I'm new to Vizzed and I'm super psyched to play some of my favorite games from when I was growing up and get to know some of you guys!  I was in the mood to play Pokémon Yellow so I googled "Pokémon Yellow free online" or something like that and I came upon this site. Well, I was really surprised that I never heard of it, this site is humongous!  I'm still trying to learn how to actually PLAY the games rather than just look at them staring at me and rate all of your screen shots, but I'll get there!  I can't wait to really get involved and integrate myself with the Vizzed community! You've just gotta look right above the screenshots, and you should see emulators to play on. Also, you've gotta download the RGR plugin (if you don't have or don't want to have to use Java), which I'll let one of the others link since I have no idea where it is, honestly. Normally, if you try to play one of the RGR-based emulators, you should get a link to where you can download the plugin, anyway. I'm not really the best at explaining things, am I?

It's not too much of a shock that you don't know of this place. I've done emulator-based gaming for recording for years, and never heard of this place until I had trouble with Atari 7800 emulation to try and play a game my friend recommended to me. I finally was shown this, and here I am now! Funny enough, I didn't notice the board until I wanted to type up a review for a game I was playing at the time (Klonoa: Densetsu no Star Medal), and obviously, from there, I found the rest of the board. So you're already ahead of me there, buddy. I hope you enjoy both the games here and the board; we've got some awesome guys here.

"Mew" is perfectly fine by me! And I was going to use the RGR emulator however (and all my friends consistently burn me for it) I have a Mac, and being that the RGR emulator is only for Windows, I don't believe I could download it. I tried using the Java ones but it just brings me to a mother window with a black screen. I'm going to check the troubleshooting section of the forums, I'm sure I'll be able to find somebody who has had this problem! Thanks SWTerra, good to hear from you!

Welcome to the site. Now that you found this place, I'm sure that Pokemon Yellow won't be the only game that you play because we have so many other Pokemon games for you to play and many others as well beyond Pokemon.

Mikeme: Cool, if you like Pokemon games, then I'm sure you would love some of the hacks, since I'm sure there are some that you have never played before, some of which can be really really good such as Pokemon Light Platinum as well as Ash Gray, both of which are really amazing.

How many of the games have you played already? Are you having a blast already?

Mikemew : Hey Mike! Welcome to the site! I'm always happy to see new members join the site and introduce themselves over on the forum site. Often times, people are so focused on the games, they don't even bother to come over to this side.

If you want to play games on the site. The easiest thing to do is to download and install the free and safe "RGR plugin". Found in this thread - https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=8676

This plugin is compatible with Windows platforms only. The best web browsers to use with the plugin are Chrome and Firefox (generally speaking)

The RGR plugin allows you to netplay a good number of systems and games with other users as well as take screenshots, save and load at any point in the games, and record and upload game play footage.

zanderlex : Actually, I was eyeing up one of the Pokemon Red hacks, the Team Rocket Edition one, it looked super cool. But the emulator doesn't seem to be working on my Mac, I'm going through the forums trying to troubleshoot it at the moment. Slowly but surely!

Mikemew : The only way you will be able to run the RGR plugin on a mac is if you dual-boot/emulate Windows on it with a program like Wine, or VmWare. Sadly.

Otherwise you can use the Java emulators for the systems that it's available for. Although a lot of the features I mentioned before aren't available for those Java emulators.

All you need for those is updated Java.

Mikemew : I never knew it could work at all for mac, but what Jordan said seems cool. I never played played the Team Rocket one, but I know about it and I hear it's a really good game, heard so many good things about it and the concept is amazing.

zanderlex : It should work on a Chromebook. You would be using the Linux instructions in the RGR to set it up, since ChromeOS is Linux based.

My favorite Pokemon game? Wow, that's tough. I've been playing them since the beginning. I think my favorite overall would be Yellow. Even though Nintendo and the Pokemon Company and Game Freak added SO MUCH new material and metastrategies, I love the simplicity of Yellow.

My favorite non pokemon game? I've never been asked that before. Hmm... Probably either Runescape or Super Smash Bros: Melee.  Might want to include Super Mario Sunshine in there, too. That's a hard one though, no fair!

Sadly, I know that there has been issues with the Java emulators ever since the recent server migration that David did. So I'm not sure when or if those are going to be brought back online.

Vanelan : Sadly it looks like there are still issues loading games on the Java emulators, although I only spot checked a few games.

Damn, what IS it about Pokémons? I guess I need to get myself into it.

Anyway, if Pokémon is you passion believe me you will have your fix, and then some! I hope you will also discover other interesting games along the way.
