This is my first time playing a dream cast game in the RGR and I have no idea of how to set up the keyboard.  When the game loads up I am prompted to a screen where I have to input the correct date, but even after assigning my keys to the virtual controller it wont let me do anything.  Any suggestions?

I had this problem for Chrome and Firefox, and I was able to make it work correctly after I kept the control configure box open, just pushed off to the side so it's out of the way. You still need to make sure the controls are saved before reopening the configure window, and you also have to click on the game window once you moved the configure one, but that may work for you.

patar4097 : Thank you for your help I tried your method, but somehow it would not allow me to stay on the gaming window.  I somehow managed to get the games controller to work without having the controller config window open.  All I did was open the game on full screen, and then the controls became available.

NullDC doesn't officially support using a keyboard as a controller.
patar4097 : That's really interesting that it even works using that method.

patar4097 : are you sure you are talking about Dreamcast? Not Genesis or anything? Because Dreamcast has no keyboard support what-so-ever by conventional means. I tried that for a dreamcast game but it didn't seem to work.

Barathemos : Yup, that's the way I got the keyboard to work for Sonic Adventure 1. It was strange, because it sometimes doesn't even need the configure screen open for me sometimes, but it seems to work every time that way.

Vanelan : Yeah, I really don't know how it works, I just know it worked for me, so I was hoping that maybe somebody else would be able to use that as well.  It took a few times for me to figure that out, so it seems wonky, so I really don't know what's going on with that, but it's worked on multiple browsers, and multiple computers even, so it seemed like something that may work for others as well.

patar4097 : Do you have a controller plugged in too?
I thought NullDC wouldn't even start without one plugged in.

Vanelan : I currently don't have a USB controller (if I did, I wouldn't try playing Sonic Adventure 1 with a keyboard ), so it somehow will work with just the keyboard plugged in. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but usually I have to open the emulator up twice, but then it will work without a controller plugged in. The window will crash, I reload it, and the controls start working.

patar4097 : Ah, okay. I don't think remember if I ever tried to just reload it to get it to work.
I most likely saw it crash then went and found a controller.

Are you using the beta plugin or 2.25?

Vanelan : I'm still using 2.25 right now. Haven't been playing enough in the RGR to download any of the newer beta releases. Unfortunately, that's really all the information I have on it. I really don't know why this works, and wouldn't be able to tell you much more than I have already.
