Have you ever had problems with delays after you buy something? Something small, or maybe something big like what happened with GTA V for PC?

Last week I was looking for some Gravity Falls stuff so I can bring it to the panel at Comic Con on October 11th. I found this cool book online at Barnes and Nobel and it said it would be out around September 29th and would arrive around October 4th, so I ordered it.

Yet, not even a week passes and I go on again so I can check the approximate delivery date again and now I see that it's not being released until NEXT YEAR, which makes it completely useless now.

Has this happened to you before?

Actually yes somewhat but it wasnt a pre-order, i bought a Pac-man Collection GBA game from ebay because it was an old childhood game of mine and it took 1 month after the original delivery date to get to me

I never had a problem with pre ordering since i dont pre order much; i was happy i got halo reach a week early pre ordering online :3

This has only happened to me when I pre ordered Naruto Narutimate Accel 2 from Japan. In the US the game is known as Naruto Ultimate Ninja 5. The game arrived about 2 months after the game was released. I don't remember what the problem was since this happened in 2007. I played the game for a while and completed the story even though it was in Japanese. Than sold it to a fellow Naruto fan who was willing to pay $200 for it. That was a happy day for me haha.

See, this is why I don't understand pre-ordering. Like, why are game companies even allowed to do it anymore? The entire point of pre ordering something is so that if stock runs low, you get it. Yet, have you ever seen GameStop or Walmart actually sell out of any game? I haven't since like Call of Duty 4.

It's just crazy to me that these companies can take your money, then they can delay games for as long as they want while keeping your money, then once the game is released there is no guarantee it'll work - and more importantly - there's no refunds.

I know that the United Kingdom is passing a law that will force companies to deliver refunds on video games that aren't as advertised (Where was that when Destiny came out...), so hopefully other countries adopt this policy too. Then, maybe, we might actually see a point where the pre order antics like this, and everything else, will actually pay off.
