So it turns out that one hundred and fifty heavily armed men have taken over a federal building. The statements I've found from one of the members of the group sounds frankly crazy.

I fail to see how this is a problem. People from the Occupy movement have been doing similar things and no one batted and eye. The present "occupation" is even quite pacific in comparison.

Besides they are merely asserting their constitutional right. The Tenth Amendment clearly gives residual powers to the states (or the people), and the Bureau of Land Management is therefore unconstitutional. In comparison the Occupy bunch wanted more of what is not working, i.e. more government.

Funny how occupying a federal building deserve the "right-wing militia" tag while left-wing movements always seem to receive more positive coverage.

The involvment of guns is still irrelevant. They still have caused less damage and menaced fewer lives than the Occupy movement... so far I admit it. However, considering the present administration their resistance will be crushed with deadly force since they oppose their omnipotence.

janus : Prove that the Occupy movement has caused more damage and menaced fewer lives, considering the stand off with the militia started recently and hasn't been going on like Occupy has.

We're talking about the Occupy Wall St. or Occupy Oakland or Occupy L.A., right?  Those Occupy Movements.

Could someone remind me what those accomplished?  I forgot.  Did we have massive sweeping changes and did we bring socialism to the United States?

What actually happened?  People just went home and back to their old jobs?

janus : Silly janus, you think we actually have rights. Rights are for countries that aren't full of people begging the government to give them everything, right down to the food they put in their mouths. Easy mistake though, because there used to be a country in the exact same spot as this one by the same name, and it DID give the rights it's Constitution dictated...but it hasn't been around for a while now. Not sure where it went off too...


As for the story, it's baloney for two reasons:
1. These guys are being idiots. Unless there is far more stemming from this than the obviously biased article states, they (the so called militia) have no reason for such a dramatic reaction.
2. Again, unless there is more at play than the article states, there is no reason to call them a "right wing" militia. What makes them right wing? Because they hate the government? That could make them extremist right wingers or it could just as easily make them nutcases. Lol Just saying, the bias is painfully obvious.

When will we grow up and realize we can disagree without hating each other and slinging insults? Children are more dignified than most American adults these days. They say games and cartoons rot the kids brains. I'm more inclined to believe social media, news, and politics rot the adults brains.

Just compare the Tea parties, whose arrests can be counted on at most 10 fingers, who were almost treated like Nazis, and the "Black Lives Matter" movement, who are treated are worthy of attention despite being completely unable to control their most extreme elements

Honestly I feel like these men are domestic terrorists. What they are doing is basically an act of war. Just imagine how people would react if these men that took over this visitor center were Arab, or really anything other than white.

The other thing that really bothers me about this is how they are using false pretenses as a reason for the occupation. Like somehow they are protesting for the rights of the specific rancher, and not just trying to lead a group of people who wish to try to overthrow the government.

I just wish people would stop giving them attention, and hope that they slink away.

Jordanv78: the comparison is quite a stretch. Had they been foreigner would have been another matter. These men are occupying a federal building from a department whose name does not even figure in the Constitution. If anything they are merely affirming their own rights.

The pretense might be a little bit of a stretch, yes, but the Bureau of Land Management's actions to sue people for "arsoning" their own pastures is the characteristic of a fascist government. The BLM should not even exist; have we not learned from the tragedy of the commons yet?

However they do not wish to overthrown government. They are conservatives and therefore government worshippers (as can be seen with their flying of the flag)

They've said that they want no conflict. It's a peaceful protest. They brought guns to protect themselves. I'm not condoning their actions by any means. They're dumbasses for sure, but calling them domestic terrorists simply isn't true. If you want domestic terrorism, just look at Black Lives Matters and the "peaceful protests" that took place in the latter half of 2014

Just another group of jerks,like the Black Lives Matter people and the Occupy movements before them. They are free to say what they want but they have to realize that they put themselves in a corner and just hurt themselves publicly and privately. All they are really doing is blocking people's right to go about their business. Maybe we need a return of the fire hoses.

Yeah. Some bastards burned down some federal owned forests and admitted to that and went willingly to jail. Some out of state gun nuts occupied their home village, even though the said arsonists wanted nothing to do with them, for their own agenda. The federal building was were ranger Smith tried to figure if Yogi Bear was up to stealing more pick nick baskets.


Are we talking about this case? Anyone sane?
