yup.... dual-booting is what will save you... except the moment that you go back into windows and connect to the internet the virus will kick in. Just because you aren't logged in on that specific day doesn't mean it won't affect you still if you're infected and do nothing about it.

True. But, the virus does sleep. It only activates when it's trying to attack whatever it is it's attacking. So, all it will do is lag my Windows. And plus, there are Linux anti viruses so i can just scan my computer with that. Linux av's scan Linux for Windows viruses so:
A.) The Linux user can browse without unknowingly spreading viruses
B.) The user can go back to using Windows without having the viruses acting up in Windows.

So, antivirus on Linux = No conficker for me.

the new strain isnt really that new, it was detected at the start of march, just over a month ago. now D may be a bit nastier then C:
Update propagation:
HTTP pull: Downloads daily from any 500 of 50000 pseudorandom domains over 110 TLDs
P2P push/pull: Uses custom protocol to scan for peers via UDP, then transfer via TCP
Self-defense:
Blocks DNS lookups: Does an in-memory patch of DNSAPI.DLL to block lookups of anti-malware related web sites
Disables AutoUpdate
Kills anti-malware: Scans for and terminates processes with names of anti-malware, patch or diagnostic utilities at one-second intervals

but Conficker seems to be something carless people get, i didnt get it on any pc, not the one i specifically applied the patches to protect against it to, nor the one i treated same as always, ie just making sure the antivirus/malware an antispyware was up to date.
lets see how D approaches it but since it spreads via P2P...

EDIT2: and it was C that activated april fools D has yet to do so as its only been spreading a month.
plus id check your facts Ras, Unix systems arnt indestructable and you could spread the worm...

that sentence made no sense Rasenganfan....

and hooray for a virus....

I still don't understand why people spend so much time making viruses.... don't they have anything better to do? I dunno.... I just don't understand the mentality of it. why spend so much time destroying?

Well, I'll explain it to you Geeo. Linux users still get Windows viruses. It doesn't affect their computer. However, they may spread the virus on the sites you go to.

So, if you had a virus that puts adware on a Windows and you're using Linux, you can spread the virus on the site you're going to.

Get it?

Anyways, I read somewhere that 74% of viruses were made to mess up 1 persons computer, but got many people in the process.

Oh yeah lol. This is why I'm already missing Ubuntu... but, at least this time i know how to properly dual boot .

Besides, i probly already have conficker d because I don't have an anti-virus yet. I've been too busy trying to get the darn Linux ISO to burn to the CD. I never should've erased Linux on that CD to put Opensolaris on it... well, we all know that I've made the best choices when it comes to computers.

As a matter of fact, after I finish making my "Make your Windows look like a Mac" videos(that has my voice in it), ima make a video called "Make your Windows look like Linux Ubuntu".

Anyway, just when is conficker gonna strike again?
