I believe I will be graduating late because I'm a third year student who would be technically due to graduate in May 2017.

I fear that I will graduate late because my school REALLY emphasizes taking 15 credits (5 classes) a semester. Total needed to graduate is 120. Some semesters, I've only taken 4 classes, with no winter / summer classes because 4 classes a semester is still considered to be full time and I wanted to just relax and hang out with friends and go on vacation with family during the summer and winter. I thought just 4 classes a semester would be fine, but then I realized that that's not too good for the 120.

Also, I've had to retake calculus last semester because I failed it (but finally passed) and I dropped French 3 this semester because the course work was just too much for me, with that of the other classes I am taking now, so these delayed me.

Is this really bad, honestly? I didn't even take a full year or semester off like some people do....

High school is where you should worry about graduating late, not college. In fact, most colleges actually encourage taking another semester or year simply so they can get more money out of it. If it's an associates degree (2 years) should take 2.5-3, a Bachelors degree (4 years) could take 5 or 6.

Right now I'm in the end of my 3rd year of college but I still need at least one more semester to get my associates degree, and it had nothing to do with my grades because I only had one class that was lower than an A during my entire time here, and even after I graduate here, I plan on doing another 2-3 years to get my 4 year degree.

I'm in a similar situation to you. I've lost quite a few years due to my disease, and even now I'm falling behind studies and I have to do less than 4 classes each semester. However, I don't think there's anything to worry about.

My only reason to not worry is that it's better to graduate than not continuing to study after high school, no matter how many years it takes you. In my class, there's a few people younger than me, but there are mostly "old" people, beyond their 30s or even 50s. True, they are at least on their second degree, but serves as a proof that it's better to keep studying than not.

Just try to follow the pace you feel comfortable in. Don't tackle more classes than you can handle, or it will burn you out. No matter how many years it takes, if you have the will and manage to work it out then it's fine.

As long as you graduate, who cares, right? All that matters is your degree. Oh,and making sure you have enough money to pay for it all,of course. I just hope it is useful to you.

I'm on board with Oldschool777 - as long as you graduate, it doesn't matter when.

I'm re-taking Grade 12 Physics and Pre-Cal this year, and taking Chem next year for the 3rd time. The first time I didn't take it seriously, and the second I wasn't in the right state of mind you could say lol. Does it frustrate me? Sometimes, but it's better late than never. I realize I won't be *starting* college until I'm almost or at least 30, and I'm okay with that.

To be honest I don't think it even matters if you graduate college late. High School it matters but College really doesn't as far as I know. I doubt the college would really care either since they want your money, and the more time you stay the more money they get. So graduating late really doesn't matter, though what do I know since I'm still in High School.

Personally I think it would be better to work at your own pace over trying to rush through it all. Many people have had to work while in school, and therefore needed a few extra years to complete all the courses, and still end up just as successful. No employer is going to look at a college degree and think "Well it took them an extra year to get, so I don't know if I want to hire them" (or even ask how long it took to get it).
It's much more beneficial to just make sure you graduate, no matter what the pace is. So no, graduating late means nothing in the long run.
