Welcome to September 2015's edition of the VSM. This month we'll be covering the usual -system sales, upcoming games, and PS+ games of the month- plus some potentially exciting news from the PlayStation team themselves. So let's get on into the article and see what's up with PlayStation this month.

Console War Coverage*

And we start off with sales information on all new and last gen consoles, plus PlayStation's handheld system, the Vita. Let's see what the sales figures indicate this month.

June 7th - 13th

PS4 - 154,134 (+6%)
XBox One - 80,405 ( +17%)
Wii U - 51,524 (-12%)

PS3 - 19,464 (+5%)
XBox 360 - 10,909 (+2%)
Wii - 949 (-14%)

PS Vita - 35,066 (+1%)

PlayStation 4 leads the new gen consoles by roughly 73,000 sales, while Wii U trails behind the second place XBox by 29,000.

PS3 leads last gen consoles this week with around 8,500 more sales than the 360, while the 360 leads the Wii by just under 10,000.

And then there's the PlayStation Vita with the tiniest of sales increases, at 35,066 units sold this week. Yes, it's an unprofitable system that nobody wants...that's why they made over seven million dollars on it this week alone...[/rant]

June 14th - 20th

PS4 - 163,616 (+6%)
XBox One - 82,984 (+3%)
Wii U - 49,439 (-4%)

PS3 - 19,284 (-1%)
XBox 360 - 10,996 (
+1%
)
Wii - 837 (-12%)

PS Vita - 36,289 (
+3%
)

PS4 is still ahead of the gen console pack this week extended to over 80,000, and the XBox One leads the Wii U by 33,000.

Meanwhile we see the PS3 leading in last gen console sales with just over 8,000 more sales than the 360 which in turn leads the Wii by just over 10,000.

And the Vita climbs another three percent with over 36,000 units sold.

*totals do not include used system sales

Software Sales*

June 7th - 13th
PS4 - 1,451,977 (+63%)
XBox One - 925,958 (+131%)
Wii U - 417,946 (-11%)

PS3 - 734,665 (-2%)
XBox 360 - 597,941 (+1%)
Wii - 222,050 (-10%)

PS Vita - 187,148 (+16%)

PS4 game sales spike up by over sixty percent, moving nearly 1.5 million games, while the XBox One increases in software sales by an astounding 131 percent, and the Wii U moves eleven percent fewer games, barely breaking 410,000.

PS3 drops two percent but still leads the way with a healthy 734,000+, while the 360 increases by one percent with nearly 600,000, and the Wii still moving over 220,000 despite a 10% drop.

Finally the PS Vita: with a small jump of sixteen percent, the Vita moves just under 190,000 titles this week, meaning for each Vita sold this week, roughly 5-6 games were sold as well. Not too shabby since statistics show system owners only buy an average of five to ten games for the entire duration of the system's life cycle.

June 14th - 20th
PS4 - 959,131 (-34%)
XBox One - 515,845 (-44%)
Wii U - 356,190 (-15%)

PS3 - 667,579 (-9%)
XBox 360 - 536,642 (-10%)
Wii - 199,042 (-10%)

PS Vita - 135,523 (-28%)

PlayStation 4 drops thirty four percent

PlayStation News: PS4 Update 3.00 Details Revealed, Plus Your Chance To Win A Trip To PlayStation Experience

Yes, already. Sony has revealed part of the new update's features, which I will list in short form below, as well as tossing in a link to the announcement for good measure, where you can read the whole thing.

So far we know that if all goes according to plan, the new update will include:

•Online storage capacity increase from 1GB to 10GB for Plus Members.

•YouTube live. You will now be able to stream to YouTube Live directly from your PS4, much like you can with Twitch right now. Maybe in future updates we'll even see HitBox added, among others, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Still this is a good addition to the system, and one that I've been hoping for myself.

•Events. A hub that displays information on current events in games that you play the most.

•Communities — "PS4 users will have the ability to create communities based around shared interests, like games, genres, and more." (quoted directly from PlayStation Blog)

•Sharing video clips to Twitter. You can now upload video clips to Twitter. The limit is ten seconds.

•And more

For a full rundown of all publicly known features that are planned for Update 3.00, click the link below. It contains a few things I omitted for brevity, as well as more detailed explanations of things I did cover.
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/09/01/ps4-system-software-3-00-features-detailed-beta-starts-today/

How you can win a trip to PlayStation Experience
From now through the fifteenth, you'll be able to win a trip to PlayStation Experience which will take place on December fifth and sixth by "purchasing" the game Foul Play for your choice of $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, $75, or $100. Part of the proceeds will go to fund the USO, Make-A-Wish, and The V Foundation. Each dollar counts as one entry into the competition, so the more you pay, the better your chance of winning, plus the more you will help these charities. The game itself currently retails for $9.99, so even if you just want the game, now is the time to grab a copy of it.

Can't Think Of A New Way To Say "The End"

That'll do it for this month's edition of the VSM, which was actually on time again finally. I would like to thank each of my readers, well wishers, and Nose Bread givers. This would be pointless without you...well maybe not without the nose bread, but whatever.

Be sure to drop in next time for more PlayStation coverage, including:

You make the PS4 Look good and the Wii U look bad.

I hate it, but I almost want a PS4 now. Dang it Sony! Nintendo used to have all the good games! Now you're making more family friendly ones, and the Wii U has just above 100 titles- ridiculous! They don't even have a Metriod or Zelda game out yet!

Sword legion : Yeah, and I don't think the Wii U will ever get a Zelda game aside from Wind Waker HD. The next Zelda game is supposed to be open world...and the only open world game I have requires 49GB of space, while the largest Wii U system has only 32 if I recall. I know not all open world games have to be that large, but I don't see how they could fit one on the Wii U (especially since they should keep it under 8GB for owners of earlier models), and even if they did you'd likely have to uninstall all games in order to play it...then uninstall when you were done and repeat the process each time. This is all assuming the Wii U requires installs of physical games though.
I'm calling "Zelda U" to be "Zelda NX" and an "NX" launch title personally. :/

As for family friendly games, Sony has actually said that they're trying to get a lot of family friendly titles on the PS4. Basically they want it to be a machine that will support every kind of gamer, and so far it's looking that way. I have only four PS4 games (and one is actually for my nephew), and of them I have a hardcore "Mature" game (Arkham Knight: AMAZING game, but does have some points with some swearing, as well as Poison Ivy who is always dressed in a little less than I prefer, and this game is no exception. In this case the problem is a...bikini bottom(?) or something. Thankfully she's only in a handful of scenes), and three E rated games. I can literally go from High octane Tank combat to playing Lego games without ever switching systems. Not to mention all of the E and T rated games that I'm so excited for.

If you do get a PS4, be sure to give me your PSN username.

I've seen this thread previously

Well, the community thingy sure is expanding quickly. I thought it was an idea of Polyphony Digital when they installed that option in Gran Turismo 6, but seemingly it was just the peak of the iceberg.

Youtube streaming sounds good, as long as you have a camera connected. I don't know if I will have that option, plus I wanted to only upload to Youtube the times I play against my friends (I'm not proud of my abilities as a single player lol).

Clips of ten seconds? Not much time to do big things. Since it's Twitter, I'm expecting people to use these clips as jokes, recording funny moments or quotes for the network's sake. I'll be surprised if someone has a different use for those clips, sincerely.

And well, the events aren't that important. They should be well advertised within the game, like GT Academy in Gran Turismo 6, so I don't see the need of a secondary notification. I admit seeing events for a game you ditched out some time ago can help you revive it, but that's as much as it can go.

25 days until one of my most expected games comes out. You already know which one I talk about, because it isn't covered here due to not being released in North America. After it, just one more coming out in November that you will surely cover.

Any rumours about when Tekken 7 will see the light? At least they could confirm what the fanbase is expecting: releasing it the day where Tekken becomes 20 years old.
I've seen this thread previously

Eirinn :

Well, it's tempting. Aside from the virtual console, I'm finding no use for the Wii U as a system. I about flipped out when I found out that Star Fox Wii U may not have online multiplayer.

Man. . . I may consider it this winter. . . . I just. . .

Ugh. I want to beleive in Nintendo. The Wii U was so much more promising than the Wii too. I HATE the Wii really almost. . . but the Wii U really wants to make so much better games. . . it has! It's just. . . the three good ones are all Mario, and the other franchises aren't getting anything!!

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

EX Palen : I'm a little late, but you'll find a ton of Saint Seiya Soldiers Souls screenshots at the following site: http://www.siliconera.com/2015/06/28/shiny-new-saint-seiya-soldiers-soul-screenshots/

As for Tekken 7, all I can find out is that is that it was said the game would be released "in a few months" from July 17th. So it looks like the wait is almost over, hopefully. Also I'm not sure if you've heard yet or not, but it looks like new gen only. They're talking PS4, XBox One, and possibly PC.

The communities and YouTube Live were the biggest deals I thought. The YouTube Live was a big deal because not all streamers are willing to use Twitch. And it would be great to actually see even more streaming options in future updates. Streaming is a very big deal, and the more Sony expands this feature, the more of the market they'll reach.

As for communities, that will make it SUPER easy to find not only gamer friends, but gamer friends who enjoy the same games you do. That will be great.

The other features? Meh. But I'm still hoping folders is one of the unmentioned features. I think that's the one thing that all of the PS4 owners would love. I doubt it'll happen yet though, because right now they seem to be mostly focused on the multiplayer/social aspects of things.

Sword legion : Yeah, I felt the same. Wii was just awful, but Wii U -once I got past the initial disliking of the gamepad- seemed like it had a lot of potential. It's just a shame Nintendo limited it so much. It could have been great.

And hey, who says you can't have more than one? If Nintendo's next system looks good, I'll have no problem with getting one myself eventually. But what's nice about PS4 is that it has something for every style of gaming, and no shortage of upcoming titles for certain.

Tekken 7 in a few months from July 17th? Hell, no. They even missed the E3, so they clearly are trailing behind. I don't see the game appearing before 2016, honestly, unless they are hiding the release date from literally everybody. New characters have been leaked here and there, so if the release date doesn't, that means they don't know it. And I don't mind it being new gen, because by the time it comes out, I'll already have my PS4.

Thanks for the screenshots, I really needed to confirm the new anime was present there. Man, the wait until I get my PS4 is going to feel eternal.
