So, here it is, folks : I am about to start a Pokémon Red Nuzlocke playthrough on steam and I already wonder what to play next after I complete (or utterly fail) my nuzlocke challenge.

For those unfamiliar with the expression "Nuzlocke" : It is a playthrough of a Pokémon game where you force yourself to release your pokémons when they faint. Other rules apply to limit the number of pokémons you can catch. There are other features too, but I am not here to discuss those.

So, I already got a few ideas for future games to play, like :
-Fire Emblem games (just to cry my life out for dead characters)
-Final Fantasy games
-Earthbound (never played more than 5 minutes, so I got no clue on what to do to complete the game)
-Etc.

In fact, any game that I do not know of would be good. I would force myself to not looking over the Internet for easy answers on how to complete the game.

Ideally, suggestions would be available games through the RGR, but feel free to suggest anything out this scope. We never know where this might lead.

Thank you guys!

NorweAstafar : It's very awesome that you decided to start a Nuzlocke. Pokémon Red is seen as one of the easier games to Nuzlocke but I never tried it out. Have you ever tried a Nuzlocke before? If the answer is yes, did you beat it? Good luck by the way! ~

I only played Earthbound before but all the games you listed are great RPGs (I saw some positive comments about them). Earhtbound is a simple but very entertaining RPG game and I am sure you'll like it.

TornadoMudkip : Thank you very much for your kind words! I tried once with fire red. I did not lose, though I abandoned on the way. The fact of streaming myself through this will force me to get through one of those.

I was reviewing my choice for Pokémon Red though. I just found out a game (that looks awesome!) on the Internet called Pokémon Revolution Online. I'll give it a try with Nuzlocke components. That way, since I never played the game, I might be up to quite a few surprises!

NorweAstafar : Sometimes it's hard to stay motivated during a Nuzlocke because of the training. If you lose some important and powerful Pokémon then it means you have to train up new Pokémon. You have even more luck if the Pokémon you choose as replacements are in low levels. This is also why I like Pokémon Black (2) and White (2) a lot for a Nuzlocke/Wedlocke challenge because the training doesn't take too long (thanks Audino). Completing a Nuzlocke is worth it if you ask me. Some Pokémon you dislike can become your best allies.

I am pretty sure you can play Pokémon Revolution on Vizzed too. Someone else on Vizzed once beat a Pokémon hack (Nuzlocke style) he didn't know about. It was very intense according to him.

Pokemon Red for a nuzlocke? I mean, go for it but with all the exploits in pokemon Red it can be pretty easy and I'd say a Firered nuzlocke would be better. If you want a more brutal one, maybe G/S/C? The level curve in that game is busted and you'll be grinding back to level for a good long while when one of your pokemon die.

Fire Emblem? Start off with either Fire Emblem (the seventh game), Sacred Stones, or, if you have a 3DS, Awakening. Do you plan on doing an Ironman (no resets) or a run with resets? I assume Ironman, but good luck with that.

Final Fantasy? Ehhh.... I'm not too sure. I hear V and VI are the better ones to play. You could combine Fire Emblem with Final Fantasy and play Final Fantasy Tactics instead.

Earthbound? I'd plug my review, but I'd rather not. Try starting Earthbound with this guide from Starmen.net, cuz Earthbound is kinda filled with stuff you'll miss and regret.

fusionaceblus : I hesitated thinking about G/S/C. Thinking back how hard is the last fight in the Kanto Region, it just makes me think how epic such a Nuzlocke might be! As for Fire Emblem, I've already finished the seventh game and tried Sacred Stones. If I ever do an Ironman (what I would plan to do, effectively), I'd try it out on one of the translations on Vizzed.

Thank you both for your inputs! It is pretty valuable to me!

NorweAstafar : oooh so you want a challenge? The hardest (which is debatable, of course) Fire Emblem game on Vizzed is probably Thracia 776, but that's a sequel to Genealogy of the Holy War (which is also hard). If not, you can play Binding Blade which has a lot of mechanics and graphics from 7. So if you want to get straight to the hard stuff, do Genealogy of the Holy War to Thracia 776, if not do Binding Blade first then do Genealogy of the Holy War (then Thracia 776).

fusionaceblus : Having completed a Pokemon Gold nuzlocke, I honestly think it wasn't that bad. I managed to catch a Geodude in Dark Cave, so the first part of the game was easy for me. It died on me against Whitney's Miltank (grrr), but after that, my Pokemon were strong enough to avoid many casualties from there on out.

For all I know G/S/C actually might be one of the harder games to nuzlocke, but it is the only game I'm familiar with nuzlocking so far, and the rest could just be even easier, lol

I'll be starting out with Pokémon Red today (2 pm).

If I ever get to finish it and succeed, I might make a series of Nuzlocke generation games. We'll see how it will go.
