any file and shold shift and right click on it. Then press open command window here.
Type cd C: this will change the directory to the C: drive, now to trace your route type tracert www.(website name).com It will give you a list of the servers you are routing through and the time it takes to send the packets through each individual server. With this you can see where exactly it takes longest to get through and if it is constantly timing out that is the main root of the issue. Now with this information you can fix it by calling up your ISP and telling them the information so they can fix the routes. Note: if you are outside the U.S where the server is located pings will be high as they have to travel through international servers, but if you are inside the U.S and have problems with slow load time this might be something to look into. Hope it helps a bit. Pretty much I mean it all really depends how far you are from the host server anyways, and what ways your connection gets routed. Unless you can find a way to bypass all the routers and servers along the way that connect to your ISP there's not much you can do. See if you can ping to this server and find the ping time, and try to use another route to connect to it. Sorry I can't help much more : |

._. I dont want to start an argument or anything, but if everyone else seems fine and there are only a few people complaining that the board is going too slow how does the problem lie with the server on the other end? I have vista myself and I get load speeds of under 1 second on top of that I have tested this site on two other computers with the same results, and one of those computers was cable speed.
Now if you're still having issues with a high speed connection you might want to check your port settings. Also if you are downloading a torrent or a large file at the same time as attempting to access a forum with high amounts of internet traffic then it is obvious that memory allocation has to be split between the download and running the browser, obviously the download would take more priority thus making things slower. If the Viz board is loading slow and your internet speed is speedy like university internet, then the problem in no way lies with the internet. The problem most likely lies with your computer. first thing to do is check your task manager and see your memory and cpu usage. If they are ridiculously high then that is the reason why you are going so slow so the first thing to do is end processes that you don't need that are hogging up the memory and processor. Next do a disk clean up to get rid of the crap and finally a defragment to organize the rest of your useful crap. You should see a massive improvement in the quality of your computer, and make sure you shut down the comp (not restart) and start it up after wards that way your RAM comes clean.
On a side not Windows itself is a memory hungry program, thus compared to a linux it will be slower there isn't much one can do about that xD. Also the rule above is pretty much for anything under Vista. Vista has a whole other system of memory management I don't want to get into that right now On a side not Windows itself is a memory hungry program, thus compared to a linux it will be slower there isn't much one can do about that xD. Well I'am a wireless kind of person since I don't like being tied down but everything has its pros and cons.
Wired offers: fast if it is or above dsl/cable speed reliable aka unless the wirebreaks it will always work Increased security aka online 1 wire unless we start getting into hubs and routers A pain in the ass...wires everywhere man Dx Wireless offers: Mobility you can do your task almost anywhere Easy sharing over wireless networks No mess to deal with =D Inconsistent connection speed and sometimes frequent d/c Dx With that said I like wireless because I prefer mobility, but If I need something I have to get done will go with wired since that way I'm certain I will get the task done. I can only hope wireless can become more reliable =o Wired offers: fast if it is or above dsl/cable speed reliable aka unless the wirebreaks it will always work Increased security aka online 1 wire unless we start getting into hubs and routers A pain in the ass...wires everywhere man Dx Wireless offers: Mobility you can do your task almost anywhere Easy sharing over wireless networks No mess to deal with =D Inconsistent connection speed and sometimes frequent d/c Dx With that said I like wireless because I prefer mobility, but If I need something I have to get done will go with wired since that way I'm certain I will get the task done. My favorite male characters would have to be: Syaoran from tsubasa chronicle, Lelouch from Code Geass, and Kira from Gundam Seed.
Female characters would be: Sakura from CCS, Hinata from Naruto, and Shana from Shakugan no Shana. Female characters would be: Sakura from CCS, Hinata from Naruto, and Shana from Shakugan no Shana. |

Lmao welcome btw if you need to edit profile settings theres a text link under the main graphic that says edit profile, you can edit stuff from there sites a little confusing since the main page isn't like a main control panel for the user, but one you get used to it, it shouldn't be to big a problem. Enjoy the site! |

I seen unlimited before, its not bad, but my favorite anime hands down without a doubt is Code Geass. Lelouch and Suzaku are both bad ass, but Lelouch is like the best character ever invented. I wont get into the plot much but pretty much a former prince is attempting to destroy his former family empire and he acquires a strange power to do so. I highly recommend if you are into anime, i would consider it as bad as not knowing what Princess Mononoke is =o |

Alright so I have seen this issue before and yes...it sucks, but there is hope =o. Now it really all depends on what the issue is. Firstly if your sharing a computer and your parents have reign over it they might have you on a limited access account so they can pretty much control what sites you can and can't go to.
If you're sharing but have main privileges then you want to check what browser you are using. If your using Internet Explorer (*shivers* i hate IE) then your parents may have set content adviser settings on it blocking you from sites like youtube and myspace. If you have fire fox (yay Check your anti-virus / firewall settings and try turning it off and attempt to access the site. If you can't get on still then you know its not that. Now if the ISP is blocking you attempt to use a proxy server any one will do, they all do the same thing the faster the better though. If even through a proxy server you still can't get access to the site...then your ISP really screwed you over. Well...instead of having a contest to invite spam how about we do something with site design, I'm pretty sure there are some people that are good with photo shop on this board so how about a main graphic design contest. Winner gets their graphic posted as the official site banner. Though the Admin would have to make new buttons to go with the banner, but I think its a good way to get interactive. As extra incentive we should throw in either a Viz prize or a special status next to their name giving them credit for the banner.
Just a thought. Just a thought. |
