I was always told Elder Scrolls is awesome and its very popular; well i got the Elder Scrolls Anthology Collection for dirt cheap and ive played very little of it. Idk if it bored me a bit or its just i have so many games i need to beat i just dont have time to sink in an rpg as huge and time consuming as the games in the ES series

Well I've never even played one, so if you get mobbed for not playing it much, we'll go down fighting together.

Which one did you try in the collection?

I got elder scrolls online from someone for free, because her son was moving out of the house and didn't want it. But I haven't played it. And don't plan to. That mess takes up a scary portion of my hard drive, so I'll especially pass.

What? No one here's even played them!? That is a little weird. They are pretty popular, but they are not for everyone. They tend to have epic stories going on, but the epicness gets bogged down when you have, like, 500+ sidequests available. I personally am a fan of the series. I've played a little bit of Morrowind, but the gameplay was so boring, and I spent, like, 10 minutes trying to hit a crab with a knife, and not even knowing if I was doing damage or not. So, even though most people tend to think Morrowind is the best, I can't even play it.

Oblivion, however, I absolutely love. And I've sunk hundreds of hours into Skyrim. If you wanted, you could just do the main quests, but then the game would be, like, 8 hours maybe. The real appeal of those kind of games, is the non-linear aspect. Basically, do whatever you feel like doing, and accept the consequences.

Also, from the sheer massive amounts of things the game is constantly having to keep track of simultaneously, there are tons of glitches. Usually, saving, then loading will fix most of those, but not always.

There are some pretty hilarious random things that can happen though. I was playing Skyrim, and I accepted some quest to deliver some wine to some lady. As I approached the village, I can see her on my screen. Then, all of a sudden, I hear a Dragon coming, he lands right in front her, lets out a stream of fire, killing her, and the message, "You failed the Quest" Popped up. I was mad at the time, but in retrospect, it was pretty funny. Thank goodness for Quick Saves though. XD

So, again, they are most definitely not for everyone, but for people just love doing quests, and helping/hurting random NPC's, they can be a massive time sink, and full of custom created joy. It's basically, "Play who you want to play, and play how you want to play". That's why many people love the series, including myself.

Oh, I guess to answer the original question, no it's not bad that you've barely played them. It is a massive experience, and if you don't have too much time, it can feel like you aren't getting anything done. After I do a dungeon run, I usually have to sell all my unwanted stuff, check to see if I got any better gear, put unnecessary things into my storage, check to see if I have enough potions, etc... And that can take 20-40 minutes, every time. So, no, you're good.

I don't think its bad at all that you have barely played elder scrolls. As Eirinn said, no one should get mad at you for barely playing it, when there are people that haven't heard of it, let alone played it.

I've heard plenty of good things about elder scrolls games, but I've never actually played one myself. It actually might be something I consider playing in the near future because I'm desperately in need of some new games. I think I would greatly enjoy it because it contains the majority of things I look for in a good game.

Altogether, I really don't think anyone cares if you've played it that much or not.

I don't see why not playing a game from a certain series would be bad, I mean heck, its literally impossible to play every single game series. I'm a perfect example, outside of Pokemon games, I've only played maybe 4 other series in Nintendo and no more than 2 or 3 games in each one.

I have played a little bit of all of them but I am more of a JRPG fan than western rpgs so most of the time I have put into the ES series has been mods for skyrim that added stuff from JRPGs to them. Mostly FF weapons and things. I think ES is a great series for fans of the genre but it isn't bad at all that you haven't played them that much. If you don't enjoy games like that then you simply won't enjoy it even if you did play it. Honestly,  I think Es is overrated. Specifically Skyrim. Sure, it has a lot of content but the places you visit all look the same and the plot goes so many different directions that it can either be totally confusing or you just get lost. I think that may be why I enjoy JRPGs more because they are generally more plot-driven than western rpgs. My favorite in the ES series is either oblivion or morrowind. (4 and 3 respectively)  My advice would be to try them all out a little. Maybe 30 minutes per game. You got them dirt cheap so if you find the time try them out. Maybe you'll want to play them more, maybe not. Sorry for going off-topic a little there.

I'm not sure exactly what this collection contains, but I have played Skyrim quite a bit, and have heard that Oblivion is very good as well. I HIGHLY recommend playing.

i think it's a shame that you haven't played them. I'm a HUGE elder scrolls fan and I have played every Elder Scrolls out there many many times.

However, The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind have to be my absolute favorite game. But Skyrim definitely have the most features and complex code.

I first tried out my friend's copy of Morrowind, but I didn't get very immersed in it. Then I got Skyrim for my Xbox and have been thoroughly enjoying it. There's a very large degree of openness and customization, two gaming aspects I really like. If you haven't given that one a shot already, I highly recommend you do, as it is on the anthology. Never compel yourself to beat every one, or else it's a bit overwhelming.
