Not to be overly politically correct but there are more than 2 genders or even gender identities. And I don't really fit either of the two offered so I just went with male. I'm not trying to cause drama but there are trans and intersex individuals...even young trans people. Either of these last two groups might not be comfortable with the options given but also not want to leave it as N/A

Being an Admin at Vizzed it might be expected that I can change this kind of stuff, but alas I cannot. Really though what I want to say is that there are only 2 genders, if the gender is indecisive, the username color is grey.

If we were to be more scientifically correct or something there is only two but that makes some people mad if I say that to them.. But to go with what triune said if you PM david and give a good enough reason he might change it to the gray color which is N/A even though that isn't what you wanted but that is the best you can ge for a non male or female color. So in short terms stick with the make or female or get lucky and get gray and deal with indecisive one if you can get it.

Until very recently (the turn of the century?) sex and gender were pretty much the same thing. But now for some reason gender has becoming a very hot topic - Facebook allows like 50 of them? If it's not just a fad, it will take a long time before it gets standardized everywhere

There are around 51 gender identities.

Now, the creators of the acmlm board designed the two sexes to be color coded with pink for female and blue for male (or green if you're an adult male. And purple for adult female, again with exceptions such as rank.)

Changing this would be pretty difficult. And frankly, why would you go through so much effort for something so pointless as political correction?

If the he/she/it crowd wants to boast about how they sexually identify as a watermelon, they can do so in numerous places. it doesn't have to be set in stone (or in PHP in this case) for it to be official. They could just state it in their bio or something.

I know that sounds insensitive, but knowing a thing or two about web design I'd say it's more trouble than it's worth.

Not to mention, can you imagine how troublesome it would be for the owner to constantly have to change the site gender for someone who is genderfluid?
Incorperating the option for users to change their gender on-site would also be difficult, and could cause trouble when people use it for something it isn't designed for.

Sorry for the inconvenience though. Maybe you'll find somewhere to state your actual gender identity somewhere in your bio or Custom Title, or possibly your posting signature.

Plus gender was originally synonymous of sex and I'm pretty sure it still is considered to be.

Yushee said the key sentence: it's more trouble than it's worth. Imagine all the sites that are acmlm boards having to suddenly introduce nearly 50 more gender options. It would be absolutely massive, and consume a ton of effort.

Plus, Vizzed "only" has half a million users, so if you're bringing up an issue that affects a (nowadays) low percentage of the population, the chances for all options being used by at least half a dozen people are nearly non-existent. A site as massive as Facebook, for example, does have this chance, but then again, in Facebook you're identifying yourself, and in here it's just a codename you want to be known by.

Again as yushee said, all you can do about it is put that info in your bio, custom title or post signature. Vizzed isn't that widely used as to implement such a big change. Also, giving users the chance to change genders at will, no matter how limited that is, can be more troublesome than helpful.

This site is not out to cater to the whims of gender identity issues.

If you want to be a member of the site pick whichever option most closely resembles your correct gender and then clarify is that is something you feel the need to do.

However, I'm with yoshi - this site is not about political correctness. If you want a site that will cater to your gender identity issues then go find one specifically for that. This is a gaming website. We are about gaming discussion and gaming and not gender issues.

Being trans means you are born in the wrong body but identify with the other gender, therefore you should feel comfortable picking the one you identify with. You can always put in your bio section you're trans, but I don't see why that really matters. I don't get the huge thing about telling people you are trans. My brother is trans. He has a lot of online friends, and he only tells them when they ask why my parents call him a girl name (he's female to male, fyi). He goes by male, identifies as a male, and has no problems picking the male gender slot on games or sites because that's what he is--a male. Because that's what trans people are--either male or female.

As for genderfluidity, I don't know enough to speak on that. I'm not entirely sure.

I feel like this topic is just grasping for something to complain about honestly.

I have to get two cents in on this thread after the day I had at work about a similar issue. What difference does it make, your a username on a computer screen. And also maybe you should just pick the gender that your anatomy would classify you as  that's the whole reason we have universally only two genders your either male or female based on  your anatomy or reproductive organs.

That you Celestial Knight. What is so wrong with being the gender you were born with? Maybe I am old or intolerant,but you are either male or female. Yes,I know transgenders are out there and they were born unusual. I am not saying it to be mean or anything. But even then,you still have to pick one to identify with.

Does anyone here realize they are flaming a member here? It's one thing to say your opinion, but when someone says "do not be offended" it's normally followed by something offensive. But hey, for a gaming site only, as some of you state this is, then we better get rid of that christian section, and all other forum sections concerning anything but gaming then. The answer was simply, "we don't have a 3rd gender section, sorry". It was NOT a time for you people to say your piece on how you feel toward transgendered. manicman66 : if you feel anyone has flamed then use the proper report functions to bring that to the attention of the staff members. They will review the incident and determine if punishment is needed.

Also, if someone bought a rented forum (which the Christian fourm is a part of) and wanted to make a forum relating to any LBGTQ issues then that would probably be allowed and it could be discussed there.

Just because people said this is a gaming site doesn't mean other things can't be discussed. However, to expect a random gaming site to be catering gender options to fit for the people coming here is a bit over the top. The 2 issues of having a Christian section and not making more than 2 gender options are not the same thing.

writingwolves : Actually, technically it is the belief that you were put in the wrong body. It can't be proven that it is actually like that, and relies on how the individual feels rather than what is true.

But anyways technicalities are technical.

You are actually all incorrect...there IS an Intersex gender that is biologically neither male or female https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersex THAT is what I was pointing out, not about agender and crap. I specifically mentioned I wasn't talking about transgendered individuals or people who for some messed up reason get their genitals chopped off voluntarily and neuter themselves. There really is a third gender.

And as a genderfluid person i see no need for the fifty genders Facebook has. But there is a thrid gender, if rare, that is what I was pointing out.

I see that pretty much as the only "transgender" I accept. . . but then again I think some people who qualify as a Hermaphrodite would like to be categorized as far away as possible from the rest of the transgenders, just cause trans people and the like are going something they feel in their mind to where as a hermaphrodite actually has conflicting gear.

There are more pressing matters to attend to, and whether they are neither or both sexes, it's up to the individual to figure out which of the two they would choose to identify as, since identity doesn't matter on the internet.

The question was why the third gender wasn't listed, and that's the most likely situation from my point of view.

And technically if they were neither male or female, going by the gender system in vizzed, they would qualify as N/A since their gender isn't applicable in this instance, since there isn't any other options that fit. You could consider it the "other, please specify" option. Surely "other, please specify" would be good enough, right?

This site was made long before anybody made up the problem of gender identity politics. You picked male or female, and that was it. Gender doesn't make your personality. It's what you are. Not who you are. I don't think I will ever understand the processing and mindsets behind those who make issues like this the center of their lives.

Then how do I change mine to N/A? There isn't an option to change your gender. I wasn't aware NA was an option so I just picked one. Then found it WAS an option and now can't change it.
