My sister is currently suffering from tonsillitis. This is actually the first time it has happened to her. It's looks pretty bad. She can't even swallow because of the intense pain. I suggested that she take some ice cold water, but that only made it worse apparently. I'm not sure how this situation should be handed. Does anyone have any tips about what I can do to soothe the pain. I really hate seeing her like this.

I used to have tonsillitis every single damn summer when I was smaller.
You could try letting her drink lots of liquid, either very warm or very cold.
Gargling with salt water could also help.

I also feel like saying this, but gargling with hydrogen peroxide is probably a very bad idea.
