What is the greatest lie you ever told?

Even if you have never told a lie you may lie to yourself!

The greatest one I ever told was that my failure was someone else's fault.

It was not, it was mine!

I lied!

But then again, I am a liar, I always tell lies.

How do we know you're not lying about being a liar?

Totts : I lied that I was experiencing body problems and ended up needless spending of thousands of dollars. Though maybe it wasn't a lie because to me something feels terrible inside that I could not understand what was wrong and pretty much fooled myself to thinking there was something wrong with me, but when I got the tests back, nothing was wrong o_0.

One time I told this user I was gonna give him 37826 Viz in chat, but I lied and ended up giving him only 37823, I know, I'm a rotten human being.

I think I lie to myself the most concerning my emotions. You know that feeling you get when you like a friend and you can't say anything because you don't want to ruin the friendship and all well it's happened to me and yeah I keep trying to lie to myself saying I don't feel this way but I guess sometimes the heart just says things. I try to keep my emotions to myself not just concerning my feelings for this person but my feelings for everything in my life, it's really complicated but in the end it's only to protect myself from becoming hurt again. I think it's the best option especially right now.

I usually am brutally honest, but there are certain situations I would get extreme anxiety in, and quickly flee from by throwing out a "no" instead of a "yes", stuff like that. I should break that habit, haha. 

Back then when I was a wee child, I lied a LOT. Yeah, shame on the little me.

I'm always honest, and while that isn't always great, I don't really lie.

I don't lie a lot, it's usually to please people like saying 'yeah, I like that drawing' while I actually think 'meh, it's okay I guess' or something like that, so white lies. I also lie sometimes about my homework being finished otherwise my mom gets mad and I can't handle the stress

I pride myself as being a fairly honest person, but if we are being honest with ourselves, we have all told lies at some point in our lives. Doesn't matter if they are BIG lies or small lies. A lie is a lie and they can really pile up on you before you know it.

Just be honest. It's easier that way ;-)

I try to be honest most of the time. But I do occasionally lie, most of the time if the lie doesn't actually hurt anybody I don't have any problems with ocassionally lying

Especially since most of the time I lie it's mostly to make people happy and I just find it easier that way. When I had school earlier this year I also constantly lied to different teachers about having sent homework when they said they hadn't gotten it. You'd be suprised at how many times I got away with saying that.

Of course I've lied because I'm only human But I rarely told any big lies. The worst lie I ever told was that I'm not a liar that I was a Christian when in reality I was an Atheist. That changed later on though. I've also lied a lot of times about someone else starting something, or something being someone else's fault.

Most of the people here will agree that I'm not one to really mince my words.. I try to remain as truthful as I can when it comes to my opinions and how other people can possibly help themselves. I mean I work in a place that offers advice on basically most of the laws and issues in the UK. It's a pretty hectic job and let's just the say the customers expect a lot of you.. Almost like they expect you to have magical powers and to be able to make all their problems go away... 

But even I will admit that I have told lies before. I mean who doesn't?

However when I usually lie it's to try and benefit someone else. Perhaps give them a confidence boost. Maybe making sure that they still to improve. Perhaps taking the blame for someone else that might not be able to cope with the punishment.. Basically when I do lie it's usually to try and help people out, or prevent them from making a fool of themselves. 

I will also admit that I lie when in social situations just so that the conversation can go smoothly.. I don't think people really care that my opinion differs from theirs.. And you know I actually enjoy my friends at the moment.. I'm not really going to start an possible argument as something so mediocre as favourite soccer team and the like...

Honesty is usually the best policy. But lies can also be useful if used in good consciousness and sparingly

Telling my dad that I had my summer reading all done and complete when I had not even started it, and only read half the book. (Surprisingly, I never got in trouble for this since he did put two and two together and figured it out.)

Nope, I have never lied, ever. Ok, that might be a lie.

But anything I always say is the truth though, including and not limited to of me being awesome. Sure, I have made some lies up to get away from stuff, but most of it was telling the truth.

Like one time, I was questioned about me eating some food, and I asked them "Yeah, I was eating some, you want some".

I once said that I was in school so I could get out of Jury duty but that was a lie because I never had jury duty.

Well, when I was in charge of a production line at a snack food factory, lying was pretty much an unwritten role that was part of the job. Nothing too major, but when you deal with all kinds of different people in a pressure situation like in a big factory, a comfortable lie can be the best option as long as no one is hurt. Or lying to your boss is acceptable in some cases I believe. I know I got lied to by people upstream and downstream. A common one would be when you would blame a mistake that you, or someone you worked with made, on an equipment failure. The machine doesn't have any feelings if it gets fired. lol. But I say any higher authority really is fair game if you feel it's necessary to avoid discomfort. Except God of course. That would be pointless. The one lie I told that I always hate myself for telling was a long time ago. I was 18 and one night I was messing around with this girl I worked with at a pizza place after we closed. No clothes came off, but she did mark me with a nice hickey on my neck. The next day when my girlfriend picked me up to take me to work and she saw it I tried to tell her it was a zit. How insulting. I can't imagine how she must have felt. I was so dumb. I eventually fessed up and she didn't dump me but it was never the same of course. She lives 2000 miles away now in Oregon. c'est la vie

When I lied to my ex girlfriend and said that I was fine when I had just did something very bad to myself. It really sucked when she found out what I had done to myself.

One day, I believe I said I wasn't an all-powerful knight who squashed those who prayed on the weak. But that was a lie.
