mine is Cheese Fondue!

I have made cheese fondue, but I haven't used Alcohol in too many dishes before. I know I have used it for certain meat marinades before but not to actually prepare the dish with.

Well two things actually. Beer bread, has a sweet flavor that tastes nothing like beer eventhough beer is the second main ingredient. Amarello Liqueur in pumpkin pie. It adds a little extra flavor.

I never cooked with alcohol because I don't cook but foods I ate were cheese and chocolate fondue, chocolate truffle, flamed shrimp

I used alcahol to marinate some of the meats

When my friends and I grill out we like to pour beer on almost every thing we cook.It doesn't really change the taste but its fun to do.

My dad used some kind of alcohol to make these very delicious stakes once. mmm

I've done the beer marinade for steaks, or beer battered onion rings. Also I've fried apple slices in coconut rum (you ignite the rum to burn the alcohol off for this) and topped them on vanilla ice cream.

Totts : My is boiled crabs with some cheap beer it really give the taste a mpre sweet & sour you might get drunk so watch it.

You made cheese fondue with alcohol? ._. Never thought about doing that...
Usually I just use a red wine to cook meats, like New York Strips, which taste GREATTTT afterwards.

I don't want to get high and I won't even take a sip of the stuff in my entire life.

septembern : You don't get high off foods cooked with alcohol , it only gives it flavor.. you'd have to eat a huge amount of it to even get a small effect .

It is sort of a boundary that I can never pass I've seen my friends consume the stuff and it sort of bothers me how they act.

septembern : Right; I understand what you're saying now.. I have a lot of boundaries which I avoid. Consuming alcohol is one, however, for me, eating food cooked with alcohol is okay; if it's not for you, than that's cool.

I have family members who are involved in stuff which I was formally involved in, but I'm done with that lifestyle although I still hangout sometimes with them. My point is that somethings they do, I'll be sure to get away from the situation.. like you from the alcohol .

Firstly, you get drunk from alcohol, not high.

Secondly, alcohol burns off during cooking unless you use a lot (and I mean A LOT). It imparts a bit of flavor and tenderizes meat but there is no way to possibly get drunk from food that was cooked with alcohol. I respect your pledge not to drink, since you are underage I believe, but I just want you to know that food with alcohol is a different beast entirely. Otherwise you couldn't order the Jack Daniel's steak from TGIFridays unless you were 21, think about it.

Now, I have used alcohol in many foods. Beer in beer bread and on burgers, wine for chicken or to make a deglazing sauce (mmm, steak au pouv!). Brandy for chocolate truffles (instance of me using too much, good results though). Sherry for turkey (most moist and delicious I have ever had). Rum for cake and Tequila for chicken marinade.

I've never personally cooked with alcohol, but my dad cooks a lot so I'm sure I've eaten things that were made with alcohol. I give credit to whoever thought it was a good idea to pour a flammable drink into a hot pan to make food taste better.

NO, what is it good for. Do it do anything to chicken?

Yes, just look up some recipes online and try them out. Might I recommend tequila lime chicken?
