A sonic speed adventure   arwingstarfight..
When I was just a small boy, I had no idea what a dreamcast was until I was just a young teenager when I found out about sonic so being curious, I decided to learn more and no matter what any of the annoying fanboys say about Sonic the Hedgehog, I will always have a special place for Sonic in my Video game hall of fame (thats just a figure of speech by the way) As each day went by I learned more about the blue blurs history and his many adventures with such iconic allies including Knuckles the Echidna, Tails the fox (or kitsune but whatever) Amy Rose,Big the cat, the chaotix detective agency, and more. Each game and other related media I could get my hands on at any given time spurred more interest in this game series until one day I had discovered great things about the iconic dreamcast game, Sonic Adventure. Now this is a game I absolutely adore to pieces it has incredible voice acting but I'll get to that soon enough. this is known for being the first real 3d Sonic game as well as the dreamcasts best selling game, it sold 2.5 million copies around the world. playing as each character was a real pleasure to get to know them, this game has pretty much everything, a good story, great graphics, good sound quality, an expansive world full of depth and is highly addictive and habit forming, I couldn't stop playing it when I got my own copy, (granted it was the remake for the pc but, such is life, beggars can't be choosers) Now its time to get straight down to business.
As far as the story goes, its split between six playable characters Big the cat, Tails, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, the newcomer E102 gamma and of course the spiky blue mascot for Sega who can run faster than the speed of sound, and possessing lightning fast reflexes, Sonic the hedgehog. After Sonic returns from who knows where, the cocky adventurer comes to a city named Station Square, only to find out That Doctor Robotnik (later known  officially as Doctor Eggman) has unleashed a powerful deity known as Chaos, the god of destruction. After finding tails stranded on the sandy beaches of the Emerald Coast the dynamic duo decide to head over to Tails workshop in the mystic ruins and catch up on lost time. However things don't always go the way you plan them to go. After a brief battle with the bad doctor, the evil scientist snatches a chaos emerald from tails hands, much to their horror, and proceeds to feed Chaos the emerald to the watery god resulting in a transformation. If Chaos is fed all seven chaos emeralds he will become super strong, and level entire civilizations to sheer rubble in this case, Doctor Robotnik will then build upon the ruins of Station Square, his ultimate city, Robotnik Land ( I know he's got such an over inflated ego) After that villains monologue, the evil duo proceed to look for another emerald, prompting Sonic and Tails to find the chaos emeralds before Robotnik can get to them first and feed them to chaos (honestly does anyone find Omega Shenron in Dragon Ball GT very similar to Chaos? I know I do) and a new adventure awaits. But theres more to the main plot than just Sonic and tails perspective, Knuckles, the last echidna alive is lamenting on his eternal loneliness and fate to guard the master emerald. Never knowing why he was given such a responsibility, Knuckles continued to ponder his fate his life and his uncertain future during a dark and stormy night until he was awoken to the sound of smashing, looking behind him he had seen that the master emerald had been shattered and in its place stood a destructive creature and a glowing ball of light. As soon as the creature left, Angel Island fell into the ocean and The last Echidna in sonics world takes it upon himself to find the lost pieces of the enormous jewel and restore it to its former glory. In Doctor Robotniks laboratory he has created a line of robots known as the e-100 series, they are E-101 beta, E-103 Delta, E-104 Epsilon, E-105 Zeta, and last but certainly by no means the least, E-102  Gamma, A robot who all i will say developed a conscience. Amy Rose on the other hand must protect a small blue bird that is known as a flicky and tries to reunite the lost bird with its family while evading a robot named Zero AKA E-100 Alpha (he is called that by many fans including myself) and finally making his debut alongside Gamma is a laidback and jolly jungle hermit named Big (ha ha Sega your clearly having some lack of imagination here but that's not what I'm reviewing) who leaves is quiet life in the jungle to find his best friend Froggy the frog (again with lack of imagination, we know he's a frog) Froggy has been possessed by a part of Chaos and Big has to find him in each stage and fish him out. When all characters have been completed, you will unlock the final story. So theres your plot, its an awesome one too and now we move onto the graphics.
While the graphics of this incredible game are awesome and eye catching with some of the best details back then there were a couple of issues although the only one I can recall was the original games frame rate which made certain things like characters speaking a little choppy in some places but other than that the graphics are a vast improvement from the failed Sega Saturn. The Characters were even given major design changes thanks to the incredible artist, Yuji Uekawa (eg: the characters look much older and more up to date and the formerly colourless eyes were given irises.)the scenery were incredible environments with their own unique gimmicks and scenery, including polar cap areas to high speed running through the city although the characters mouth movements can be a little choppy, except for Doctor Robotniks mouth, which is either hidden by his bushy facial hair, or it doesn't move at all. not to mention the sky battles are awesome too when it comes to this games graphics overall the graphics are impressive but not entirely perfected. that's all I have to say about the games graphical power.
The sounds of this game are more than just diverse, every sound sounds pretty realistic at the time and if that weren't enough the game also had an incredible voice cast, starring Ryan Drummond, as Sonic, Corey Bringas as Tails, Micheal Mcgarharn as Knuckles, Jennifer Douillard  as Amy, Jon St Jon as Big the cat, Steve Broadie as Gamma, Elara Distler as the mysterious Tikal and the late Deem Bristow as the voice of Doctor Robotnik., Each voice actor had just the right voice for each character, Ryan made sonic sound cool an aloof while deem Bristow gave Robotnik a sinister and deep, gravelly voice. As far as sounds go this game has it all, explosions, waves, things breaking, running water, splashes and the music don't get me started most of the games music was composed by Jun Senoue and his band, Crush 40, giving the games soundtrack a predominantly hard rock sound like one area in the sky deck level has guitars, bass drums and even keyboards, that part of the level sounds like it was composed by Deep Purple without any singing but it was at the same time diverse in its music, there are no more words to describe this games soundtrack other than there should be more games like it.
As I mentioned earlier, this game is incredibly addictive and habit forming, once you start playing your instantly hooked on this games endless energy, smashing enemies and really having nothing but a good time, Sonic Adventure is one of those games that you want to keep until you die in the real world. Running at breakneck speeds is an amazing part of this game giving you a sort of thrill as you speed down buildings and navigate treacherous temples this game will never let go of you once your hooked everything about it, is a masterpiece, a timeless classic. Now the next thing that I will cover, is the depth and trust me there's tons of it
the depth of this game is plainly obvious and in the best way possible, by playing as six different characters, you get six types of game play. Sonics game play involves making it from one end of the level to the other end of said level at high speeds. Tails game play is similar to Sonics but there's a catch. You have to race either Sonic or Doctor Robotnik in each level, the character you race depends on what level your on, but Tails as a distinct advantage. Having twin tails has given the young fox the ability to fly and by flying he can take shortcuts but using it drains his energy so use it sparingly. Knuckles game play take place in an enclosed area of each level his mission is to find three pieces of the master emerald to complete the level and progress further. Amy has the shortest storyline in the game and her way of playing is to get to the end of the level while avoiding Zero the chase master. Bigs Game play is kind of boring but this is balanced by a a short storyline, his method of completing a level is fishing for froggy (yup you heard me, fishing). In addition to trying to catch the elusive amphibian, Big can also catch a wide variety of fish and Gammas game play is a shooting style game, you have to destroy a certain target before time runs out but if you shoot down some of robotniks robot foot soldiers, you can earn bonus time.now the characters game play has been settled lets move on to the levels. In Sonic Adventure the levels are connected by three hub worlds. Station Square, Mystic Ruins, and the Egg Carrier. each level is unique it carries certain elements in each level including Highways, volcanic mountains frozen ice caps, casinos, and much much more. you can even function as a living pinball in the pinball areas of the casino. On top of all that there are plenty of non player characters that are scattered throughout the hub worlds. Some just say random things while others drop very useful hint. the levels have plenty of fun gimmicks such as the aforementioned pinball style of game play, rockets to get higher up, jump pads that you can jump from one to the next and upgrades. And a lot of these upgrades are essential to completing the whole game. Others like the fighting gloves and jet anklets are completely optional. And have you ever wanted a virtual pet, well Sonic adventure delivered that as well with three different chao gardens. in these gardens you ca raise your very own chao as a pet, there is even a chao shop providing a lo9t of good stuff for your chao, such as fruit and different assorted chao eggs, a feature that was carried on in Sonic adventure two, another awesome game. alright, its time to wrap this baby up.
Like I said before with all these high scores in each specific area, its no wonder this game was the dreamcasts best seller and an extremely great masterpice from sega, this game pretty much expanded Sonics world and relationships in so many different ways, this game will never get old and is a video game treasure that I will not part with, not even if I was given all the money in the world this game was worth the dough I spent on it (well the remake of it anyway) thank you for reading. A Epic Adventure For An Under-rated System   WaysideFan2002
In 1999,The Sega Dreamcast was released in North America. It was a smash hit!Until The Play Station 2 came around in 2000 or 2001.
But even though this console had a short life,it had some amazing games! This is a review of one of my favorite Sonic games! This is
Sonic Adventure,for the DreamCast!
Graphics-7
Now this was the first game on the system (I believe),so I can understand why the graphics weren't amazing! They were very sharp on the ends, which I do like!I only brought down the score because I've seen way better graphics on the system!Heck!I've seen better graphics on the Sega Saturn! And that came out in '95!
Sound-10
The Music and sounds where spectacular!I really loved the voices! Here are the voices actors!
Sonic The Hedgehog/Super Sonic/Metal Sonic- Ryann Drummond
Miles "Tails" Prower- Corey Bringas
Knuckles The Echidna- Michael Mcgaharn
Amy Rose The Hedgehog- Jennifer Douillard
Doctor Ivo Robotnik "Eggman"- Deem Bristow
Big The Cat- Jon St. John
E-102 Gamma- Steve Broadie!
Tikal The Echidna- Elara Distler
And I loved every single one of those actors! They were so cool sounding and fun to listen to!Big the Cat in my opinion had the best voice, while Amy in my opinion had the worst voice.
Addictiveness-9
You will ALWAYS come back to play this,I just was playing it yesterday!
Story-7
I'm gonna try and tell the story with spoiling if you haven't played this yet so I'll separate and I won't tell everything.
Sonic's Story- Sonic is on top of a building looking down to ground when he see's police driving past!He jumps off the building and spin dashes toward the cop car.He then meet's Chaos,A big water being, and defeats him.Later,He goes to take a little vacation at the Emerald Coast when Tails crashes his new plane!Sonic, being the hero he is,goes to save Tails. Then, they go on there way to Defeat Doctor Eggman and get the chaos emeralds! (7/10)
Tails Story- Tails is flying his new plane when it malfunctions and he crash lands on the Emerald Coast!Sonic saves him,and they both go to stop Eggman!Later,The two buddies get separated and Tails realised that he can't rely on Sonic forever,so he tries his best to get the chaos emeralds, and he becomes a hero! Note:This is my favorite story (8/10)
Knuckles Story- Knuckles is sitting on the steps of the Floating Island, thinking about why his ancestors left him to protect and guard the Master Emerald forever. Suddenly, Chaos comes and breaks the Master Emerald into pieces! Without the master emerald, The Floating Island falls down to ocean and causes a huge tsunami wave! Knuckles then goes to Station Square to search for the emeralds!
(6/10)
Amy Rose's Story- Amy Rose is walking around town with a shopping bag when she starts to miss her hero/crush, Sonic The Hedgehog,
suddenly,a little bird lands on her,and then a robot named, Zero, attacks her!She must protect the bird at all costs to keep it away from Zero!(5/10) My least favorite story.
Big's Story- Big the Cat is a big, purple cat who loves to fish is sleeping on his bed in the Mystic Ruins! When his best friend, Froggy the Frog, wanders off. Big wakes up and notices that Froggy ate his Lucky Charm. And Froggy now has a tail! So Big goes to station square to fish for Froggy in every level! Note:This is my 2nd favorite Story (8/10)
E-102 Gamma's Story- Gamma was made by Doctor Eggman to capture Big's frog, Froggy, to extract the chaos emerald inside Froggy.
But later on,he meet's Amy Rose, who tells him the meaning of friendship. So Gamma has to destroy all his brother robots to save the animals inside! (7/10)
Overall,The stories not half bad except for Amy's.
Depth-9
This game is fully loaded and packed with awesome extras! If you have the Nintendo Gamecube Port, Sonic Adventure DX: Directors Cut,you might just get some surprises if you get a lot of emblems. They're is also the chao garden which I really don't like in this game. It's better in this games sequel, Sonic Adventure 2 (Sonic Adventure 2: Battle if you have the Gamecube Port like I do).
Difficulty-6
Like the story,I'm gonna separate the difficulty
Sonic- 5
Sonic's levels are not very hard besides his Final Level. All you do is to Point A to Point B
Tails- 2
Tails Levels were not hard or challenging whatsoever,it was WAY to easy. All you do is race sonic to the finish, which is fun,but way to easy. This is the only problem I have with Tails.
Knuckles- 7
Knuckles level were pretty tough, you have to treasure hunt by using a radar which is hard.I barley come back to this game for Knuckles.
Amy-4
Amy's Level's were slightly harder than Tails levels but still pretty easy.
Big- 5
Why do people hate Big? He's not that hard. It just takes time and practice. Here's a tip, when your bait is in the water, and Froggy/A fish comes by hold down on the Control Stick. In will make them come to the bait and they will catch it no matter what!
E-102 Gamma- 6
Gamma was Not to hard and not to easy.It was in that sweet spot which I like.Basically, Shoot for the win, keep on shooting the badniks and your time will go up,if you run out of time without reaching the goal, you die.
Overall- 8.9
This game is great! It has good graphics, amazing music,it is very addicting, there was a decent story, and great gameplay!
The problems were,Amy Rose was annoying, and the game was way to easy!Anyway,I hope you enjoyed!I look forward to review more Sonic,Rugrats, and other games!

Sonic Adventure Review   Zircron Swift
Sonic fans were vastly disappointed when the Sega Saturn didn't deliver a 3D sonic game for the system. However, as the Dreamcast came out, there were two 3D sonic games (well, 3 if you include Sonic Shuffle....) for the sonic fans to enjoy. They introduced voice acting to the characters (many of them were indeed fitting to the characters personality), a 3D world to explore, and many other things that indeed took the game one step beyond, making it a very well known and loved game to those that owned a Dreamcast for those two short years. Now, I never played this game, only watched my brother play this title. It was the GameCube version, and ironically enough, it was that Sega game ported onto a Nintendo console that got us locked into Nintendo. Funny how that happens considering the fierce war they had 14 years back (at the time). Still, it might be a good game to play. Let's have a look.
The first thing I want to say about this game is the intro song: Open your Heart by Crush 40. I gotta say, wow. I don't know how I didn't hear this song before, but it's the start of some awesome songs from a great band. It's not often you hear vocals like this in a game. Anyway, enough about that, onto the game. As you start, you notice you can play as six different characters, much like in Sonic Advanced. You can see what they are, just greyed out so you can't select them. You can play as Sonic (obviously), Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big the Cat (a big purple cat, wonder what he is used for), and a robot called E-102 WHY.... Oh, I mean "Y", as in the Greek symbol for "Gamma". Man, playing as a robot is going to be awesome. I bet I get to blow stuff up.
The story starts off with Sonic, life loving and energetic as always, is jumping across the roof tops, probably appreciating the world as it is. This is where he can talk, introducing a slight touch of arrogance to his personality, which no doubt would evolve and develop greater and greater into an annoying feature around him that will probably get old and stale. Right now, to be honest, it's a breathe of fresh air and suits him nicely. Where was I? Ah yes, the town. There is suddenly the sirens of police cars about, and sonic goes to help. There, in the city hall, is a blue being with crab like claws. I wonder what it could be made out of....Maybe the cyan colour and slight ripple effects in it's body would suggest it's made of water. Maybe the police officers should save their bullets and.....fire anyway? Well, they fired their guns, and surprisingly, the bullets hit the creature, and then fell out, doing no damage. Some solid water there. Sonic comes in and fight the creature, and the game starts.
I love games that have a boss battle as the first thing you do, it shows there's going to be something epic near the end. The rivalry you make with the first boss you fight makes the final fight all the more enjoyable (assuming the last boss is the strongest form of the first boss). You fight "Chaos Zero", which is an easy thing to do. You can even try out all the different buttons without much difficulty. After you defeat the boss, the blue thing turns into a puddle and goes into the sewer. Then, Eggman (who appears to be watching the battle from a close distance) blurts out that the blue creature is Chaos, God of Destruction. Then he laughs. I don't know what surprises me more, that fact that Eggman was announcing his "secret weapon" pretty much in front of sonic, or the fact that sonic didn't hear him. Does Eggman always stand in an area where sonic could easily see him and announce his plans? If he does, then maybe that's why sonic always seems to foil his plot. He must have a slight case of SEVS. After that, sonic is relaxing on a beach, when Tails on his Tornado comes crashing down. Sonic goes to help via your first stage level after some overly done animation with sonic's spikes.
After that, and this is a point I really want to make here, you find Tails, go back to the hotel nearby, and you find out that Tails "just happened to find" one of the seven Chaos Emerald. That's what he said. Just happened to find it, one of the seven in the world. I find this hard to believe. And then he says that it holds unlimited power. This annoys me, as unlimited is the same as infinity. Infinity is a word used to describe "never-ending". If one Chaos Emerald has unlimited power, then why do you need seven to go into the sayin like Super Sonic form? One holds unlimited power, so one should be enough to do that. Seven times infinity still equals infinity, so why do you need seven? Doesn't. Make. Sense.
*deep sigh* Anyway, after that, you can play as tails. When you come across a character in a game, you can play as them. You can also freely explore the world around you (providing you got that far in the game). You can talk to people, but they normally say something that is completely irreverent to the plot of the game. Some parts are only available to certain characters. Each character has their own unique game style. Sonic is your classic get to the end of the stage game play. Tails levels are suspiciously like that of a sonic level, only you have to race sonic. He really follows sonic everywhere. This is where the arrogance comes in. This fox, about six years old, is being egged into racing a hedgehog across dangerous plains and areas where certain death might occur, and is thrown insults if he can't beat him in this race. Wow, what a jerk.
The Knuckles side of the story is that he is on the mysterious floating Angle Island (but I see no angles on there, rather disappointingly), guarding the Master Emerald, which is like a really big Chaos Emerald, only it isn't (I wonder how much power that contains....). Angel Island crashes into the sea, and the Master Emerald shatters into several pieces. Knuckles undying love for this giant gem means he is compelled into restoring it. So his levels consist of treasure hunting. All you have to do is explore around the level, following the radar until one of the icons below flashes green. Explore that general area until is flashes yellow, orange and then red, indicating you are closing in on the shards location. Once you do, then you need to find the other two pieces hidden somewhere in the level. This can take some time, and requires a little bit of guess work. The cut scenes in this side includes encounters with Eggman not seen in others.
Amy's side of the story is the shortest (with only three levels). She is running away from a robot attempting to kidnap her, so each level involves you running away from the robot, while getting to the end of the level. You can do some attacks with a hammer and jump pretty high using a special move. What I like about some sides of the story is that they intertwine with each other, in this case, Amy interacts mainly with E-102y. Amy finds a bird that Eggman, for some reason, is very interested in, and E-102y comes in to take it from her. However, she manages to get through to him, and he decided to let them escape.
Now, E-102y has probably the best story in a sonic game. It's all about the character development (which, to be fair, Shadow had plenty of, until they damaged that sense somewhat with that game Shadow the Hedgehog) that make this story particularly touching.....for a sonic game. It starts off with E-102 Gamma being created, and then he is put to the test by fighting his stronger brother E101 Beta. When you win, you are assigned with a mission to catch a frog called "Froggy", which supposedly has Chaos' tail in, and a Chaos Emerald in him. You catch Froggy, and return to the Egg carrier. Since the other robots failed him, they are dismissed and teleported away with a scold from Eggman. You could almost see the sense of pity on E103 Delta's face as he is teleported away. This seems to hit E102 hard, and as you go further along the story of E102, he will see things that question his nature and almost certainly make you feel a little sorry for him. It's almost like a work of art....AND YOU GET TO BLOW STUFF UP, AH YEEEEAH! Some say E102 is a slow, hard to control character that put the pace of the game into sluggish perspective, but I always wonder why people say this. E102 is quite frankly the best character in the game. He;s fast moving, you get to use lazer-guided missiles to blow stuff up, you get to rake up combos, it's just awesome. Sure, it gets a little old after the third or forth level, but the story makes you want to keep playing, and the bosses are quite entertaining.
Which leaves me with Big the Cat. What's his story? Well, in the middle of the jungle, Big the Cat and his best friend Froggy (OMG! Foreshadowing!!!) are resting. Froggy gets up early, and goes for a walk. He finds a shiny, gem-shaped thing that just so happened to be Big's "lucky charm" (no doubt a Chaos Emerald), and then runs off. Big wakes up, and can't find his friend. Big has a rather.....big voice shall we say? It's rather deep, but hey, simple cat, simple pleasures. I wonder what Big the Cat does as a level style. You go into Twinkle Park and.....no......just.....no. No, no no no no no. I must be going mad. It's telling me that the level objective is to catch Froggy.....with a fishing rod. Fishing.....in a sonic game. And they say E-102 slowed down the game.....even though there was fishing in the same game? How can fishing be expected in a sonic game? It is the last thing I expected to be in a sonic game. Fishing required patience (as it does in this game), which isn't very consistent considering what the other characters can do. If I wanted to play a fishing game, I wouldn't pick up this game! The fishing process is long and painful. You need to wait for Froggy to catch the hook, and be careful not to waste your time with the other fish. Then, you need to reel in Froggy, being careful not to snap the line, or you'll lose a live. There are four levels of this, each as boring as the last, and even a boss for this character, if you can believe that. It's stupidly easy, I said "That's it?!?" quite a few times. Why did they bring in a character that had to use such a slow paced skill such as fishing? Seriously......fishing. it slowed down the pace of the game considerably. In fact, I want to know where this guy came from. Well, at least something good happens when you clear every character.
Each time you clear a mission, you get a thing called an Emerald. These are fairly useless, apart from showing achievement. Each mission has three classes, Class C, B and A, each one increasing in difficulty. Each character has a different formula to follow when they go up a class, weather it's clearing a level with a certain amount of rings or......catching heaver fish....But you need to get to these by going to the "missions" section in the main menu and pick a different class to get that Emerald. There are even Emeralds hidden in the hub world, which is a very nice touch. Some can only be obtained by certain characters. Of course, there are some mini-games about, such as the Twinkle Park Car Track Thing, where you can go around a track in a car for an Emerald. I find it funny how sonic is in a car, yet he could probably run several times faster than it. Ah, to find such simple flawed logic... Then there is the Chao garden. Chao are small, blue, adorable creatures that you can raise. You can find different coloured eggs around the hub world, and even transfer them to Sonic Adventure 2. Ah, memories....Although I didn't put much care into Sonic Adventure 1 Chao. It's in Sonic Adventure 2 that I put most of my care and love into them.
The controls are alright, sometimes I suddenly fall off the edge for some strange reason, sometimes I think it's the controls, as they think I'm going a different way due to camera angels, and sometimes I feel it's the level design, but I dunno. I can never work out one from the other. The music is both catchy and....fun I suppose. I didn't really notice the music all that much. It blended in well with the game, so much so it sort of camouflaged into the background. Maybe it's the fact they used (for the most part) the same type of music in the cut scenes and such. It's really annoying, as I am writing this, I am trying to remember the Twinkle Park theme, as it was really catchy, but all that is coming up in the Green Hill Zone music.
Overall, I give this game a 7.9/10     The game certainly was enjoyable (.......fishing......) for the most part. The game had loads to offer, with it's Chao gardens and hidden emeralds and it's second and third classes of missions, it would take a degree of patience to go through everything. Even though the storyline was laughable at times, on the whole it is a decent game, and it is worth playing. The final boss really is worth it, even if you have to play as Big to get there, and the song is awesome, so do yourself a favour, play this game and get to that point.

Sonic Adventure (DC)- Review   dazzsheil
Sonic Adventure is often described as one of the best Segways in gaming, along with Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64. For 1998/99, this game probably had the best graphics of any game ever. The sound kicked ass along with a unique style of game play, as you see, Sonic games are normally Platformers but Sonic Adventure is entirely different: Read the review to find out why!
Let's start off with the Graphics of Sonic Adventure.
Sonic Adventure must've been the best looking game of all time when it launched in 1998. It completely out mastered anything the PlayStation or Nintendo 64 could do, even a game like Majora's Mask couldn't beat this in terms of graphics. The animations are very hit or miss, especially the mouth movements, but the game set the standard for future DC games, including the MUCH better looking Sonic Adventure 2.Each of the environment's and HUB Worlds (I'll get to them) have a really good atmosphere around them and none of them really look the same.
Sonic Adventure's Sound was ear melting.
Honestly you only have to look at the song Open Your Heart by Crush 40 (Who debuted in this game, so extra points go towards that!!!) to prove that Sonic Adventure has a kick ass soundtrack. Along with great level songs like Azure Blue World....for Emerald Coast, Windy and Ripply.....for Emerald Coast and, of course, going up and down and all around with the song Run through the Speed highway....for Speed Highway are all major standouts in my opinion. What brings down a few points is the Voice Acting. You can't help but cringe or laugh at some of the lines in this game. It's not as bad as Sonic '06 but still, it's not very good.
Was Sonic Adventure Addictive?
I Wasn't a big fan of the HUB Worlds (or Adventure Stages as the game calls them). I mean, they were very varied and large enough but they just felt really bland in my opinion. The actual platforming segments I could replay over and over again trying to beat my High Scores and times and it really kept me playing the Dreamcast longer than I thought I Would play. It's a really addicting experience and the story isn't that bad!
Speaking of the Story....
Well to be fair the story wasn't that bad, I mean sure it's laughable at some points but in all fairness, this is the only Sonic game that's tried to go dark and it actually worked. Without spoiling too much; EGGMAN/ROBOTNIK IS TAKING OVER THE WORLD USING SOME GIANT BLOB OF WATER AND SONIC WANT;S TO STOP HIM. I say that sums it up without revealing too much. :D
Was Sonic Adventure a difficult game?
Not really. Sure, some of Amy and Big's stages were kinda hard but overall it's not that bad. If a game has a pretty easy final boss, I think it's safe to say the rest of the game is extremely easy.
Overall?
Sonic Adventure is a must own for DC Owners. YOU MUST GET THIS GAME!!!!!!
8.5/10 :)

One the best Sonic games to date   Joe Ma-Ma
This game is without a doubt one of the best sonic games to date. The game is short, but you can ignore that for a lynch title for a failed yet one of the most underrated gaming console. The graphics were mind blowing at the time but it isn't anymore, but does graphics really matter? If the game is fun and making you keep on playing then graphics aren't everything. This game is actually hard, it's challenging unlike the other Sonic games I played, like Sonic 06 and Sonic Boom were you can glitch your way throughout the whole game, which that's another thing, unlike a lot of Sonic games now in days this game isn't broken, that's what Sonic games now are like, broken. The game gives you stages to go through beginning to end, in Sonic's story you run to the end of the stage, simple enough. Tails's story you have to race Sonic to the end of the stage, which feels way too much like Sonic's story. Knuckles story I had trouble with, you have to find the master emerald pieces in the stage, I'm not very good at that kind of thing. Amy's story is literally running away from a robot that's trying to kidnap her, good thing there's only three stages to Amy's story. Gamma is shot any thing in your way, shooting them gives you more time and you lose a life if you run out of time. Big's story is fishing, which I'm glad that playing style didn't return in a Sonic game. It's much harder then it sounds trust me. The sound in this game is fantastic, especially the song Open your heart that is stuck in my head to this very day. The soundtracks will not disappoint unless you have a bad taste in soundtracks, but who am I kidding, everyone can have their opinion right? It's a good thing my Sega Dreamcast is still working so I can play it over and over. The game will really keep you coming back for more. The story isn't really that impressive, but the story in a Sonic game is usually simple like this story, every story in the game crosses over with each other with Sonic stopping Robotnik, Tails also stopping Robotnik, Knuckles restoring the broken master emerald, Amy helping a little bird out, Gamma being a robot for Robotnik then betraying him and destroying the robots in the E series robots that came after him, and finally Big trying to get his best friend frog back. I will not spoil the final story for you so you don't have to worry about it. All in all they are all simple based stories. This game does have it's flaws though, and I'm going to warn you about them. Tails story was too much like Sonic's story expect for the last level of tails story, I think Tails shouldn't have his own story if it was going to be like that. Big's story is about fishing and is boring as crap and I can barely tolerate Big's Story. The game was also short disappointingly but it will not disappoint you in game play and the slightly dark story, but not that much dark. Overall I recommend you play this game if you haven't played it yet, you're really missing out on this game. I'm also going to throw this out there, the Nintendo Gamecube port is not as good as the Sega Dreamcast version.

I know this game isn't great, no I will not stop enjoying it   Doomstruck
This game has not aged well, and I don't think I've really aged, so it's perfect for me! I understand fully that this game has like 50 different ways it could be torn apart, but I'm here for the .5 ways I can defend it, because I love this game and will die on a hill for it. I just love how this game handles and the general tone and aesthetic. It has the best middle ground between SA2's edge (which I still love) and original sonic's kid-friendly cartoon tone. It feels like the closest to... well, a sonic adventure. There's exploration, secrets, and puzzles, and everything comes together in a package that really makes each level feel like it's a part of a larger cohesive world in a way that no other sonic game has pulled off successfully.
Let's get the biggest hurdle out of the way, the game handles incredibly loosely. It's not a game you'll be used to right off the bat, but if you've seen hardcore players with this game, it's easy to see that there's more going on than just an awkwardly handling pile of glitches. It really does feel good to get a hang of the controls and learn to traverse levels with speed and grace. And even when you make it to Big's story, it's really not that bad, it controls fine, if you're even remotely good at fishing minigames, it'll be over in like a few minutes. Don't worry about it. You might even have a bit of fun!
Graphically......... it's a mixed bag. Sure, it has some low-quality models and weird animations, but almost every re-release of this game has its own issues added on to the pile, for every problem fixed in Director's Cut. The environments are easily the best aspect of this game's visuals, and a lot of them still evoke a sense of wonder and adventure in me, even as a slightly more jaded 20-something. There's a reasons you'll find people posting scenery gifs of this game, despite its low-fi visuals.
The soundtrack in this one ranges anywhere from okay to GODLIKE, with songs like Unknown from M.E., Red Hot Skull, Pleasure Castle, and Speed Highway. And If you've ever been a fan of this game, you can't deny that Open Your Heart is an absolute classic among the genuinely amazing line up of Sonic theme songs. Even the adventure field themes are memorable and catchy. If I'm in the middle of a Sonic Adventure playthrough, you can bet I'll have the station square song going through my head at any given time.
Oh speaking of adventure fields, though, can we please bring those back? I love the adventure fields so much in this game, I actually wish there was a sonic where those are the main level types, a la Mario 64. The open ended nature of these fields weirdly enough emboldens me towards messing around with the more obscure speed building methods the game has to offer, considering there's no risk to dying due to losing control or overshooting a jump. Or at least, if I did die it doesn't really matter much at all. It's not a level, after all.
One thing that also helps to add a sense of adventure is its fantastic blending of Sonic's lighthearted tone we all know and love with some more serious story moments, but these moments never feel like they're veering into edge territory. Chaos as a main threat fits the feeling of a fun adventure perfectly. He's threatening and dangerous, but he's also got an air of mystery and a connection to an ancient past that makes it feel like you're unearthing a deep history as you learn Chaos's origins. And if we're gonna talk about more serious story moments, Gamma's story will always hit me emotionally, and it still messes me up a bit. It shows a darker side to the consequences of Eggman's actions, and how those consequences can go unseen by anyone. In the process of kidnapping these animals and using them to power his robots, Eggman mistakenly creates a mechanical being who's capable of genuine emotion, and when he turns his back on his creator and begins to fight for justice, it becomes clear to Gamma that his very existence is stifling the existence of another innocent life. By dying, Gamma frees the animal trapped within him, and perhaps lives on as part of that animal, but ultimately, a life that shouldn't have been was created, and even when that life became morally just and capable of empathy, its life was still in direct opposition of another innocent life. Gamma's story is an unexpectedly deep look into how no matter how petty one's misdeeds may seem, you can't predict the consequences or tragic outcomes that will play out from just beyond one's perception of the larger picture
And on that incredibly dire note, it's a fun game! Good times, I recommend playing Gamma's Death Adventure.

Sonic Adventure   lilrobbiegal
Back in 1991, we got a groundbreaking breakthrough in the gaming community. A character and his game becoming an evolution in our lives. We got Sonic the Hedgehog, the fastest thing alive. Years after Sonic first broke the sound barrier, we got a 3-d Sonic game called Sonic Adventure. Of course, this game was not our first 3-d Sonic game. The earlier one being Sonic 3-d Blast. Sonic Adventure had graphics that looked great in the year the video game came out. Of course, nowadays we have got better graphics - a lot better graphics. But to go on about Sonic Adventure, it was a very fun game and still is, consisting of high-speed action and some funny events happening in the plot (Sonic`s face when he screams due to the fact that he sees that Tails is about to crash, and more.), and some serious twists in character`s attitudes. Sonic Adventure, in my opinion, is a very well done game. I like the speed and the level layouts. I also like the character`s attitudes, like Sonic`s carefree life, Tails love for building and fixing machinery, Knuckles over saturated belief in the good of people, and Amy`s light-hearted, love-struck attitude. Overall, Sonic Adventure is a good game full of action, speed, agility, tense moments, funny moments, and mystery. A good game that I personally recommend you to play.

Works great! I have no complaints with it, especially sense my computer having such low ram and that it has a very outdated graphics card. It actually works if not, perfect, than almost perfect.
