So we all know how bad this game is, Heck even I know how bad Superman 64 is and yet I'm still giving my 2 cents worth of thought on it. And believe me this wont be as easy as I had originally thought. I guess the best place is to start off with the controls. What controls? This game is the hardest game I have ever tried to control.  The physics are just atrocious. The gaming mechanics are just no existent. There is no story, depth, sound, or any redeeming qualities at all. But more on those in a little bit. I guess if there was at least one redeeming positive quality about this game is that the box art at least looks like Superman. To bad the in-game version of him does not. Well now its on to why I rated the game with the ratings I gave it.

   Difficulty 10: Normally when I rate a game with a difficulty of 10 it's usually because I love how much of a challenge the game has. Superman 64 has a difficult rating of 10 not because of how challenging the game is but by how hard it is to control the character. I've played some games in my life where the characters were a little hard to control. But nothing like this. The controls almost break the game in my opinion.

   Depth 1: As I said in my introduction to the review this game has no depth. Non whatsoever. Super Mario 64, which was a launch title for the console looks FAR better then this abomination.  Heck even games for the 64 that came out in the same year look FAR better then this. If ever there was a game that made you want to take a red-hot poker to your eyes then this is the game that will do that for you.

   Story 1: What story? Seriously there is no story at all. All you do is fly through rings the whole time you play. They should have titled the game Superman 64: Flight Ring Simulator '99. At least then it MIGHT have somewhat of a story.

   Addictiveness 1: Addicting? Heck no its not. I never wanted to stop playing a game so fast in my life. If I could I would have loved to have given it a far lower rating then a 1. Believe me I would love nothing more then to give a score lower then a 1. But the rating system only goes down to one for this category. So a 1 it is. Shame too. It is so deserving of something lower then a 1. Oh well guess its just wishful thinking on my part then.

   Sound 1: Just like with my last category sound to is at a 1. As in what sound? The noise that's there is so deg rating on my ear that it almost made then bleed. Just like before I wish to have rated it way lower then a 1. But again its just wishful thinking.

   Graphics 1: What Graphics? Wishful thinking on my part again. But I wish I could rate this lower then a 1. I mean there are early 64 games that loo FAR better then Superman 64. I mean they aren't game breaking graphics or anything. But its just so hard to look at that I could not wait to turn off the game.
  
   Overall 0.1: Overall this game is totally deserving of its overall rating of 0.1. This game should be avoided like the plague. I cannot think of a game that is far worse then this one. I have no idea what the game makers were thinking when they made this game or if they were thinking at all. I am led to believe that no thought at all was put into the game period.

   Final Thoughts: My final thoughts on this game are as follows> Avoid this game like the plague. DO NOT! I repeat DO NOT play this game under any circumstances for any reason whatsoever. This game should not have been made let alone ever been a concept of being made into a game. As I have been saying through out this entire review just avoid it at all costs. Even if your the type of person that gets some enjoyment out of playing bad games just to see how bad other people have said they are, don't do it for this one. Even if your missing this game for your complete Nintendo 64 collection and happen to see it in a bargain bin at some retro gaming store don't buy it at all.

I actually liked the game. lol I really never saw where the complaints came from. As for the gameplay, there's actually a lot more to do than fly through rings, that's just the opening level and a few in between level scenes. Really it should have been left out as it was easily the worst part of the game. However you could play on Easy and the rings wouldn't be there anymore, unfortunately the final level was blocked on easy. Now THAT was something that was really rant worthy. That was a terrible idea.

To each their own though. This review was too heavy on the rant I felt, but if your honest opinion of it is literally this bad (poke my eyes out with a red hot poker?), then I can't really say it was a bad thing. Hey, I ranted about one game in a review, and it was featured, so who am I to say rants are altogether bad?

I agree, this game sucks so much I would rather play sonic 06 for the rest of my life, There is no fun in Superman, I bet that the prototype name was: Run Through Rings THE GAME!

Damn, just like ET for The Atari, I want to play this game just to attest whether it lives up to its negative hype!

Anyway, you did show how bad The game was... but I found your review to be more of a rant than a "reasoned" article showing exactly why The game is bad. You say that The controls are difficult; do you mean you press right and it goes left? Is The response time too slow? Are The graphics glitchy? Your point about The lack of story was good though.
