I've been on this amazing site for several years now. It's brought me so much happiness and entertainment for the past half decade. This site always brought me up when I was down amd provided as a place to escape to. But something completely life wrecking was introduced into my life recently. The school called my parents and told them about an extremely offensive joke I told about a kid's dead father (he used to bully me.) And my parents were very upset about this, being the 5th time an occurrence like this had happened, they took me to a therapist to see if that might solve stuff. When I was there, they asked me a series of questions, and, something horrible was revealed. I am a diagnosed sociopath. I can't deal with this mental illness on my chest I need advice friends. I can't bear this for much longer.

Wut? Don't kys dude, that's like wasting a lot of possibilities that could be happening to your life in the future. Just because you're diagnosed as a sociopath, doesn't mean you can't be a good person and contribute to the society. The point is killing yourself isn't worth it my guy, chill out a lil bit

Lemme guess... They asked you a few questions like "How do you feel? What happens when [insert thing]? What do you think about that? Oh, OK. we have something for that. You can come back once a week for the next two years and make sure you regularly take three of these pills a day. Bye"

A lot of "doctors" are hacks. Get a second and third opinion from different people that don't know each other. And even if they all agree, don't make any knee-jerk reactionary decisions if you're upset. You have inherent value. Don't throw away what possibility of success you have because someone who spent too much on a piece of paper that has three letters at the end of their name told you there's something wrong with you.

if your doctor is right about this (which they may well be), then my advice would be to accept it and think about the fact that you can still do good things; i agree with skrt-lord. know that this doesn't mean anything regarding what you can or cannot contribute to society. you seem genuinely worried about this, so i have full confidence that you would be able to say and do what you think would be right. i don't know all that much about about what sociopaths' traits are "supposed" to be like, but i do know that it is a spectrum of some sort, so you shouldn't worry about what you would become like based on the sociopaths you hear about. the ones you hear about are likely famous for negative reasons, but that's why people talk about them. the majority of people who are diagnosed as sociopaths function as normal members of society, and that's why you don't hear about them. i've read that it's more common than one would think (1 in 100 people). in fact, the same source tells me that 1 in 25 CEOs are likely to be sociopaths, reinforcing that the majority are regular people with regular jobs, but that's besides the point. what i'm trying to say is that your doctor isn't necessarily wrong - it's possible, but i wouldn't recommend clinging to the hope that the diagnosis was wrong because if it turns out to be right, then that would be greatly more damaging to you. if, to be happy, you desperately relied on a hope that turned out to be false, i can't imagine how horrible it would feel to find out. that's why i'd  suggest seriously considering the diagnosis, what courses of action to take, and which mindsets to adopt assuming there were no mistake. be prepared, and acknowledge that being a sociopath does not limit you as much as you probably think it does. you are evidently frantic about this; that, along with the fact that you keep reaffirming that you "love us" tells me that you are a good-natured person with a strong desire and capacity for doing good things, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you aren't a sociopath.

I would prefer you don't kill yourself, you have a lot of life ahead of you. Don't let being a sociopath get in the way of that, I happen to be very good friends with a sociopath and she is perhaps the funnest person I have ever met thus far. I get you feel bad, but this isn't the way to go, much less for this specific reason.

If you want to continue talking then I'm open to PM or a Skype/Discord chat. I care a lot more about people than a therapist.
