By Survivor, I mean the hit CBS show.

Season 31 started a few weeks ago, and episode 3 is tomorrow night. If you have yet to give it a chance, tune in tomorrow at 8 PM (local time) and give it a look.

If enough people use this thread, we can use this to leave discussion and power rankings behind.

With this post, I'll leave behind my power rankings for Episode 3 (if you watch the show, and want to do your own power rankings, keep in mind you get points based on who gets voted out. If the person you put in 13th goes out, you get 13 points. If the person you put 2nd goes out, you get 2 points).

So my rankings below!

Spoiler:

1. Kelley Wentworth - Yet again, she's #1. She did exactly what she had to do to stay untouchable, both now, and going into next week's chaotic switch. No matter who she ends up with, she should be 100% fine. The biggest issue she could run into is being on a tribe with Savage/Joe/Tasha, or something similar, an alliance that is about challenge strength. Even then, if she gets there with a Kimmi or Monica, she won't be the primary target. Add to the fact that she hasn't made a single mistake socially or strategically, and even if she's stuck with mostly Ta Keo people, she's fine.

2. Tasha Fox - This is just a gut feeling. The scary thing with a swap episode is everything can change in the blink of an eye. I'm not confident in any singular player surviving beyond this point. It's going to be really really tricky to predict an order in which I don't screw myself early, missing out on prime points. Tasha is up this high by merit of being the most physical woman. I think the tribes are going to mostly value three things. Challenge strength, loyalty, and the ability to be beaten at the end of the game. Tasha is extremely physical, and has shown no signs of being forwardly disloyal. She might run into trickiness convincing anyone she'd lose to them at the end, but I think she'll survive the initial swap.

3. Ciera Eastin - Much for the same reasons as Tasha. We haven't seen a lot of Bayon, which makes ranking their players even tougher than ranking the Ta Keo members. She sat out the previous challenge, which I think is actually a shrewd move. I think they would have been better off sitting Monica, but she was able to keep eyes off her yet again. She's helpful around camp, and hasn't yet raised any alarms or started any fires. This list is going to be topped by lots of players who have yet to start fires.

4. Monica Padilla - This is a risky pick, because if she lands on a tribe that values challenge strength, she's in trouble from the outset. She's been mostly invisible, which means there's not a lot to say about her, other than she is indeed playing Survivor. I still can't actually recall anything she's done this season.

5. Keith Nale - As far as males go, I think he's the safest. He's not overtly physical, he's not a threat socially, and he's fun to be around. I can't really see a combination that involves him being the next person voted out, unless he singlehandedly costs his team the challenge. And if he's in that position, they have bigger problems than Keith to begin with, with playcalling like that. We've seen little of him as well.

6. Peih-Gee Law - I'm getting shades of Sandra up in here. The patented "anyone but me, as long as I stay in the majority" strategy is real, and while I don't think Peih-Gee wins, I do think she advances past the next boot, just because she's going to get one lucky alliance in the numbers right away, no matter where she lands. She can and will work with anybody.

7. Joe Anglim - Might be tough to imagine his stock going up, but with Shirin out of the game, it's less weight around his neck, he's more free to play his kind of game, and with how he's presenting himself to his tribe, anyone from the original Bayon has no reason to get rid of Joe right now. Also, I don't see Joe's tribe losing any challenge. He's too good.

8. Woo Hwang - Little Woo gained a backbone this week. Not only did he turn down Shirin and Spencer, he turned them down with conviction. This was something missing from his Cagayan game. In Cagayan, he was Tony's lapdog. In Cambodia, he's been a little clueless, and lost, but he's sticking loyal to only one man early on, himself. It is an attitude like that that will give him a chance to advance... so long as he keeps an open mind about everything. With a tribal swap, he could be in trouble... but he could be an asset early.

9. Jeremy Collins - I still think he's going to get blindsided in this game, but I don't think it's going to be next week, heading into a tribal swap. He's lucky more people in the Bayon tribe sympathize with Savage than Fishbach, because the same idol comment that was met with laughter a few days ago was met with disdain in this case. Jeremy has the Alpha Alliance covering his back. He's safe unless he gets swapped to a tribe with a big bloc to begin with.

10. Kimmi Kappenberg - I think she could go next if her next tribe values tribe strength, but at the same time, I don't think anyone sees her as a threat, so they may keep her around as a number. The only reason she's falling is challenge strength. She has done nothing to imply she would be voted out for any other reason.

11. Kelly Wiglesworth - This tribe swap might be bad news for Wigs. She finally has gotten into an established voting bloc with Terry/Varner/Abi, seemingly, only to have it ripped away next week. No matter what happens, she might be in trouble. If Varner/Terry/Abi all switch away she's alone, and it's even worse if she ends up with Spencer/Kelley in some way. She might have to grovel or play dumb or throw Varner/Terry/Abi under the bus in order to cement her position with any remaining members of Ta Keo in her new tribe. And if she ends up with primarily Bayon players... who knows?

12. Kass McQuillen - I think she's actually in a lot of danger. Everyone below this spot is, because they all have a glaring reason they would be voted out. With Kass, it's just her past. With what little we've seen... she's actually being more humanistic this time around, and I think that helps her chances big time. She's good at puzzles, and that might be enough reason to keep her around as long as she stays in check.

13. Terry Deitz - He made a STRONG social play to pull in Abi Maria, even if only for one vote. The swap could be his best friend or worst enemy. He's shown clearly what side he's on, and that's not a good place to be for an old school player.

14. Andrew Savage - His situation is a little perilous too. He's more or less emerged as the leader of Bayon, and if he's in a tribe of primarily Ta Keo members, he's not going to garner sympathy as easily as he would from his alpha alliance. What worries me about Savage is that he almost might be too human. If he gets deep into the game, he could garner the sympathy card. He's already got Jeremy's love it seems, and that's dangerous to other players. Plus, the thought of a swap means Fishbach, his mortal nemesis might end up in the numbers by blind luck. Would be kind of ironic to be ousted that way.

15. Stephen Fishbach - Consider this as me hedging my bets. I think Fishbach is going to be in danger every week, and nothing he does to get into power is going to change that. He's already got Savage wanting him gone very badly, and the people on Ta Keo have established themselves to mostly abhor the same types of things that Fishbach is doing. The best thing that can happen to Fishbach is to get on a tribe with Spencer, as he's as on the outs as Fishbach.

16. Spencer Bledsoe - Speaking of which, holy s***, am I amazed he survived. I figured he was a goner. Varner has been on Spencer's case from before the game started, and they've always been about getting rid of threats. With Spencer on the ropes, this was the perfect chance to knock him out. You might not get another chance, especially with this swap coming out of nowhere now. If he can get swapped to literally anywhere away from Varner/Terry, I think he's got a good chance of advancing. Also, need to take this moment to marvel at him crying.

17. Jeff Varner - And just like Shirin was targeted for being the driving force in episode 1, I think Varner will find that it isn't always good to be the hammer knocking the nail down. Varner needs a very specific tribe breakdown to emerge unscathed, and it involves him getting away from Spencer, away from Kelley Wentworth, and away from the conflict being around them it would bring. This is a case where separation is best for both involved. If it happens, they can both focus their efforts on fixing flaws in their game. Spencer's are on the table, but Varner still seems to look like he's overplaying, and if that gets out to whoever he lands with, he's in huge trouble.

18. Abi-Maria Gomes - I cannot see one compelling reason to keep her, now that it is clear a swap is happening. She's a mercenary and is just going to side with whoever is nice to her. She's annoying as hell, a challenge liability, and liable to flip at any given tribal council. No matter who she ends up with, she's in trouble if she's not with Terry and/or Varner. They seem to be the only people who can truly tolerate her. With challenge strength about to become very important, she's the obvious boot.

I've been doing power rankings since the start of the season on another site. It's a forum, so I can't link here, but yes, I did type this out, these are my thoughts.

I can't wait for episode 3... (TRIBAL SWAP)

No, I do not. In fact "reality" shows have never been my cup of tea. They are far from reality; everything looks staged. I could not bear to watch more than 5 minutes of Jersey Shore.

The only such show I do watch is the Amazing Race. Yes, there are lame interactions between participants, but at least it requires a lot of wit to complete and not just opportunism as seems to be the case in Survivor

I don't watch it anymore, but I used to be a huge fan of it along with the Amazing Race and I uses to watch both all the time for years, but I don't seem to pay too much attention anymore to those channels.

If I can record some episodes, ill definitely watch this season when I get a chance.

I used to watch it basically religiously. There were a lot of great season, my personal favorite was actually the first season though - because the one dude basically figured out the entire system before anyone else. He used it like a king, and ultimately won because of it. Season 15 I think had the island boy who was an amazing swimmer, so that whole season was extremely entertaining! I don't think he won though, because of his backstabbing "friends" that he made a pact with. He would have easily taken the whole thing otherwise.

Ever since I cut the chord for cable though, I haven't really been following it. I think Hulu Plus has the new episodes on it, so I may have to check that out again at some point. The show is definitely a fun time though. I personally like guessing who's going to win early on - the only time I guessed right was season 1.

I had been watching it every season, but this season just doesn't appeal to me. A lot of the returning people are people I couldn't stand, so watching this season would be a waste of time to me. I might end up not watching it again period.

I honestly can't believe that the show is on the air to tell you the truth. For the most part, I really don't see the appeal to most of these so called "Reality" shows, since hardly anything about them resembles "reality"

But to each their own.

Jordanv78 :

Well, I think most people know that reality is at least semi-staged at most points. Most reality TV shows I avoid like the plague, but I really like this show.

It's not the same old song and dance, I really like the competitive nature and the survival aspect. I think that a lot of people like that too, it's a nice example of how to actually make a reality show fun to watch and not just people yelling at each other on the boardwalk or something.

Skilledtree : I understand that it's a competition, but there is still the staged drama type stuff. I have watched it a couple of times way back when it first was a new show, never really appealed to me. I understand that it has a following, which is how it's stayed on the air for like 15 years or whatever it's been.

I used to love watching that show. My least favorite character was Russell. I loved how people backstabbed each other constantly in this show. It really exaggerates the way mankind is today.
