What's something you wanted to try that you were thinking would be a jolly good time, but it ended up being horrible?

For me, I thought I would enjoy the Buzz Lightyear ride at Disney World where you shoot things with lasers but I ended up having a very rough time. My score was horrible and I got annoyed when the ride would suddenly spin me a different direction.

I once got noticed when seeing friends playing Just Dance on the Wii. They asked me if i wanted to join and unfortunately, i said yes. I joined them and already at the first movement, i quit.

I love video games. I'm just not so good in those kind of games. xD

MarioLucarioFan64 : Oh, man. I'm not good at dancing in general, so I would have the same problem if I was placed in that situation. Well, maybe I wouldn't even say yes to playing it. XD

Hm... I usually enjoy most everything (that I try and play or attend), so nothing has really turned out to be "horrible," but there were a few times when I attended some parties that weren't very well-organized and the events that should have been more fun turned out well... a lot less entertaining than I thought they would be. ^^0;;

Yuna1000 : Well that's really good! Parties usually aren't my thing either unless I know a lot of people there. I'm often very different than everyone else there and I don't want to play most of the games. The food is always great though XD

I feel your pain, OP. Seems like those guns had a rough sense of recognition.

My worst experience was probably going indoor surfing, it looked so cool, and it was so amazingly awesome until we actually did it. Now that was a problem.

The water kept bashing against my legs and by the end of it red bruises covered my nasty scars. The wetsuits were tight and to be completely honest it hurt to bump against the back wall after being thrust upwards.

realplayer109 : They probably did have bad recognition even though so many people try it.

Wow, that does sound painful. I don't even like swimming all that much so I wouldn't be able to handle being slapped by the water.

For me it was Mega Man X7. I am a huge Mega Man fan esp the classic, X and legends series. Mega Man X line had some good games in it X, X2, X3 and X6 where my favorites. I was excited when 7 was going to come out. I was like I can't wait to get this game. Well, I got it and played it. Lets just say it was not fun at all. In fact, it was one of the worst Mega Man games I played. I wrote a review on that game mainly ranting about it. The graphics where terrible, the controls where awful, the game switched from 2d to 3d at random, and the music was poor quality. I did not enjoy that game at all. So yeah that was something I thought would be fun but ended up being not fun at all.

The last thing I bought that fits this description was this Atari system bundle that came with 100 games on it. It was Black Friday of last year, and Kohl's brought these old system bundles out (the other one was a genesis I believe), and since I had a discount on top of the already low price, I only spent about $30 dollars on it.

When my shift was over around midnight, I purchased the system and brought it home with me. I set it up the next day hoping it would be somewhat fun to play. I played around 2-3 different games and in all of them, I had no idea what I was doing, what the objective was, or how the controls worked. You would think that a simple joystick and 2 buttons would make things simple, but it didn't. Long story short, I didn't really enjoy any of the Atari's games and I haven't touched it since I bought it nearly a year ago.

My church once hosted an African church and I was invited to attend the African Church. I was really unsure if I should go or not because I did not know what whether the service would be in English or African. I went and all the people there were dressed in traditional African garb, the women were absolutely stunning. The service was all in African (I know that is not a language but I could not do understand enough of the language to tell you which African language it was) but the "service"consisted of everyone singing joyful sounding songs and dancing, which I think churches should have more of. Every once in a while the pastor would fall down on the floor and start either praying or prophesying ( the only worlds I could understand were hallelujah and Jesus), that part was a little too charismatic for me, but I do now t believe there is any wrong way to worship, just diffferent personal preferences. I was sing and dancing and I have a good time when suddenly the pastor stopped pointed his arm down the road and started shouting something, the only words I could understand were "our sister, our sister". I thought to my myself, " no this is not happening, there is no way he is doing what I think he is doing". Suddenly as if on cue the whole church turns to look at me and suddenly just descends on me in a mob hugging me, shaking my hand, and speaking in tongues over me.

I have never bolted so fast from a church in my entire life.

For those of you who do not go to church do not worry this is a very unusual way to meet newcomers.

Falling in love (every time it's happened haha).

It's great when it works. But usually the falling in love makes me feel like I've lost control, and I'm a person who likes having control.

To fall in love effectively, you have to let go of all reservations and jump into someone and hope they catch you.

My experience is usually the people don't catch you. When they do it's nice though.

There was time when I believed every Eddie Murphy film was going to be a bucket of laughs and loads of fun would be experienced in theatres near me.

Then Dr. Doolittle remakes came out. Remade Nutty Professor as well. It did not appear to flop at first but then it started to " blow " air out of a jumbo sized blimp casting a total eclipse on an entire football stadium.

Then the agony continued as Norbit hit theatres. Lame ending, lame middle and weak as sugarless iced tea beginning.

Then there is that haunted house film went straight to video or something ten Halloweens ago.

I also discovered that Beverly Hills Cop III from back in the day turned out to be absurdly stupid and betrayed the better story telling in the first two. Was there a fourth Beverly Hills Cop? I should hope not.

I also believed Pokémon Go was going to be funner than standard Pokémon. Then it hit consumers like a wave and lots of people were available to show me how they played Pokémon Go. It does not even come close to the playability of Pokémon Blue, Pokémon Red, Pokémon Yellow, Pokémon Silver, Pokémon Gold, Pokémon Crystal, Pokémon Ruby, Pokémon Sapphire, Pokémon Emerald, Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, any of the Pokémon hacks I have played here or as Pokémon roms from alternate sources. Pokémon Go is a wiggling blob of gelatin to me. Poke it and it jiggles; that is about all it does.

Also, going to summer camp was the least pleasant experience that I thought was supposed be wonderful. Kids my age were lame as usual and closed ranks quickly. Male camp counselors were huge and could buffet me out of the way quite easily when they participated in athletic contests with campers. The last time I " camped " with such a lame sauce Christian organization, the first night there were no such things as moments alone [you know, the whole point of camping - getting away from it all] and we were encouraged [read:required] to wander in and around Camp Imadene doing a tiresome follow the leader event. Leaders had lanterns [the only lights allowed to be brought] and we essentially stood around until " encouraged " to move on to various circuit locations to stand around again. If you do not like washing the dishes at your home, you probably find this kind of activity [standing still in one place for extended minutes makes you ache badly]. There was also some back bending task to be done when they shooed enough human cattle through to get each person to the front. Everything that occurred after that only exacerbated the horrible ache that had set in. Even people who fancied themselves well-meaning coming to check on me, made it infuriatingly worse of a physical pain with their irksome, innocent " I had no idea " sort of talk. The name Imadene tends to be a misnomer [due to word form similarity] because their people have no imagination. They could not even imagine that they could have caused you agony because " they do the Lord's work ". So the dull camp event was supposed to help enlighten people through induced strife masquerading as fun. Other camps had been no picnic but Imadene could be renamed " I'm a dying ".

There is still another big letdown I remembered earlier but I forgot again as I was writing the Eddie Murphy bit down.  It might have been another movie franchise that blew like the wind. I will add it some other time if I remember again.

Edit: Oh, okay. I remember now. I have said this at any opportunity where is applies but something that used to be very fun for me gradually was not anymore. Like the frog staying calm as the refreshing pot of cold water it swims within is slowly brought to boil until it is too late to attempt escape, I got out of a favourite Sunday activity of mine after realizing it was not so fun anymore. It took me a a while to realize how bad it was. The periodic event I attended for two years with no ommissons was WWE pay-per-views aired at my local Silver City theatre. At first, it was action-packed. One match after another with barely any break. No commercial breaks either. Just cartoon wrestling at its finest. They would fill up three hours of my Sunday just like that. It was so good. So exhilerating and the stunts they did to entertain were so ... done by them. Fast forward to twenty four months later and [ it took me a few attendances to figure out that this was all it was going to be from now on ] the matches at pay-per-views were entrenched in stale storylines. Each match had a recap story aired with before it that disturbingly was longer than plenty of the matches stretched on for. When I made Wrestlemania number twenty-five my last Sunday event, I had seen and believed that there was more recap in the broadcast than new action. Ick. I would still catch the occasional regularly aired show some weeks but not as frequently as before. Excessive rehashing of old drivel had told me I had seen all this before. I had seen familiar characters in the shows do exactly this that was unfolding before my eyes and nothing creative had been booked or written into their dialog or actions in quite some time. If they could just concentrate on making the matches good ... but they did not do any such thing. They also changed up the televised personnel quite a bit very quickly but kept the stale storylines for them to act out. It just was not the same anymore. I didn't give myself a chance to warm up to the new stunt actors though to be fair, nobody told them to do anything original or even suggested they had to. Taking a fall off the top rope? I saw that too many times. The most creative thing most knew how to do was a suplex from up there. It is just like eating granola for every single meal or worse yet, watching granola slither off a spoon into the mouth of a five chinned sumo wrestler while you are eating every meal with him.

Thank you but no thank you.

But then again, thank you for reading. It was a horrifying journey to get here. God bless.

God bless.

I would have to say doing basically anything with my family. At first its ok, and maybe even a bit entertaining... but very shortly after, it becomes something that is mundane and irritating (my relatives ask too many personal questions for my liking...).

Postman3 :
There wasn't a Beverly Hills Cop 4, fortunately. I like to pretend 3 never happened as well.
In my world, there is only 1 and 2. Much like with Alien/Aliens.

I see then. The first two are always the top two. The rest are superfluous money makers with nothing added to arts and culture. Agreed.

Return of the Jedi was just a little bit worse than The Empire Strikes Back but slightly better than everything that followed.

Spider-Man III showed what a bunch fakers the creative minds and top talent running the franchise really were.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was directed by Alfonso Cuaron. The faulty production of the entire film was a mistake and the movie franchise became unravelled from then on to be unrecognizable from the literature. Hiring Alfonso Cuaron is always a mistake. His films can make money but only when the core material is a sure thing, like Potter. Being a creative risk-taker does not suit the career of a man of such low standards of ability.

Despicable Me 1 and 2 worked great. Minions spin off was fine. Then they make main film number 3 and it is old news a month into theatres. Maybe Minions 2 would have worked better for people but is anyone still interested now.

2 Fast 2 Furious from way back was the final one of them that was bearable to watch. Too far diverged from franchise launching story material and it gets stale even if the formula stays the same.

Toy Story 3 ? Well, did anyone go see that ? I would not guess so.

Transformers. How many times do movie audiences have to hear Shia scream "BUMBLEBEEEEE!!" before they realized how wholly unoriginal and stupid it is? I think I realized that in the second one it had reached its expiry date.

Shrek 2 was the upwards limit of how much the franchise material could be retrodden all over again.

You are right on target with this one Vanelan. All these characters and stories started out very fun to watch on the silver screen but it took a while for the nerds in charge to recognize the magic petering out when it was happening before their eyes.

P3    Bye bye Miss American Pie.

There has been a few things, like going to the movies with friends, and seeing a certain movie, or a prank that I thought would be funny, and ended up being really stupid or was a bit awful. I will never forget, back when the movie Bruno came out, I think the hype of Borat, and the type of crude humor that movie had, made me and a lot of my friends laugh, so we thought Bruno would of been decent enough to go see, so me, one of my best friends, his girlfriend, and a girlfriend at the time, along with 2 other friends decided to go see it, after about 20 minutes, we realized, how crappy the movie was, and walked out, and I think we ended up heading to a party and getting wasted drunk. That movie was complete trash.

I went into "Rock Band" with an open mind.  My friends said it was a good time and they had a lot of fun playing it so I said, "Sure, let's try."

It was boring.  I pressed buttons, got the timing down, and found no joy in the game.  Even with other people it didn't do anything for me.  Sports games and Street Fighter II are the games I like when it comes to multi-player.  Rock Band is a hard pass for me.
