It's 1982. The movie "E.T." was very popular. It'd be a great idea to make a video game out of it right?
This game...well, let's just say it sucked. It, along with Pac-Man for the Atari, almost caused video games to die out completely(before SMB came out and fixed it). If you want your own copy, go to Alamogordo, NM, and dig up one. Yes, they had so many unsold copies the buried them.

Just letting you know, reviews are supposed to be at least 100 words long. I hope that in the future, you'll at least make reviews that length.

Local Mods : Should this be moved to game discussions?

SchnozzPlays : I agree with what you said about E.T. the game being a mess but as has been said a review needs to be at least 100 words to qualify as such, if you want to write more reviews but have trouble reaching that length just try to go a bit more indepth, what makes the game bad? Talk about about the individual aspects of the game, such as the graphics, soundtrack, gameplay etc. (I know E.T in particular isn't that much to write about since it's an atari2600 game but try to go a little bit indepth).

Since this is too short to qualify I'll move it to the game discussion forum in stead.

Sorry, didn't know there had to be more than 100 words. I'll do that on my next review.

PS, how do you put that stuff under your comments? I can't find a way to do it on my profile page.

If you're asking about the images in our posts, they're called layouts and you can make them or buy them (with Viz) from others who have layout shops. You can find layout shops in the Vizzed Market forum.

As for your post: I hear people say that all the time, but I've never heard any proof as to why E.T. caused the game crash. The best I've heard so far is "It stinks". Now I can appreciate a person's opinion, so I'm not trying to attack yours at all, I'm just curious whether or not I'm missing something.

Honestly, I don't think E.T. is half as bad as most do. As Atari 2600 games go, I'd give it a four or so, but most give it a 1 at best. Like I've said before, I played games from around this game's era, and there were many that either wouldn't play at all, or wouldn't play past the first level. After getting my hands on a few of those I began to appreciate any game that was playable at all. lol Maybe that's part of the reason I'm more lenient on the games people hate from back in the day.

And the crash had a lot of factors such as the fact that people didn't know there would be generations. They assumed that this is what games would always be and they got bored. Another is the fact that so many games were actually broken. And yet more reasons would be that many games were broken, there was no established gaming culture so it was more of a fad than anything, and there was a bubble where everyone wanted to buy games and game companies failed to see through that bubble and began producing insane amounts of games (such as making more copies of E.T. than there were Ataris to play them on) and so companies took a massive financial hit. And finally, it's been pointed out that the video game crash was mostly a North America thing. The markets in Japan and other countries weren't affected, or at least not as much if they were. It wasn't nearly the gaming apocalypse that we've always thought.

But hey, reviewing is all about sharing your own personal opinion, so just do that. It doesn't matter who agrees or disagrees after all. And this reply is just my opinion. I'm not saying I must be right and you must be wrong, I'm just saying that this is how I see it personally. I do hope to see you review more in the future.

Oh okay. Yeah, that's embedded in my layout, and as far as I know the layout manager is the only way to add them. Honestly though you'd get a better answer from people who know more about this stuff than you would from me. lol I just bought this one, so... xD

Eirinn : I kind of disagree on E.T. being the cause of the video game crash, at least not the only cause. Pacman for the Atari is where it all began. That's when people just got sick of all the half-baked stuff the publishers were feeding them, which already resulted in dropping sales. I think when E.T. was released, it simple was the last drop. It apparently WAS a bad game, otherwise I don't think it would've been the point where everything went down the crapper, but it all started with Pacman on the Atari. Yet everyone seems to solely blame E.T. for it.
