I've often debated people on the subject, and we can never get past the first step.
If you're going to claim that something exists, you then have to define what it is you are claiming exists, and as far as every debate with someone telling me about the Illuminati, they can't even define it.
If I said schlomple domples exist, and you should be scared of schlomple domples, you ask me what a schlomple domple is and I say "I don't know, but they're secret and scary", the conversation has ended because you would think I'm a mad man.
Until someone can define what the illuminati is, and give me some clear evidence for them, I'll take the position that they don't exist.
However, if you simply define it as people who control things behind the scenes, you've simply renamed something that has existed since the beginning of civilization, you haven't identified anything.
