Actually......since you got me talking about Video game creepy stuff..........there is one......Ever heard of MARIO? (Yes, it's actually called that)

Well, MARIO......it's a rom hack of Super Mario World......a guy called Andrew was on a website that holds this SMW hacks called SMW Central....this hack was called MARIO and Andrew thought that it was poorly translated Japanese cause it said this in the discription "As you play the role of Super Mario plumber, verify that you are beautiful Purinsesutozutouru again Bowser kidnapped the evil king. It is your job to save her! This hack includes six levels of very long." Anyway, he patched the rom and started playing it and things started getting weird...for one, the opening credits welcoming you to Dinosaur Land said "Welcome! This is Dinosaur Land. In this strange land we find that Princess Toadstool is missing again! Looks like Mario is at it again!" Then he was brought to the world map. All the level names were changed (not to mention text) and other things......Anyway, he progressed though the game and he went to fight an ordinary Iggy Kooper boss fight and felt cheated.....anyway, he beat Iggy and went to the destruction of the castle scene but this is where things took a turn for the worse (and for those younger, I won't say what the text was changed to) and the text was describing something like a CSI Crime Scene.....anyway, he continues on with the game and other things happened......he wound up getting stuck in a void like area then had a power-out but something on the computer made it keep going... then a picture appeared and then copied itself to his computer as a .jpg file, and then ends it with "Remember guys, it's only a hack, it can't hurt you.....Or can it?".......This is a pretty lengthy Creepy Pasta and a good one at that.....In order to get a good feel you should read it for yourself.....I'll provide a link to the actual Creepy Pasta http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/MARIO

Some guy went to a garage sale and found a blue cartridge that had "tears" written in it so when the put it in the last person just had pickachus in his party with random names, so when he new games it the screen went black and then a text box appeared "who ruined my life, killed my raticate,made my own grandpa favor you more then his own grandson" ten you see blue at lavender town he says "fly" and then you"re flown to Mt.Silver. Them blue's pigeot came out then he said "go your free now" then it flew away, now you can check your items the only thing you had was "knife" when you try to use it Blue would say "not yet" while you were walking to the top you can hear the sad cries of pokemon feeling bad for blue, them you made it to the top and when you talked to red he just greeted you with "....." Like always then blue got made and said "Don't say quiet answer me!" Then the battle phase came but it was just you and red , you had no control over the options. You went to battle and did "murder" and used knife it did the tackle animation but again and again so then when red "died" the battle phase was still happening so then blue said "time to finish this" then another battle option came "suicide" but it took a little longer to choose it as Blue was hesitating but he chose it and died, then the screen went black and said "I'll see you in hell"

servbot128 : It was creepy. Seriously when the whole room turns dark, your reflection changes into an evil, and you become ankle deep in what looks like blood. If that does not make you go "WTF" then well...I don't know what else.

I have one the ghost from pokemon tower, and pokemon black. it is said to get pokemon black, you need to use a gameshark, get master balls, no scope, throw master ball at ghost, catch it , then battle a 'm'(missingno) catch that if u want, it'll be ditto, then check stats of ghost, game should freeze, then reboot the game, it'll say that all save game data is gone, then a picture of a ghost appears, then you start new game, another ghost picture, then it starts. it'll seem normal but as soon as you get your starter, you also have the ghost. if your starter faints, you'll use ghost and only move is curse. but not the normal curse. it instantly kills the pokemon and then the trainer. you cannot relase ghost it'll reman in your party. you can destroy the game with ghost, you go to hall of fame, afterward it says several years later, your the only person, and your the old man. you have no pokemon, exept ghost I think, theres no more pokemon and no trainers, you make your way back to pallet town, then you battle ghost, ghost will not attack you, you have to moves so you use struggle, it doesnt work, you get to about 1 hp, then ghost uses curse, screen goes black forever, you restart game, it says what it says when you restart the game after looking at ghosts stats.

servbot128 : I actually did try testing the theory of buried alive with a glitch pokemon before getting to lavander town. I went to the top floor, and no pitch decrease, or buried alive. This seems to be creepypasta, in which it was actually never there. But if it could ever be possible to find the actual thing about buried alive in the game, you could find him in a pokemon hack called "Pokemon Dead Red" or "Pokemon Buried Red", I don't know the name of the hack, but the hack features buried alive instead of the ghost boss in which it actually is optional to go to the tower to find buried alive in there. That Game Over image is quite scary. The large text made it very freaking scary. I think I heard about this buried alive thing not long after I turned 13. I tried to see if it was true by using a regular, nonhacked Pokemon Blue ROM, and did what was needed to get him to be battled.

The main problem for him was this:

If you win: The game freezes, but if it gets worked around which is super rare, you get the Game Over screen no matter what. I don't know if it's possible to beat him yet because of when his pokemon are like lv 120 and lv 101.

If you lost: The Game Over screen shows up, followed by a slow, low pitched, reversed lavander town theme playing quieter than in the OST of Pokemon R/B/Y/G.

Also in the creepypasta, it said a image would be downloaded to the gameboy internal memory overwriting the gameboy logo and permanently replaced with the Game Over image without the "Game Over" text. A staticmesh.wav file plays too. But that part is fake to so many people because a gameboy can't play .wav files, or even read .gif images, which was for example, the white hand.

What is it with all the creepy pasta stuff? The OP asked about genuine creepy things in video games, not about fake stories. Seriously.

Here is a creepy secret for you: Portal 2, find the secret Rat Man den in test chamber 17. It plays a very creepy tune in there and also, if you listen closely, you can hear the final ramblings of "Rat Man". Hearing that rambling along with the music always gives me shivers and goose bumps. It's really freaky.

Okay, now for a non-fake but still creepy fact about Mario 3d land!

In level 4-4, a ghost house, when you get to the end, walk to the back of the ending area (by the fence) by the right wall,

if you just sit there for 30 seconds, a strange, realistic ghost looking face will appear and be gone silently, it doesn't come back.

You may say 'OH! THIS IS JUST A CREEPYPASTA!', but I found on did you know gaming, so I'd hope it wouldn't be false.

I don't own Mario 3d land personally, but anyone who does could probably go and try. It's not just in one cartridge, I'm pretty sure it's in all
official Mario 3d land carts.
