So, recently I remembered the Cheats feature introduced in Mednafen, and since I did very few tests on my old computer I gave it a second try with my new computer.

It's been a bit hard to remember how to input them, but I finally managed to get them working. The game I'm testing is Gundam Battle Assault 2 for PSX, and while as of now I've just tried a single cheat, I've seen that the game instantly freezes after using it.

My only testing field has been the VS CPU mode, and after a battle using the cheat code to get a different character from the one I've selected (in other words, to access unlockable characters) the game freezes just before it gets back to the Character Select screen. This means that I have to open and load the game again if I want to keep playing, which can be kind of annoying on the long run.

I don't remember this happening with my old computer, but true is that maybe I didn't get this far using cheats and just discovering how to input them. Still, I'm getting the problem now and I want to figure out if it's just my end (because PSX doesn't run very well for me in Mednafen) or other people could also stumble upon this problem. I think I can test solutions for myself, and if so I'll update this thread or make a separate post about my findings.

Just in case it's needed, I'm using Windows 10 and Google Chrome. The only thing I could change is the browser, but Edge doesn't have my friendship and I'm not going to start it now, even if it's Christmas.

Any kind of help is appreciated. I can provide more details if needed, and like I said, I'll do more tests on my own to dig a bit deeper in this.

Have you tried on other systems?
I think the way PSX loads/caches data might be causing the freeze.

Vanelan : Well, I've had no use for cheat codes on other systems, so I've yet to test this somewhere else. Seeing how you imply that it might be a general issue I'll run those tests and see if I find anything.

For now, I did find a few things. The only screen that freezes is the Character Select screen right after a battle, whether you let it end or not. Going back to Title Screen before the match is over works, but you have to start over again and of course you miss the winning quotes and all those things. No big deal, but seemingly is the only way around that exists.
