as some of you might know there have been some weird cases happening recently where some crazy people have been going around dressed in clown costumes attacking innocent people for no reason,I remember a time when clowns used to be funny and were used to entertain people especially at circuses and in parades in fact when I was a kid I remember going to a circus and one of the main events they had was when a small car would pull up in the center ring and a whole bunch of clowns would start coming out and just when everyone thought the car was empty someone would honk the car horn and there would be some more of them,to me it was amazing at the time how many clowns they would manage to squeeze into such a small car,back in my days we never had any bad incidents involving clowns in fact they were always funny to watch but now with the most recent things that have happened some stores are no longer selling clown costumes in fact I just read in the news that canadian tire has not only pulled all the clown costumes from their stores but they have also removed them from their website so no one can order them online,I now begin to wonder if clowns are soon going to become a thing of the past and if so how will it affect people who work in the entertainment business and are hired to dress in costumes to attend special functions such as kid,s birthday parties? so far back where I live we haven,t had any problems involving people dressed as clowns except for one incident that I heard about in one of our newspapers where 2 teenage boys decided to put on clown costumes and walk down a street where they came across 2 teenage girls they did not know and decided to scare them however according to what I read there was no one hurt and the victims did not press charges,and so I was just wondering how you all feel about clown costumes should the stores be selling them or should they all be removed?

no 8120 : In the Netherlands is an enormous problem with those clowns. It's already sad for them that some people are afraid of clowns and now this. Everywhere is a message of one of those clowns, scaring people. One clown was in Nijmegen (the Dutch place i'm currently in) and i've heard he got caught by the police and was sentenced to jail... for a few freaking hours. Please make it months if you really want to let this end, cops. (I know that there might be barely any police on this site. Hooray for talking to probably no one) And a lot of cities over here have this clown problem.

I hope it ends, for the safety of people with a clown phobia, for the safety of children and overall for the safety of everyone.

no 8120 : They should stop selling the clown costumes immediately until a solution is found to stop this "creepy clown" problem.

Some were saying it was based off of the new Rob Zombie movie "31" which has clowns in it. With that being said, I think the fad got ridiculous and stupid. People took it and went stupid with it getting themselves in trouble and almost killed

Pokemonfan1000 : Yeah, I think the movie was released already, it was just a direct to DVD/Streaming service movie if I recall. I know I am highly interested in it, but just haven't had time to see if it was released.

I have always wondered if the fad was due to 2016 being the 40th anniversary of when Steven King's Clown Horror Film "it" was released. In that film clowns, I wanna think some were vampires but not sure, terrorized people and chased them into the woods. 


In America clowns assaulting people were being reported just about everyday. Then October came and the election started dominating the news. November all that was on the news was the election. December its still been about the election despite it being over 6 weeks ago. Maybe the clowns are still out there and not being reported or maybe the fad has come an gone. 

I think another reason the clown assaults may have gone down was there were cases were clowns tried to kidnap children or assault people and got shot. In Georgia or maybe it was South Carolina a creepy clown tried to kidnap a woman's daughter as well as attack her. She pulled out her pistol and shot the clown. Police said she saved her daughters life and was not charged. In another state a creepy clown broke into a home and was shot again the homeowner was not charged. So that could be another reason clown assaults went down 

tornadocam : Almost forgot about that 40th anniversary of "It". Plus the remake was announced. Actually if I remember right the clown was a monster of some sort, almost alien or demonic like. It's been a while since I have seen it, and I own it on DVD. It's definitely a classic and the remaster looks good.

You know now that I think of it, I guess this "what happened to the clowns?" title could fit the election. I mean they are politicians and they area  bunch of clowns

I've never heard anything about it since the earlier reportings, so I don't know if its still an issue or not. I'm still gonna keep an eye out for clowns though, just to be safe.

I hope the lack of coverage on the clown jobs doesn't lead to something disastrous.

I don't even think those killer clowns are fake in the first place. Like, the people wandering around with creepy clown costume in the middle of nowhere, I believe its true, but the killer part, i think its fake. I think its just people that overhyped about haloween and it went viral and everyone starts to be hype about it, and it seems that the hype is over nowadays.

There was actually a guy dressed as a clown that got arrested in the next town over because he was harassing little girls at Wal-Mart. I'm not sure if it was some fad among sicko wannabe serial killers or something or if there's something to the whole movie theory, but I'm kind of glad that it seems to be over now. After what incident, there were a whole lot of paranoid local parents.

Wow.....not sure what to think of this, I grew up knowing what clowns were like. They were fun would cheer you up, but this....kinda sounds a bit scary. Something of the sort to do with that would be in horror movies, and not in real life I find it really silly people are doing something based on a movie. It not safe to do those types of things....

They want back into the depths of hell, waiting for the time where they can terrorize mortals once again.

Maybe the fad/trend just finally went away? oO;; I didn't see any clowns like the ones you mentioned near where I live, so I should probably be thankful for that. ^^0;; If people are still dressing up as those kinds of clowns though, the stores should probably remove the costumes (temporarily at least).

Taking away the costumes would be taking away the freedom people have. I can't believe I just said this about clown costumes. Anyway, it's died down, thankfully, and I don't think they'll be coming back anytime soon.

I can't believe I'm agreeing with Lexatom on this one, but yeah, as creepy as they are, removing clown costumes would be a statement about freedom of speech and expression that would frankly be unneeded in an era where clowns aren't even bothering people anymore (at least, intentionally).

In Trump's America, it might just happen though.
