San Bernardino, California had a school shooting recently, according to many news outlets - even foreign news outlets like the BBC are reporting it.
Multiple people have reportedly been injured, including the assailant. Two adults have been confirmed dead.

It's weird, I thought California had the strictest gun laws in the US, but a shooting still happened. It's almost like having the strictest gun laws don't prevent shootings. They don't even prevent school shootings.

Strict laws don't prevent crime... If I am going to commit a crime, I'd commit a crime, regardless of law. We need to bring some kind of protection, have police fill out their route paperwork in the parking lots of schools, have surveillance, or something, not make more law. Law is just words written on paper, it won't help. 

My hear goes out to all those who are affected by shootings. Pointless deaths without cause, without purpose! Nothing makes me more angry than those who want to bring down as many as they can with them.

It was being reported last night that the man's girlfriend or wife was splitting from him due to domestic violence and abuse. The shooter had a long list of assaults, domestic violence and drug charges. He would have been banned in all 50 states from owning a gun legally. 

My questions are this, If he had so many reports on him and a history of violence why was he not locked up and why was he let go. Second, who or how did he get the gun. In all 50 states he would have been banned.

Any gun that shoots over 10 rounds is banned, all bullets have to be chipped, to buy bullets you have to have a license and can only buy so much. Also California is a May issue state. Meaning that even if you pass a background check, have no record and pass a test you can still be denied a permit. Also some guns have to be registered.

Seriously, I concur with darthyoda. When one wants to commit a crime, laws are at the very bottom of one's worries. The only thing gun laws do is disarm honest, otherwise law-abiding citizens. I read a statistics (I admit I haven't checked it in details) that all but three shooting in the past 50 years or so happened in gun-free zones.

No, it wasn't. While the shooter MAY have been motivated by that religion, the fact remains that HE pulled the trigger, NOT "Islam". 

Blaming religion or ANY arbitrary trait (sex, skin color, education level) is just an excuse to deresponsibilize humans. Unless the shooter is proved mentally ill, HE pulled the trigger knowing exactly what would happen.
