So I discovered that I own a copy of "Back to the Future: The Game", or should I say...."The Gane"?

At the bottom are the words "The Gane" but on the front it clearly says "The Game"
I'm really curious, is this a common thing among this game? I can't find copies in store now to see if they match up.

Edit: So I found another version of this game in the UK from Ebay and requested some more pictures. He showed me some and one yielded something interesting, it also has the same typo in it, saying "The Gane".  This confirms that at least there was one version of UK's cover had this type and there are likely more out there that have this typo. However it does not tell us if every game from the UK had this typo in. If only I could see several huge bulks of this game from several stores, I could confirm it then.

Another thing I can research is if actual copies of the USA versions also had this typo, as a possibility could be that even though the advertisement showed correct spelling, actual prints might not be so.

Darkpower508 : That is definitely something I haven't seen before. I mean, if this is not something that is not common with this game, I would think it would make the value go up just a little bit.

Jordanv78 :
Vanelan :

You guys ever seen that before?

If all the covers were printed like that then it wouldn't be any more valuable, but if the creators of the cover saw that and then stopped to fix it, then the ones that are like that would be rare.

I doubt that's the case though, because if they did stop to fix the error, they would have most likely threw out the mispelled ones since covers are cheap to remake.

zanderlex : Well yeah, that is what I was wondering. Covers are normally mass produced, so if this is something on one case, its bound to be on several others. It could actually be on all of them like you said and no-one has just noticed it yet. However, I can't seem find any typo of the sort related to this game with ye olde internet searchth on Google. This means that either no-one has noticed it, it's not that well known a game, or it is something more unique (at the very least uncommon). I don't expect this to sell for millions, however xD

Yeah, I searched but there doesn't seem T be anything, the only way that you could find out would be to get another copy of the same game and look at that part of the cover, since the regular images dont really show that in them. Who knows, maybe it could be worth a little something if you're lucky.

I couldn't find a whole lot on it actually. It's for the PC, correct? There is someone on youtube who had the same problem, and he was also from the UK, so it might be something that happened to those printed over there.

Light Knight : If so then that would be odd. If I am right, then the USA normally get games before the UK does (or at least did,as I think more and more games are being released world wide now?), so a typo to be found on UK exclusive prints and not on the USA ones would be weird.

Darkpower508 : That would be weird, but does the USA games and the UK games use the same cover? I know some games switch covers to make it more appealing for the country they are produced in.

Uum wow, that's not something you see everyday. In fact, I've never seen anything like that. The "Gane" really? That blows my mind that someone could've missed that. I know there's plenty of old games with misspelled words in them, but not on the title.

zanderlex : As far as I am concerned, they both use the same covers apart from the Deluxe Edition, which featured three people by the car apart instead of just Marty by his lonesome. Furthermore I am convinced that both the Collector's Edition and Deluxe Edition did not release in the UK. However these both have the same correct spelling of "Game" as found in this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTgFO8Ni35Q.

I downloaded the video in the highest quality possible and placed it in a video editing software so I may see the text more clearly, which is shown in the image below. Sadly this could just be computer rendered and the real thing could have the same typo. I have tried a similar technique with when the sides were visible in above video, but the results were so blurred in the highest quality that it would be impossible to say with 100% certainty that it says "game" instead of "Gane", although I think that it does, personally. I have tried to look for casual photos of the gamecase with the unboxing of both edition from the USA but to my frustration, the sides of the case seem under appreciated and are not shown at all in any video.

So if the covers used are the same as the ones printed on the day of release which has no typo, which was released in 2011 in the USA, where as UK version was released in 2012, in which at least my copy and another had this typo. It could be possible then that only the UK version have this typo, but then again, it would be impossible to say with 100% certainty that this is with all UK hard copies unless we can find some to begin with and compare the typo.

Sorry for the large image, it's the only way to show it is spelt "Game" with 100% certainty.

If that's how they normally do look, then it looks like you might have something special here, too bad there aren't any other real copies that you have access to so you could compare them by hand.

Darkpower508 : This might be futile and seem a bit strange, but have you tried looking at the Wikipedia page for the game? Sometimes, they have weird tid bits of information like what you are looking for. I mean, it is at least worth a shot since you haven't been able to find anything yet for what you are looking for.

thing1 : A good idea, can't believe I forgot about this! xD However, Wikipedia seems to have no trivial information at all on this game.

mastergame : Not sure why I haven't tried this before. I have just sent an email asking for further information on this, with photographic proof, and am now awaiting a response.

I'm interested in seeing how this Pans out. Not sure about the box error for a PC game and the value, although it does seem like a legit error. Just not sure if there's a big market for PC game collectors due to the nature of PC games and their licenses.

Not sure if this will help at all. I couldn't find anything relating to a misprint of the game, but I found this: http://backtothefuture.wikia.com/wiki/Back_to_the_Future:_The_Game

Hopefully that will help in some way, at least with a lead or two.
