With the NFL season about to start a few days from now, I figured it was time to make this thread! Feel free to share your thoughts about the season below.
With the season about to get underway, I predict that my favorite team, the Chicago Bears are going to have 7 wins. With the new coaching staff basically having to rebuild the whole defense, and all the injuries around already I figure that's all I can expect. What are some of your predictions for your favorite teams? With the season about to get underway, I predict that my favorite team, the Chicago Bears are going to have 7 wins. My prediction for this season is as long as no key players get injured like last year when nearly their entire passing attack was out during the Colts game, the Bengals will finish the season 12-4 and will finally win a freaking playoff game! Who Dey! |

A.J. Green has got a 4 year, 60 million dollar contract! It's about time the Bengals got him a new deal! So excited! The biggest contract concern is finally over, now they have to worry about all the other starters who's contracts end after this year... But for now, the A.J. Green deal is a good reason to celebrate! WHO DEY! |

Yeah, this year is certainly the year of the WR contracts for the top talent in the league. The Bengals were smart in locking him up. I figure now their biggest issue is probably figuring out if their QB can take them to the "next level" and getting a solid guy opposite of Green as well as a guy that can be dependable underneath in short middle of the field situations.

I predict my favorite team the Packers, go 12-4, make it to the Super Bowl, and lose to the Colts by about 10 points. |

I already gave up on the season after seeing what the giants have been doing so far in just two games. I probably wont be paying attention to any teams this year ad just a couple of players instead. |

Good news: The Bengals are 2-0, defense is playing well, and Andy Dalton's not throwing INT's. Bad news: Jeremy Hill had 2 fumbles yesterday and got rightfully benched. What a shame. Bad news: Jeremy Hill had 2 fumbles yesterday and got rightfully benched. What a shame. |

Injuries are starting to mount up on the Packers. Although they are a good team, I'm sort of doubting they will win 12 games.
The first two weeks have been crazy so far. I know a lot of people in survival pools were mad yesterday when Tampa, Jacksonville the Skins and Raiders all won and eliminated some crazy total number of contestants. Some of what I have to say after observing the first 3 weeks of the season. 1. Patriots still in top form. 2. Seahawks not so much. 3.. R.I.P. Bears 4.. Cardinals are ripping the souls out of the teams they've played (I know that the Niners, Saints, and Bears have a combined 1-8 record, but the way that the Cards demolished them is quite impressive and kind of unexpected). 5. Overall, this season has been rather wacky so far. Teams like the Ravens and the Lions that are surprisingly 0-3 and teams like the Falcons and the Panthers that are surprisingly 3-0. Heck, even the Raiders have impressed me so far since they have an actual winning record for the first time in years. And how about that AFC South? I have a ton of other thoughts I could probably share, but I'll hold back for now. 1. Patriots still in top form. 2. Seahawks not so much. 3.. R.I.P. Bears 4.. I'm very happy with how week 3 went. My Bengals are 3-0, they pretty much ended the Ravens season, and they've managed to stay healthy. I'm just hoping that Andy keeps up his impressive start. Speaking of Andy, so far of all the starting QB's, Andy is currently 2nd in QB rating with 121.0, he's only behind Aaron Rodgers, who has a QB rating of 135.4 |

This season has been indeed strange. Then again, the first several weeks of the NFL season always seem to be that way.
I guess the biggest surprises so far for me are as follows. 1. The Colts look bad and the additions they made in the offseason really haven't done anything to change the fact that their O-Line is HORRIBLE and their defense is bad. One surprise here so far is that Andre Johnson has looked like he should consider retirement. He's lost a step and can't even out muscle guys for the ball with his sized like he used to. Their main problem is that they can't really run the ball and that lets teams prepare for the pass and really shut down the Colts offense. Their coach might be the next one axed. 2. The Broncos are somehow 4-0. Manning hasn't looked good, but their defense really has kept them in games so he could do his thing in the end. Then again, with 2 of the teams that they've beaten being the Vikes and the Lions, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. They have a pretty soft schedule, but I still think they are going to have a hard time keeping Manning healthy all season long. 3. How are the Eagles this bad? I mean really. They are in one of the worst divisions in football and still barely treading water with teams like the Cowboys whom have had their whole offense injured. Panthers have had a soft schedule as well but I guess I'm still kinda surprised they are 4-0 since Cam Newton has very limited options in the passing game. I knew my Bears were in rebuild mode. Still though I like the progress they are making as a staff even though the on-field production isn't there. Was glad they pulled out the win vs a Raiders team that people were talking up. Still though I expect them to have one of the worst records in the league depending on Cutlers health moving forward. I guess the biggest surprises so far for me are as follows. 1. Things have been going really well for the Bengals so far. They're 4-0, Andy Dalton's thrown 9 TD and only 1 INT, the running game was great against the chiefs, and the defensive lines been punishing QB's. If they can keep this up, the sky's the limit for them. Andy's just gotta make sure he keeps those INT's down the rest of the way like he's been. |

The one thing to me that stands out regarding the Bengals and Andy Daltons improved play this year, is the play of the offensive line. The Bengals line is playing like one of the best in the league through 4 weeks. This is giving him the time and the confidence to hang in the pocket until a receiver is open and step up to make his throws.
It also helps that he has some other weapons around him that are developing aside from just AJ green. If Dalton can keep playing at this high level the Bengals have a great shot to make some noise in the AFC playoffs. Still a lot of season to go though, so they just need to keep doing what they are doing and stay healthy. I do wish my Colts were playing better. Their 3-3 record is horrible. They really had a great shot at beating New England on Sunday night. Too bad they forgot how to play in the 2nd half. To be honest with you, that crazy play that they called...that should have NEVER been called is what cost the Colts the game. They had a great chance to win up until the point where they called the WORST play I think I've ever seen in my whole life and handed the Pats great field position and a quick TD.
not sure what Whalen was thinking or why the coaching staff even called that play to begin with. Was horrible decision making. The way this season is looking, Pagano is going to be fired by the end of the season. They might back into a playoff spot due to the bad division but I don't see them doing much more than that. not sure what Whalen was thinking or why the coaching staff even called that play to begin with. The Cincinnati Bengals are now 6-0 for the first time since 1988! Now they have a bye week, and then, a huge AFC North matchup at Pittsburgh. If they can win that game, I think they'll definitely win the division for sure. |

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting much out of my Bears this season with the new coaching staff. We knew the rebuild was coming...still though I'm irritated with how conservative the Bears coaches were when they were on Offense at the end of the 4th quarter and all the way through OT. It's like they were more worried about not messing up than winning the dang game. They had already scored 30+ points up to that part of the game, why not open up the offense a little bit?
Overall I like what the new staff has done to change the train wreck from last year, but that is the one complaint I would have so far. Overall I like what the new staff has done to change the train wreck from last year, but that is the one complaint I would have so far. |

gamerforlifeforever2 : If the Bengals win against the Steelers and go 7-0, that'll put them three games ahead of second. Unless Dalton starts getting inconsistent again (and I am honestly impressed with how good he's looked through all six games), it looks like they have the AFC North wrapped around their finger. There's no question they'd make it to the Playoffs, in my humble opinion, if they get that win against Pittsburgh. I wonder, though, what are your thoughts of the other undefeated teams? We all knew Carolina was going to be in some sort of contention, especially with that defense they've been showing through recent years. But I'm actually a little surprised that they've remained undefeated. And speaking of surprises, how have the Broncos not lost yet? I have all the respect in the world for Peyton Manning, but this year seems to be proving that maybe he's finally finished his time in the NFL. The fact that the offense has barely produced a single touchdown this entire season so far is reason enough for me to believe this. He has not been playing very well, plain and simple, and if there were any doubts, I think the Browns have answered a majority of them. Once again, I mean no insult to, very obviously, one of the great quarterbacks of this time. But maybe it's about that time to stop playing (unless you're Favre and you try to keep playing until you're 60-something, lol). The Patriots had been looking absolutely dominant, but after an expectation of a blowout turned into a close game (that was then botched by one of the dumbest miscues I've ever seen, including botched college trick plays), will the overall opinion change? And what about the Packers? I, sadly, have not been watching them play, so I'm not too sure with how they fare. ...And then, amidst all this madness, I sit there, staring down the Dolphins team I've rooted for since I started watching football, and shake my head disapprovingly. The only reason for hope is that Philbin's no longer there, and even the interim coach is actually being assertive for once. I wonder, though, what are your thoughts of the other undefeated teams? Carolina has had a solid defense for a few years now. The issue has always been that they haven't had a whole lot of offense to go along with it. Certainly not a balanced offense. With the way that Cam Newton runs the ball he's had a hard time staying healthy over the long haul of a season.
This year though he's putting his name in the basket for MVP consideration with how he's led this team with basically Greg Olsen and a bunch of scrubs on offense to an undefeated record through 6 weeks. Pretty impressive. It's a long season though, so let's temper our enthusiasm a little bit and see what happens. Well hopefully the Colts will play better against the Saints and win. It is annoying how they were predicted to go to the Super Bowl, but have kind of laid an egg so far this season.
