If I were you, I'd try to get Zelda 2. The RPG one, not the original. It's a really fun game to play, plus it's a good challenge on itself.

want a challenge? get the original METROID. its extremly hard due to the fact that you can only gain 5 Energy at a time with a rare chance for 20, while a minimal amount of damage from a small enemy does about 20-30. its also harder since it was originaly meant as an arcade game, which are kinda made to make you lose. but its very fun and addicting!!!

Original Metal Gear is pretty awesome, with all of its nostalgic bad grammar, sleeping guards, nonsense tobacco use, "dirty" magazines, and box hiding. Oh, I am so glad technical limitations would not allow for another action game.

A lot of people have already named the heavy hitters on the NES, (i.e. Mike Tyson's Punch Out; Super Mario Bros.; etc.) so, I thought I'd name a few games from the original Nintendo that I believe are fun and fly under the radar:

1)  Super Spike Volleyball - (Easy mechanics to learn... tough to master.)

2)  Excitebike - (Sadly, the memory chip wasn't included in the game, but the track build mode was way, way, waaaay ahead of its time.)

3)  Life Force -  (Fun and pretty gross side scrolling space jet shooter.  Sweet power-ups.)

4)  Hogan's Alley - (If you can get hold of a NES gun, get this game.  Very simple and a bit repetitive, but always gets my heart racing.)

5)  Blades of Steel - (Fast paced, arcade style hockey.  Great fighting.  "Take the pass!")

6)  Super Mario Brothers 2 - (Most underrated game of the series.  Much different than the others, with an all new cast of characters.)

Good stuff.  Also, I recommend doing a search of "Top 100 NES games" on Google or Bing, and going through the lists.

Hello, and that's a great purchase you have made there.

A few games which I would personally suggest are:

-The 3 Ninja Turtle games (the first one is insanely challenging)
-Both Zelda games
-The Mega Man series
-The 3 Mario games (this is a MUST!)
-Contra
-Final Fantasy
-Star Tropics
-Dragon Warrior I II and III
-Tetris

I hope you enjoy your new (old) system.

Contra is a blast and a must pickup.

Spy Hunter

Dig Dug and any other arcade games released at that time.

Little league Baseball-a really fun game and still enjoy playing it to this day on my Nes emulator.

Track and Field, Excitebike.

Anything else is gonna sound like everyone else.

Plus look on the games page here and it'll give you a idea of what to look for.

I can remember when i got my Nes, felt like Ralphie from Christmas Story.(Not going to say anyting else in case noone hasn't seen the movie yet).

I personally think games one should have include Final Fantasy, the first two or three Dragon Warrior games (Dragon Warrior IV is too expensive), Tetris (either the original or the one by Tengen), and just about every single game made by Nintendo on the NES.

tgags123 :

Kid Icarious.

It's fairly hard, but it gets a lot more fun after the first dungeon. It's kinda like a side scrolling Zelda divided into levels where you use a bow, but you can upgrade yourself with lots of different things by going through "Harsh Training" and by using you money. The gameplay is just fun. I really like it.

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .
