I just saw this on Facebook. Sorry, Zelda Fans, but it looks like Zelda U has been delayed AGAIN, this time for a March 2017 release. It will be released on both Wii U and NX. Don't worry, Zelda Wii U will be E3's main focus, according to Nintendo's tweet.

So, what are your thoughts? Are you happy or sad about these news? Well honestly this was unexpected, and I was a bit sad and angry as soon as I knew this. But then I realized this: Delaying means better game. Oh, almost forgot, the Nintendo NX will also launch on March 2017.

Sadly this doesn't surprise me. I figured all along a joint release was the cause for the delays (and I suspect it is the true reason for the delays). It's sad, but at the same time if they use the extra time to make it better in any way, I'm glad of that. They really need to hit it out of the park on this one since it's a new step for the franchise.

And yeah, I plan to own a Wii U by then so yay.

I am going to assume the NX version will be better? I'd really hate to buy the same game twice. So I'm at a tough point here...Bravo Nintendo. A Zelda game has now officially been in development for a console's entire lifetime. Are they really releasing the NX so soon? It isn't like Nintendo to release games people actually want on release of a new console. That usually comes two or three years later...

Nintendo, PLEASE let this one be mind blowingly amazing! I know when you guys actually try you do a good job.

A user of this : Heh, I actually do not mind buying both versions. I like comparing them , just like I bought Smash 4 for both 3DS and Wii U. I expected the NX release to be in fall 2017, but why so early? Plus why would they want to release this awesome game after Christmas? I agree with you, the NX verison might be better, and perhaps will give additional features maybe??? Don't worry, Nintendo knows what it is doing .

Tell you the truth, the new Legend of Zelda was supposed to be released all the way back in 2014, but they delayed it till 2015, then 2016, and now in 2017 and being one of the launching games of the NX.

So, with all these delays, maybe the game will be amazing, if not, then all the wait would be wasted. Let's hope it's a great game.

Eh, I'm a bit hesitant with release delays since more time doesn't always mean better game, and might mean worse. But hopefully this game is good (and fun to watch on YT because... #PoorLyfe) and makes the delay actually make the game better. And I'm thinking that the delay is probably for the Nintendo NX so that Zelda Wii U is a launch title for the system. Maybe there'll be other launch titles as well. As for differences between the games, I hope there's something to differentiate them. Also, the delay might not help sales too much since it's not really close to a holiday... (people don't really buy games for Saint Patrick's day).

A user of this : I couldn't blame you for nabbing the NX version instead. But I would say you're a brave man if you plan to buy NX at launch. Wii U and it's extremely puny lineup has made me wary of Nintendo hardware. I won't buy one until it has several million sales personally just to be sure that they don't cut it off before it gets started like SEGA did with the Dreamcast. Still someone has to be the early adopters, so...thanks for helping make it a safe purchase for me. xP


Green - Yeah, but hey, open world + Legend of Zelda...how could it not be good? Also I (and many others) actually expected the NX to release this fall, so for me it seems late. I wonder why they're launching so early though... It's typical to release in November for holiday sales (because everyone wants to get their kids the new system). Are they hoping for a sales boom initially, plus a holiday boom? I could see that happening possibly but I think it's a bad idea because the sales generated in the first three or four months usually determine the success of the console.

Hopefully by this point I can afford one version of the game. I still have yet to actually play Skyward Sword to be honest. I'm extremely wary about buying anything before I see how it's received by the community though. I only pray all this waiting is worth it. If it's bad and they just released it way back when they first planned to, they could've possibly had another game out by this time. Either way I'm stoked to see how this open world concept plays out. Skyrim + Zelda would be a fantastic experience lol.

I probably won't buy an NX because I have moved on to PC and xbox one.

Even though I am not a big zelda fan I probably was going to get Zelda u, but tbh, Idk anymore at this point.

greenluigi : Well it could be a good thing delaying the release if they found issues and resolve them before releasing and angering fans many of us have played Zelda since the 90's and continued playing each release since, those are the fans Nintendo don't want to screw over due to eventually they will lose money eventually


Although it sucks having to wait longer but id rather wait and get a good game rather than get the game and be screwed over with bugs and the like then waiting on an update to fix it.

As a Wii U owner, this news felt like a complete kick in the face. I knew that Zelda U was getting an NX release(I mean, why wouldn't Nintendo do this?) but I was hoping that at the very least Wii U owners would be able to get first dibs on this game to at the very least make the console purchase a worthwhile one. But no, they have to be released at the same time and the NX version will be the superior choice being on the newer console and all. It makes the Wii U version seem kind of pointless since most will probably go for the NX.

So yeah, the news made me pretty salty, and really makes it feel like Nintendo just doesn't care about the Wii U or those who own it.

Eirinn : Yeah, I kinda learned my lesson with the Wii U and 3DS that buying on launch isn't a good idea. Especially because when it doesn't sell well in three months, they drop the price by $100! With three freaking years of delays to "improve" it, I hope that this game is the best Zelda game ever made.

IgorBird122 : Yeah, I really hope the new Zelda game will be a blast. Eiji Aonuma promised us to make it the best Zelda game there is, and I hope he keeps it.

Eirinn : Hehe, usually all 3D Zelda games are great! Especially this one, since it's Zelda's 1st open world game, so who knows, I might end up with a new favorite Zelda game .
