Yes I have donated blood twice back in high school, I has been like 10 years!!


I am not allowed to donate blood anymore because they thought my blood was positive, later on however they did a retest and it came negative, but I am still not allowed to give blood which I don't see what the big deal is after it turned out negative, oh well.... it is what it is!!

I've always wanted to but because of my medication I can't. Maybe someday. My fiance's an active donor though.

Due to my disease, and by extension the medication I'm taking, I've been told not to donate. Such a shame, because my mother has done it a couple times and she has some interesting and equally funny stories to tell about it.

I donated blood twice during high school. I haven't donated since, but I've been thinking about donating again at some point.

My weight is a big factor into why I cannot donate blood. The must be certain weight to donate always gets me. It's actually a reason I want to gain weight. Even if my blood isn't rare, it could still be used. I am very happy that you choose to donate! I was actually just thinking of some negative things said on Facebook by people who have no idea what they are talking about when they say not to donate.

I donate blood regularly and I'm O negative so people like using it. I work for a hospital system and they constant have blood drives. I lost count of the total number of gallons I have donated over the pat 15 years or so but it's up there. I like to think every time I donate I save up to three lives. I've saved a lot of people at the cost of a pinprick and I get cookies and orange juice after it's all said and done.

I donate. I think it's important and we have the technology. I'm positively impacting people's lives and I'll never meet them and I don't care. It's good to know I've done something to make my neighborhood a better place. I try to leave everywhere a better place than when I found it.

I've donated whenever I can since high-school. It always makes me feel good, though I don't know if it's the good deed or the removal of excess iron in my blood stream. Also free snacks...

I've wanted to but can't because you need to be 18 to do so in Sweden. I don't even know what my blood type is. Thinking about it, might not be too good of an idea in my case since I'm underweight. Maybe in a few years when I'm 18 and have hopefully gained some weight, I'll be able to donate.

sonicbros : I have donated blood 133 times and still do in fact next month I will be donating again my blood type is A- which is considered to be a rare blood type and whenever I donate I always make sure to make an appointment for my next donation

Another one here that's under weight and doesn't know their blood type. I've been curious for a while about what my type is but I really doubt it's anything rare. I'm not exactly the healthiest guy in the world, so they may not even take it. I intend to have my blood tested eventually, though. If by blood's acceptable and I meet weight requirements, I'll definitely donate. I mean... what's the point in hoarding something my body produces all the time? If I have extra, I'm going to share.

I do it whenever I can, I've done it 3 times already and will continue to do so as my blood is apparently rare being O+ . I do it because I already make enough, so I'll give some to people who actually need a lot of it.

I have done it a couple of times. It is not as bad as everyone thinks it will be. First I think you have to be at least 17 and at least 110 pounds. Then you are pricked to see a sample of your blood in a tube of blue fluid,I think it is for iron. Then you are asked/given a questionnaire and this part is important,BE HONEST ON THAT PART. You do not want to foul up the blood supply. Then you are led into a sitting room,and have a needle in your arm and it is connected to a bag while you squeeze a ball to force the blood to flow. After they collect a pint of your blood,you may be light headed or dizzy,that is normal.

Then you are led into the canteen or refreshment area where you get some juice or cookies to replenish your blood sugars. Your blood volume recovers in 24 hours and you cannot donate for 63 days after that date. You should feel good,you did a good thing and you just might save a life. Heck,in my case the type of blood was made clear to me. When I was born,the military said I had one type,a civilian hospital said I had another type,and 17 years later,I learned I was a whole another type.

18,I hate to break it to you,but O+ is a common type. It is still highly prized though,it can be used for anyone of any type in emergencies.

I don't think I have, or if I would because when I usually get a lot of blood drawn out from me I get really dizzy. As much as I would like to help donate its just sad I can't because of how my body is. :/

Unfortunately, no. I haven't ever been close to any blood drives or anything like that. I'd like to donate at some point. If I can actually help someone who needs it, there's no reason to not help.

I don't cuz I don't like needles and any time I do as much as a blood test, the phlebotomist can never find a vein in my left arm and stabs me like 10x even though I tell them it never works. X.x

I have never but I would be opened to the idea. I am O+ so my blood would be quite in demand for all positive people.

However I did donate a lot of plasma in the past when I had the time. I admit I was doing it in part for the money I received, but hey! I was saving lives in the process.

I've never actually donated blood, per se, but I have donated plasma many times.

Back when I was strung out, I used to donate the maximum limit of twice a week for the cash they'd pay out. It was a great source of income when I needed money in a pinch.

Now that I think about it, I may have to go back to doing so just to have some extra spending money XD

I donated blood the moment I turned 18, more or less.

I am not a great person, but I wanted to pretend like I was.

I also had the intention of finding out what my blood type is. As it turns out, I'm A+.
