Mario is better, he's a classic. All's sonic can do is run, jump, and spin. Mario can do much more like shoot fireballs and he has power moves that Sonic could never have.

Sonic as a character is way better than Mario, His story even makes sense, Plus the fact all Mario does is save a princess, just to get a kiss,

Also in a fight, I'd say that sonic would win, Just due to the fact Sonic has natural powers, Mario gets his by eating mushrooms, Destroy the mushrooms destroy Mario, Even though after time I think he would build an intolerance to them

Even though recently there have been better mario games, Sonic is way better as a character. I mean, Mario barely ever speaks for a start. In terms of power though, well thats what SSBB is for I guess.
