In my opinion, he isn't a bad character at all, but to have his very own game? Yeah, that hurt his character. But overall, I enjoy his character, his look, and his game. Just that he's critically hurt by it.

Naw the game is just, not sonic. Very minor swearing (you really think damn and hell are an issue? Turn on a TV and go to a channel aimed at 12 year olds, you'll be surprised) And guns sorta separate, although why people complain about guns being in a sonic game is beyond me seeing as how both the adventure games had fire arms in them (opening cut scene of adventure 1 for sonic's story, The cut scene after crazy gadget for adventure 2) And it's also no the first time you could shoot stuff, E-102 had a shotgun attached to it's arm, and omega has machine guns in his arms. And if you want to argue about them being robots, shadow could be one seeing as how we never actually were told if this new shadow is the real one (or maybe we were, I don't fact check this stuff lol).

Although I wouldn't consider it a classic I find shadow the hedgehog as kinda more of a guilty pleasure game it is fun in its own way but there is a lot of flaws with it. First having a dark and serious tone in a game about cartoony animals with a few supporting characters having really high pitched voices is a little ridiculous especially when there cursing. The guns were really useless to but I had fun using them anyway at times. So with that being said the game had some of the best music out of any sonic game and out of most any games at the time for the most part, and the levels with the exception of on or two being really good although glitchy at times. So even as a kid when it came out I realized the game was bad but I enjoyed it anyway like a good B movie
