Some of us tend to get a little over-excited about playing video games against friends or family. I can't say I've ever lost a friendship as a result, but I have managed to do myself bodily harm in the form of playing Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 on PlayStation 2 to the point of my wrist locking up for a half an hour and never fully recovering or leaving a scar in the palm of my hand after tearing it open trying to spin the control stick too fast in a session of Mario Party.

Do you have any old battle scars? Come and boast. Tell your war stories.

Eh....yeah I have at most points. But a saying goes keep enjoying gaming till it hurts. I only do that when I like play a game against siblings which would be crash team racing or mostly on my own. When I am on my own playing destiny with online people for the vanguard missions. This was before but. I would be the one doing the work depending on who you get paired up with. You know from the good players to the bad ones. The bad ones will make you do all the work. While the good players will help keep things stable and you can do the same for them. @.@

I know if I have damaged my hands the pain will tell me. And this would last for a few days. XD

Sorry to hear on your part. Games like that will make your hand. 0.0

This never happened when I was playing with someone, but I think I got my fingers hurt when playing Sonic Spinball in the third level(The Machine),but I was pressing the buttons so hard that I hit other keys in the key board and this made the emulator crash and I couldn't take the screen shot of the new high score I got.

OMG HAHA. I have a scar in between two of my fingers on my right hand that I got after playing New Super Mario Bros Wii a couple of years back with some friends (think we were like 12 at the time). That game's multiplayer is meant to make you hate each other.

We were playing for hours since we all got invited to a sleepover and we had a "no continue challenge" (you get a continue in the game when you reach 0 lives and then regain 5 of them, basically giving you 1 "ur bad" point every time you drop to 0).

Now I was doing quite well, world 6 or so and the only one with no continues so far (I was on like 2 lives for the past 3 levels lol). Then comes a Yoshi level. At a certain point you had to jump over a cliff, and my friend thought it would be a great idea to swallow me with his Yoshi and spit me out while he was jumping over the cliff. I was so pissed, I stormed out of the room and cut my hand on the doorknob while trying to slam the door.

We were all in tears after that lmao.

I rarely ever play competitively, and I don't recall if I've ever injured myself due to playing too competitively.

That's not to say that I can't be competitive though. When I get really frustrated because I'm not winning (lel) I might bang my hands against a desk or something near to me at the moment and hurt my hands. But then again, that's when I'm really frustrated at a game for any reason xp.

Yes, if I rage too hard when playing games, I find the nearest inanimate object and punch it. Glass, brick, TV, etc. Injury after injury.

zanderlex : I do something similar, only I punch myself in the leg. -__- Needless to say I don't let myself rage often because my leg couldn't take it.

m0ssb3rg935 - I have dome the exact same thing with Mario Party, though mine didn't scar. I could barely use that hand for a few days...but I managed to keep playing Mario Party, though I would never play that dumb Shy guy wind up game again...to this day I still won't. Lol

I've never been a competitive gamer as I prefer co-op, and I've never hurt myself playing either way, but as I said to you and zanderlex both: I'm no stranger to physical pain incurred from single player games. I'm not proud of it, but it's happened before and probably will again.

Furret : Dang man... I can't say I've ever seen a sharp door knob. O_0

Eirinn : That the one! That's the exact minigame that I tore my hand open on. I beat the record, too. I spun that thing like.... 56 times inside of the time limit, and I've not played it since lol

I have had similar experiences as you when I play Mario Party 1 as well. Those blisters were so terrible.
I also remember a time where I had a Gameboy and I had to share with one of my cousins when I was younger. We were both obsessed with the Gameboy and we had lack of patience to wait to play. We ended up playing tug-o-war with it to see who would get a chance to play with and then suddenly, the Gameboy flew with full force onto my face. My nose took the damage and I ended up with a bruise on my nose for a few weeks.

Other than my foot falling asleep while cross legged on the floor? Nope, can't say have I have injured myself gaming. Protip: If you are in a timed event,i.e. you have to hammer a button super fast, try rubbing a pen across the button rapidly. That has saved me some pain in The Warriors on PS2.

Nah I'm competitve to an Extent. but I'm not gonna be a try hard that ends up hurting themselves.

To me those guys need a break and need to remember to relax when you play video games.

Oi... I have a story pretty perfect for this thread.

So, back in high school, me, my brother, and two of my friends were playing Dokapon Kingdom. If you've never heard of Dokapon, it's known as the destroyer of sanity and friendships. It's an RPG mixed with Mario Party, basically. Anyway, I was doing amazing at the beginning. I had taken all of the towns on the first continent, I had a weapon you couldn't get until much later in the game from a red chest space, and I was miles ahead in stats.

Then one of my friends got Darkling.

What Darkling is is that, if you're in last place by a large margin, you have the option of becoming the most overpowered thing in the game and having ridiculous abilities in exchange for everything you have at that point. He had nothing, so he went for it. He saved up his Darkling points where all of the towns are taken away from their owners, used it, targeted me and trashed my overpowered weapon, and while I was dead, everyone else stole my towns and caught up in stats.

Yeah, that didn't go well with me, so I threw my controller down in frustration (GC controller, pretty durable). Except I threw it too hard at the wrong place, and hit my toe instead. I cracked the nail (including the pink part) and it bled pretty badly. That nail still has marks all over it from where it cracked...

Yes, several times. I have had numerous blisters because of games, I even mentioned it in a review I made for a wwe game on the SNES.

I've also had the infamous mario party blister, and i've really hurt my back when i sit in a certain position for hours.

Hm... competitively? None since I don't really play any multiplayer games.

However, I've managed to injure myself (thumb sprain and sore skin) twice when I was playing NBA 2k14 (been doing the dash and lay up stuff for the whole day and I was trying to win matches without having teamwork with my NPC team mates) and then another when I was playing Need for Speed Rivals (that was when I finally realized and accepted the PS3 or any Sony console controllers don't have the best analog stick positioning).

Me and my older sisters used to play DBZ Raging Blast on our ps3 very competitively. I never managed to injure myself, but the worst that ever happened to me was a headache from concentrating too much.

As for my older sisters, one of them managed to BREAK one of the controllers and they both started yelling and fighting over it. It was because my sisters were playing multiplayer against each other and one sister kept on winning a match against the other.

My parents came in to stop them from going insane, but it was hilarious to be honest. The expression on my mom's face was priceless to see a bunch of buttons on the ground (from the controller). Thankfully, no body was actually hurt though. (other than the controller XD) I tried to calm them down myself at first but they just ignored me.

I'm glad I don't ever react to a video game like that (even if I lost to one of my sisters). I do sometimes get frustrated but I don't physically do any sort of damage. Fun times I guess?

I get thumb cramps pretty often cause I'm a huuuge button masher. I might be at risk for carpal tunnel, seeing as I use my phone/the computer a lot, to the point of getting throbbing pains throughout my fingers/wrists. Other than that, I don't injure myself too much.

I've had your basic hand and back cramps from playing / sitting too long during one of my 18+ hour long binges.

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this, but as a kid (around 6 - 8) I got so mad at my Genesis, I slung the controller down, and the cord made a whip like motion pulling the plug out of the console, and the plug end came back and smacked me across the face hahaha. I cried like a little girl, but it really hurt lol. I'm just thankful I don't have a scar and have to tell this story often

Juliet : This is true. I always liked the PlayStation 2 controller because that's pretty much what I cut my teach on, so to speak. But ever since playing around with a Gamecube controller, it's never felt the same... They could handle a redesign. I'm also not very fond of the triggers on the ps3 controllers. My fingers tend to slip off of them when pressed, making it difficult to hold them down.

mohammedroxx3 : What is it with Dragon Ball Z games? It's almost like they named Raging Blast after the people that play it lol.

Phantasmicka : I'm a button masher, too. It's really not a good trait for someone trying to brush up on his Smash skills, but I can't seem to shake it off after doing it for a decade.

Mynamescox44 : Yeah... I've never had good posture, so I'll likely be a hunchback by the time I'm 40.

I can not call my way of playing "competitive", but playing in front of a computer (in addition to my regular job which involves a computer) is starting to give me carpel tunnel. I need to learn some exercises to avoid that.

Otherwise I can not remember of any pain when I played regular console games. However, the Super Nintendo controller was a little small for my big hands (unlike the Sega Genesis one) and made pressing buttons harder.
