Anymore, It's hard to compete in the TDV as the site has lost A LOT of traffic and now there not many threads to reply to. I remember in 2013 I hit Ravering+ with around 200 posts IN ONE day. Today, we are lucky to get 300 posts a day by Everyone, not one person

Complaining about Vizzed is not going to help make it get any better.

Talking about problems is how they get fixed. I would suggest waiting a bit first before jumping in and saying. "let's not be negative" because sometimes we must be accurate in speaking our opinions as well as commenting on a said system's faults.

To be honest, I'm not certain how I feel about TDV. It could go either way for me, and I understand why people want to do it but I don't want to rain on anyone's parade so I'm hesitant to comment on any of it. TDV has been fun at times, and on others seemed completely spammy and pointless. I think the main thing is if you post that it has contingent meaning. . . otherwise don't post. That should come first before competing. You can post and try to bring meaning into something that seems to lack it at first, but that can be hard to do. So that's my take on it. Either way I kindof agree with you. . . but part of me wants to say that maybe something different is going on which I'm not aware of. Hope you enjoy the time you do choose to spend around here though, for TDV or not however. I think that posts you make should be for the sake of good posting above all else. That would help out TDV a lot as it is. . . if only we could get more activity along with it.

You.....just gotta have to learn how to deal with it sadly. Its not like as if it is going anywhere. So just do what you need to do to ignore it or something. tdv we know is how it is. And it will stay this way forever. Not everyone is happy with this tdv some people are those that still think it is fun. While some others feel otherwise about that. For me I'll post what I will but on a small scale. So when it is non tdv I can have my fun again which I look forward too.

I'm going to agree, but in a different way. Loss of traffic has another negative affect on the TDV because of having fewer places to post. Back in the day, with so many people posting, there was always a place to post and people could make a ton of good posts without running out of stuff to talk about. However nowadays, with less people posting in general and those people making more posts, its easier for people to run out of places to post, and when people are posting, with no more places to post and a lot of ideas already expressed in various threads, people start making some of the strangest and most random threads so that they aren't like ones that have been made. Sometimes it works out and gets attention but sometimes its either too similar to another thread or is just outright dumb and fails.

I'm one of the members on here that finds it hard to post when there's not many interesting threads around... and this TdV I've actually been easily finding places to post. It's surprising me because I'll likely get to 20 posts or more today, and the last time I've done that is more than an year ago. Maybe it's just because I've gotten more used to posting so it's easier to post.

You do realize that the site's loss of traffic affects everyone competing... so it's not actually harder to compete, just harder to do things like posting 200 times in a day while you're competing.

Don't get me wrong, I realize the traffic drop is bad for the site, but I kind of like the aspect of it being difficult to constantly find places to post. It adds more of a challenge to posting with something to actually contribute.

Here's an idea: If someone has so many posts (or a %) under 30 - 50 words in a day, then maybe they get DQ'd from Blue? I'm not saying it needs to be really strict or anything, but maybe if there was a limit on how many times someone could reply with single sentences, it would increase the quality of posts in TdV??

That's just a thought though. I realize there's enough restrictions as is, I'm simply speaking my mind.

There's nothing we can really do about it besides make do with what one has. I don't think it's a real big deal though, probably since I don't take the TdV too seriously. At any rate, getting some jerseys is still possible.

Making threads could actually be the solution. 

You could get a post AND more activity if you made a thread about actual topics- as you have done here. 

We do make a good amount of threads, and I do agree that there really aren't enough threads anymore, but that is kind of out of our control, unless we start making them.

I'm gonna have to agree with Barathemos on this one. The real solution here is for everyone to just put a little more effort into thread making... I realize that it's hard to come up with ideas, but I don't really think many of us try hard enough. Submitting a new thread is a far greater contribution than a few posts on a subject. That may sound hypocritical of me, but I'll be the first to admit that I'm as guilty as they come as far as lack of threads posted. We just need to work at it for a while, and we'll get a flow going.

I wanted to post here again to renew what I said about my post I said here. I am posting as if it is normally non tdv. I am working towards something. So I am not going to let the tdv affect what I am trying to do. Or where I am trying to get too. Just post when you want too. Its kind of sad when you think about how people change when it comes to the non tdv. And the tdv months. But hey people post new threads when they feel like it. '-'

The irony is that this post has contributed more to the activity of the site. So the OP is complaining about a lack of activity, which spurred a little activity.

And yeah, Vizzed is definitely more dead on the boards than it was 3 years ago. I recently spoke to geeo about this, and it's gotten to the point where you have to question "why" it's so inactive.

I mean, it's obvious, most of the posters who posted to the moon in back no longer do it. Why don't they? As someone who posted 18,000 times in a span of 2 years but only 77 times in this past month, I just think it isn't fun anymore.

As for why it isn't fun... who can really say. Maybe it's that I don't like the new community as much, or maybe I just don't have interest in talking (actually, probably not that, I love talking about myself). Maybe it's something else.

For me, the site just isn't fun enough to maintain my attention for very long. The TDV suffers as a result from the lack in everyone's activity.

legacyme3 : Ultimately it's the site traffic and the reason is because we don't have as many new users joining the forum to become active. Having more visitors on the site increases the number of new users and having more new users increases the number of potential new active users. The majority of active users eventually become inactive so having new users to replace those users helps keep the site maintain its posting activity. The site is getting literally less than 1/3 of the amount of traffic that it got at its peak.

Why active users eventually become inactive and completely leave is beyond me. It's not because Vizzed becomes less interesting (because if anything, it becomes more interesting all the time due to the new features), it's more likely that users just get bored with the site. How do we get veterans back? That's just as big of a mystery. I've spent years trying to find a good solution to the problem of users going inactive but still haven't come up with one.

Not saying you are wrong, but I would argue features don't make this place interesting. The community itself does.

A forum lives and dies based on the community. I've been to boards with no features that have been super active, and boards with every feature, that were totally inactive.

It boils down to the userbase itself, and my theory is the veterans don't "want" to come back because of the community. It's elitist of them to do so, if that is the case, but it doesn't make them automatically wrong. It's not something you can simply ask either, since the members aren't around to ask.

True, although 600 isn't a "terrible" number. It puts him solidly in the top 350 users to ever use the site. Just enough that it's clear he likes the site and pays attention, but not enough to have ever been hooked on the forums.

Well, I used to be active from 2012-2013 and got 500 posts. But after that I was dealing with college and other stuff and I didn't have time for this site. Now that it's summer I will be active more often.

Well as you said, the lack of places to post definitely provides a bigger challenge for TDV competitors nowadays, but I think it makes the competition more interesting at the same time because users have to plan out a good strategy of where they want to make their posts each day, and where they want to hold off from posting on until a later time. I really wish there would be more posting going on though, but the TDV is still fun to compete in regardless.
