Finally. As some of you guys may have seen my thread announcing us getting a cat. Well, we got 2.

I wasn't on all day. We had to drive 200+ miles to Cincinnati, Ohio to meet the people selling the cats.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get pictures...But here are some cats I found on google images that look a lot like the ones we got:

The darker one is 5 months old, we haven't decided on a name yet.
The lighter one is 2 months old, it's name is Marshmallow.

This was the reason of my inactivity these past two days, preparing for the trip and then going on it.

Uhh, I'll keep you guys updated and I'll see if I can sneak any pics. They're very shy.

Marshmallow is a "purring-machine" according to my mom and youngest brother.
The other one is very shy and hides, but took a drink of water when offered it.

We do have a bed for it, food and water bowls, etc.

Ok, any tips, questions, or anything? Thanks for reading

I am seeking advice on anything you guys can give me.

You were probably really happy to get 2 cats instead of one Marshmallow is a good name for the light-colored cat!

My cat is very shy too, he only comes out for people he's lived with (me and the rest of my immediate family).

Since they're kittens, you should make sure that someone can potty-train them so they don't take a dump on your beautiful furniture. XD My family has fostered a kitten in the past and she wasn't potty-trained.

Make sure you have a litter box for them to do their business in, and try to buy them cat food that prevents the kittens from coughing up hairballs. I've had my cat for 3 years I think, and he's about 10 years old

Marshmallow is a cute name.

Let's see... Well some cats have trouble sharing a litter box (though none of mine ever did) so if one of them refuses to, you may want to look into getting a second one instead of assuming it's just bad or dumb.

Next thing that comes to mind: a scratching post. If you can encourage them to use one, it can save you a lot of trouble and damaged furniture. Cats HAVE TO scratch things because they have to shed their claws (the outer layer of their claws shed much like a reptile's skin). They aren't just being butts when they insist on clawing on furniture or whatever they can get their little paws on, they're simply doing what they need to in order to get rid of the dead claw tissue if you will.

Don't put the food too close to the litter box. This is a problem for some cats as they don't like to eat where they...er..."excrete". Think about it: would you want to have dinner in your bathroom? xD

Make sure they're both eating regularly because they may have problems sharing their food bowl (if they do). Also at their age a missed meal can really cause their health to go down quickly, so ensuring they're eating regularly is good.

Maybe consider buying them some toys. In my experience they play more with toys that require your interaction (like the little fishing poles with feathers/fluff balls on the end) than with a simple toy you toss down and leave for them such as a ball.

Say no to milk. Fight the temptation because even though the little buggers LOVE milk, it's not good for them at all.

If you feed them scraps they'll be far more likely to try getting into your food, so I wouldn't suggest it.

And finally I highly recommend Fresh Step crystals or Meme brand litter. It lasts a lot longer than most litter and requires a lot less scooping than regular clumping litter.

That's probably enough suggestions for one post though. Maybe something in there will be helpful. Anyway, congratulations on the new cats!

My dad can build a playground and scratching post for the cats, he does stuff like that (woodworking) as a second-hand job.

We went to PetSmart while we were in Cincinnati to get food, litter, etc. We made a quick easy bed just for the first couple nights, made of a cardboard box and the fuzzy inside of a sweater...

Eirinn : Don't worry, we have the food in a seperate room xD
We got a sample of food from the breeders, and we bought a bag of the same kind.

Marshmallow still needs wet food because her teeth aren't hardened completely yet..

PacmanandMariofan: Read above

GamingN00B : Those cats look SO CUTE!! I don't have many tips however. Eirinn gave some really good advice though. But snuggle them for me ok? Do you have any idea what kind of cats they are? I'm curious.

PetSmart is where my family buys all the food for every one of my pets (bunny food, cat food, and dog food)

It would be so cute to see the kittens playing in a playground Have your kittens enjoyed their temporary bed?

PacmanandMariofan : I'll try to sneak a video. They are scared right now because we let them into a new part of the house...from the looks of it, they slept like logs in the new bed. I think they like it.

A user of this : Like I said above, they're scared haha. I'll be sure to cuddle them for you when they let me x3

Why couldn't you just buy a cat from a local pet shop? Be sure to take good care of them.
