UTI = urinary tract infection

I just got called in for an interview for a new job, but I was also diagnosed with a UTI about about 4-5 days ago and still have symptoms (fatigue, needing to urinate often, delayed urination).

I'm afraid that going to the bathroom every half hour to an hour may affect the ways in which others will see me at work (e.g. people thinking ''She's always in the bathroom though!'').

I'm also afraid that it may hinder my work performance in that I'd be in the middle of something and then I'd need to go and I cannot hold it in for long because its bad for the UTI.

How can I explain this to my possible future employer? Shall I go back to the doctor and bring a doctors note to show my potential employer? My interview is in a couple of days. Thanks.

No. Don't bring up that you have a UTI during your interview. Wait until a couple of days or whenever they decide to hire you to mention it, that is if your still having major problems by then. I would say just wait until you get the job and then be open and honest about the UTI with your employer. My mom said that your UTI should be gone though soon, I'm assuming your doctors gave you medication so those will be kicking in as well. I wouldn't worry about what your other co -workers think or say about you. It's none of their business and the only one who would even need to know would be your general manager and that's a couple of days after your hired or so. Hope this helps ^^ Also a few tips about an interview just be yourself. Be honest and most of all give a firm handshake :p I hope your hired!

UTI isn't that bad, it should be gone after a few days or a week as long as you take your medicine, keep the bathroom bowl clean and drink lots of water. I repeat, drink lots of water! That will certainly help clean the urinary tract. Also, avoid sweet drinks for now.

I think you're thinking way ahead. Ace that interview first before thinking about the possibility of office life with UTI. Before you even get started with the job (assuming that you'll get hired), I'm sure the UTI would be long gone. Lol, I took my internship interview while having diarrhea... and I got hired and have done pretty well with my first weeks.

If you think it will be a long term problem and really hinder you, have a Dr. note for times like these. That being said, I really don't think it should last too long. Drink lots of cranberry juice and follow the Dr.'s orders, thins should be fine.

"I have a UTI". Your employer will understand, everyone has their own bout with medical problems at some point. I'd go to the doctors first, ask him/her for an estimate on how long it'll take to recover, and get a note from them. That way, all your bases are covered. Doctor's notes are basically free passes, lol.

Saying you have a UTI in a job interview is a sure way to not get the job. This really isn't something you should divulge to them and really, there is no reason to do so. You should be able to have it cleared up before you have to start work.

If you really feel like you won't perform your best, just tell them that you have an important appointment that you forgot you had and try to re-schedule. Keep in mind, if you do this, there's a good possibility that they would select someone else for the job...
If it's a job that you REALLY want, then show up and put your best foot forward.
