I have a semi immediate dilemma is there a difference between new and used 3ds games? I know nothing about 3ds chips so no idea if it's a good idea or not unlike ps3 games used usually means scratched to ell good luck getting it to work! Are used 3ds games similar? incase it matters its paper Mario for the 3ds new its 52$ plus 10$ order fee used it's 34$ plus probably 10$ for the fee as well so could someone help me out?

As far as I know, there are no real differences between new and used 3DS games.  Unlike disc based games (like a PS3 game), 3DS cartridges are much more durable, so the chance of a broken 3DS cartridge is far less likely.  So you shouldn't really be risking anything by going for a used game over a new game.

Seimika : Like Kazeno said, there really is no difference between a used and brand new 3DS cartridge. The only thing I can think of is that you may need to erase an old save file on a used 3DS game. But that whole process takes about 5 seconds.

For the most part, they should be fine, but there could be some issue somewhere. I'd recommend only buying used games from a reputable store, that way you don't waste your time having to go back to return it. Although I have bought 3 Gundam games that were a little scratched up, for $5 for all three games, from a local Christian Bookstore. They all work fine though... XD

The only difference you might find is that the used game will have someone else's save file probably, like when I bought Bravely Default used. Of the 8 3DS games I have, maybe just 2 of them are new because I have no need to get the game new unless it just came out recently. Heck, I bought a used 3DS game from some random person here on vizzed and it's amazing.

You can feel safe buying a used 3DS cartridge. I only ever buy used 3DS games (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time being the exception) and never had a single problem. I don't think you'll hear anyone say anything negative about buying used for the 3DS
