My brother knocked my DS (original series) out of my hand and it smacked into the wall, cracking the hinge. It's since broken down so that the top screen can swing out 45 degrees, but the only problem is if you swing it that far, it often shuts itself off, lol.

I really dont know what you people do to your gear, ok granted all current gen consoles are made to fail with different rates (360 highest, Wii middle, PS3 low), but I know that older gen consoles dont just brake from normal use unless it was abused in it's lifespan...

They do, however, make very durable handhelds (see my comment about my DS above, 5 years old, dropped many many times, twice so hard that the screen swings out 45 degrees, and it still works!).
