Davideo7 : Both the MC Server and the Chat have seen increased activity since the latest server transfer. Chat has had an average of 5 people, based on a 2 hour average, since the last reset (exact numbers here: https://i.gyazo.com/653d0be1e39bc8a0b8b6473043f9a49d.png), while the MC server has had both admins and other users online quite frequently. Since you added the server to planetminecraft, we've already had quite a few new users join, and I haven't seen the server without at least one person online since then.

Vanelan : You could always apply to MC Admin when the application opens up again if you'd ever be interested.

I'm really glad you decided to continue with at least one more competition. As I mentioned in my last post, I do think activity will jump with our new advertisements, and we should get a lot of new participants.

Davideo7 : Since I just recently became a global, I think I will focus on that for now. ^^;

mrfe : Not without going into the database. There might be an on-time command you could execute on the server though. It's something you could look into.

Davideo7 : This is just a note for competitions in general but I feel like if you make the Viz prize a lot bigger compared to the cash prize people might actually choose that in stead at times. Because of inflation Viz keeps decreasing value to most people so say 200k Viz wouldn't be worth 100 dollars nowadays due to how easy Viz to earn now, since the general exchange rate on the market forum nowadays is a 5k Viz = 1 dollar minimum to actually have any interest in an offer. While I think you need more stuff to spend Viz on to actually make it more valuable in the long run maybe increasing the Viz prize amount to reflect that could help.

Edit in response to previous posts: Consequently that's a reason I'm against automatic Viz and CP rewards for being on the server I feel it would be a bad idea since that would make it even less valuable due to how it would be much easier to get (unless you made the rate very slow) and therefore it wouldn't be as desirable.

I don't think Minecraft competitions should go away. I think it is a big plus to have in this site. I would say to keep the cash prices but, make them smaller depending on the length and difficulty of each competition.
I am not fully aware of how your current competitions are carried out but, I have seeing some fun competitions were all users are playing at the same time and it is recorded and streamed life- some nice gameplay music would be nice too and maybe have your voice as "referee"

Again, I am not aware of how the server could handle this and if this would be too complicated but, I liked the ideas behind these competitions and thought to share.

Zlinqx : Right now the Viz price is doubled the cash prize. I realize the value of Viz is going down for users who have been around for a long time and have lots of Viz but offering too big of a Viz price would contribute to the deterioration even more. I've got a few planned features which will greatly increase the value of Viz and one of those features could potentially launch within the next month or so.

jlove92 : I've thought about doing a live Minecraft competition but setting up and hosting something like that would be very time consuming and I'm not so sure it'd be worth my time, especially considering that they may not get a ton of participation. I host quite a few competitions like that for non-Minecraft things throughout the year and it's always a struggle to get users to participate. Before those tournaments start, everyone is all excited and everyone "promises" they'll compete but then as soon as it starts, less than half of those who signed up compete and half of those who compete don't even compete the entire time.

Davideo7 : Yeah I didn't mean that as a long term fix more as something to entice people until there is more stuff to spend Viz on. You definitely got me curious about the features you have planned though.

Also, likely if we want more players, we may need to go beyond advertising this server on here, it should be featured on various minecraft server finder sites. Also, if we want to bring interest to others, we may need to include some extra game mechanics and go beyond standard vanilla.

Considering the minecraft building competitions, maybe it should not be just building competitions, probably with extra content, we can make even more competitions. One idea I got is players go through a challenging dungeon and conquer it and whoever holds it's capture the longest receives a prize, 2nd and 3rd should as well.

Also for a prize idea, maybe besides viz, maybe prizes of valuable content in the server can be gained, like unbreakable equipment, made via command block.
