As of now, no, and probably not even in the near future. I have heard from the higher-ups that it would cost a lot more money to add these types of games. Not only that, but some computers can't handle those types of games. (Although my computer can play DS games with the right settings on Desmume...) There are multiple other reasons as well, but you should ask the staff for more detailed information. But who knows, we may see these games eventually become compatible with the plugin in about 5 years, maybe sooner. All we can do is wait and see.

It's also called the Retro Game Room for a reason. Playstation 2 isn't really retro. Maybe it is to some members because they grew up on that or something but it's not retro gaming. I cringed when playstation was added because it's not retro either but what can you do

geeogree :

Didn't the PS1 come out in America in 1995? That's 20 years. Seems retro enough for me :p

I doubt we will see any console from the 21st century around here for several years. All the available consoles, save the GBA, were released before 1999, and in my opinion the Retro Game Room should stay like this.

There's also the extremely big size of those games, which make them hard to play for some computers. We already have enough trouble with PSX and Dreamcast, to name just two, the more modern systems would only bring in more trouble. Not to talk about emulator compatibility, which is a ton more complicated, and also all of the legal issues with those systems.

LunarDarkness2 : you only think so because it is older than you are. I was a teenager when the PS1 came out. Different generation, different definition of what is retro.

Also, see what EX Palen said. The newer the systems the more likelihood of legal problems. And really, except for the handhelds there isn't enough computing power + bandwidth to play any of the newer consoles on here anyway. Maybe in 5 years things will change and it won't be an issue but I wouldn't expect any newer consoles.

There really isn't even a decent DS emulator out for PC right now. Besides, the touch aspect doesn't work so great with a mouse.
As for PS2, I have a powerful computer and there are games that don't run well on pcsx2.... not to mention most games are 1gb+.

So yea... not gonna happen soon if not just for the bandwidth requirements of the newer systems.

SkitzFrenik : This is being discussed, but DOS configuration is a bit iffy. Its definitely possible, but it wouldn't have the configurability (is that a word?) as the other systems have.
