So got a bit of a problem involving a couple games, primarily GBA games like Harvest Moon and fast paced racing games such as the Sega Genesis games OutRun and Road Rash series.

Controls feel very... sluggish... You press a button and it could take multiple presses to get the button to activate. OR it'll get 'stuck' in the pressed activation and just keep turning your vehicle/character in that direction until it finally registers the button had been released (usually within 2 - 5 seconds of letting go. Long enough to notice but not long enough to ruin a game like harvest moon, but enough to get you completely wrecked in a game like Road Rash.

I have used a controller with no problem, but for some reason the keyboard does this. I have tried the basics in the thread such as cleaning the cache, unplugging/replugging the keyboard and updating drivers when applicable.

The other thing is that Genesis recently was completely unplayable and just came back online last night for many of the games i played on a regular basis. GBA also had this problem when 2.3 initially came out but was brought online much faster than Genesis. I doubt this has anything to deal with what is happening here but I'm not leaving out any possibilities at this point.

What are your computer specs?
Have you tried restarting?
What browser are you using?

If you have a working controller, why are you using the keyboard? (Just wondering )

I run an I7-quad core with Nvidia GTX970 prototype graphics card on a Windows 7 Home Premium OS with 16GB ram and 1TB hard drive.. I run twin 23 inch borderless monitors (one HD, the other on VGA; both through the 970 GTX card at 1920 x 1080) and wired USB mouse/keyboard. this computer cost me 2 grand to build. and it runs most current gen games like Eliteangerous and Star Citizen at 300+ FPS on ultra quality. It's an amazing machine. :3

Internet browser wise i use Firefox solely for the use of Vizzed, and nothing else, i use Chrome for everything else.

As for why i choose the keyboard over the controller? I've killed controllers by over using them. This is my fourth set of controllers (one is XB1, the other is XB360) which i use for games like Elite: Dangerous. When i use them for games like this i tend to forget it's an older game and attempt (stupidly) to use ALL the buttons. It just saves me trouble by using the keyboard

After a while i found Mednafan works perfectly fine by the way, but the other choices seem sluggish still; Giving these slow trigger readings as if sticky keys is on. I've tried everything that was suggested including the more ridiculous of going through reinstalling and immediately running with admin without firewall. Same problem persists.

I mean I'm doing fine with mednafan but with games that don't have it, I'm kinda S.O.L y'know?

I personally prefer Mednafen over the other emulators myself, but I can see the issue you might have if a system isn't supported by Mednafen.

That being said, most the the systems DO support Mednafen...the exceptions being Dreamcast (which runs on its own emulator) and some of the systems older than NES.
These systems use MESS, which is built on MAME.
Have you had any issues with MAME/MESS systems? (ie: Atari, Intellivision, Arcade games)

None that i can recall, but i tend not to really touch older than NES systems. N64 i did for a while however with the same issues as the Sega's non-medna versions.

My father is one who plays the older games but he says he hasn't had any major issue except the occasional crash on the old Atari 2600 games.

But anywho thanks for the responses, do keep us vizzed members updated about possible fixes for non medna systems though if possible! Mednafan is nice but still has its quirks like being processor hungry (16gb of ram and still having loading issues due to not enough memory allocation even though it's unlimited. )

thesurviver : That's actually interesting that Mednafen is using a lot of resources...honestly, it shouldn't be....
When I checked my task manager, the window running mednafen on Firefox was using 100mb of ram.
My build is a bit older than yours.
I have an AMD 3600+, Nvidia 660ti SC, 16 gb of ram, running 3 monitors (47" @120hz, and 2 24" @144hz)

I am not sure what you mean by Nvidia GTX Prototype...is that a codename for one of their new graphics cards?
Speaking of which, are your graphics drivers up to date? Nvidia did release new ones not too long ago...

yea, the one I'm using is a prototype build of the 970 (it's one of a few built that were test-builds for the 980's current design.) Basically it's the 'little brother' of the GTX 980. The power of the 970 in the chassis of the 970.

As for memory on my computer it might be just simply the issue that my computer tries to run *everything* at ultra resolution and is causing a leak when it tries to read Vizzed, 'thinking' that it needs more memory than it needs and causing the program itself to overload and become slower... sadly i'm not a tech wizard so it's all speculation at this point :/
