A lot of people like to get games digitally so they don't break...I'm thinking about getting Xenoverse digitally too here soon but I dunno...I think getting Digital so I don't have to wait a week just to get the game.

I mainly play PC games now and I much rather play a digital game because of the hassle, I font have to bother actually going out and getting the disk, and lets not forget I don't have to take the time between games to get the disk and put it in because all of the games are right there waiting for me so that's why I will always pick digital.

I prefer having physical releases. Although it might take a bit longer to acquire, I'm pretty patient when it comes to this stuff. I have a greater sense of ownership by having the actual disc and they look nice on a shelf. Maybe 15 years down the line, I might not want to open that ancient Steam account to try those games out again. I think physical releases are more resilient to time.

I personally play more digital games... It's easier, they are all in one spot, they can be accessed on other computers. I can share with friends.

But, I do like using discs sometimes as well. But, majority is still digital.

Although I've warmed up to the idea of digital games a lot more now, I still prefer having physical copies of games more. Something about holding the physical item makes it feel much more like I own it, and it looks nice in a collection.

shanezer : I prefer having the physical copy of the game. While downloading some games, it does take time before the installation finishes. If you buy it, you can simply play it. Gameplay is easier.

While I do think it is handy to have a digital version of a game at hand, I also like to have a physical copy. Like patar said, it creates a sense of ownership of that item, more so than just having a digitized version. I also prefer physical copies because they create quite the collection after acquiring several of them.

The majority of the games I have are physical discs or cartridges for my 3ds. The only digital games I have are on my PC, but that's about it. I like the idea of having a digital copy as a back up for a physical game though. Overall, I believe they are both good to have in their own way.

I only have a small handful of digitally downloaded games.  Most everything I have is on a disc.  The only issue for me is that I lose things left and right.  I really should prefer digital downloads, but I haven't given them a chance.

I used to like physical copies of games. Then my copy of Super Smash Bros. Melee got wrecked

Now, I like digital copies. I'll never break a game again

I much prefer getting a physical copy when I buy video games. For one thing, it creates a better sense of ownership of the game, also when you download a game, it takes up tons of memory. If I'm not buying a download only game, I'm always going to get the retail version unless I get the game as a free reward like I did for Animal Crossing: New Leaf earlier this month when I got it from Club Nintendo as a Platinum reward.

"I'm a 21st-century digital boy"

Considering I'm moving so much I need to keep my load light, and digitalization is the best way to carry things around. I go with e-books/PDF as much as I can, and the same thing goes for games. Playing on a computer is much easier, although it can get uncomfortable at times.

I like having games on a disc, unless a digital sale is just too good to not take advantage of.

It depends. If I'm able to move them to multiple computers and play them at once, then I prefer the digital copy. Otherwise I prefer the disc. I'm still annoyed at how the whole family-sharing thing currently works (or rather how it doesn't) on Steam.

Most of the time, I normally buy the games in it's physical form, unless I can't be able to buy it at GameStop (or any other gaming store), and if that's the case, then I have to buy it as digital. But owning the physical copy prove to you that you have owned the copy of that game and you can show your kids and grand-kids (although they will more play super-computer stuff).

I've done both before, and I will do both again in the future, but I believe I will always prefer physical copies over digital for the following reasons:

1. Ownership. As many others have said, physical copies are better when it comes to giving me a sense of ownership. I just don't feel the same about looking at a string of text on a screen saying I own a game as I do about holding a case in my hands.

2. Collection's sake. I love looking at my shelf and seeing stacks of games. Looking at a digital library again fails to evoke that sense of gamer pride over my collection.

3. Disk space. I hate how much memory downloads take up. I may be able to hold thirty games on a hard drive, but I can hold three hundred on my shelf and never have to get rid of any of them in order to free up space or buy a bigger shelf to store more of them. Hard drives on the other hand...

4. Convenience. I know, weird argument, right? I can't help but feel it's more convenient to just be able to swap out discs instead of digging through files to find the one I want. That's probably just me though.

5. I'm a perfectionist (some might accuse me of having a touch of OCD) about everything, and as such I have a certain way that I want everything arranged. Physical copies let me do that better than digital.

6. I'm a bargain hunter, so I can easily go to a game store and find great deals on used games. This is a huge help when my budget is tight. If I ever become rich, sure I'll buy new all the time. Until then I can't afford it.

7. Attachment. For some odd reason, I can't feel any sort of attachment to digital games usually, but when I have the physical copy of it, I really feel like it's my game. I can fall in love with a great game if I have the actual physical copy with me, otherwise it's just something I tinker with for a few days and toss aside. Digital fails to capture me most of the time for whatever reason.

8. Finally, I'm just old school. I've always had physical copies (until the past few years when both became available to me), and I will always want physical copies. That's just who I am though.

If you actually managed to read this whole thing, thank you. lol It seems too many people want to be a part of a discussion forum yet get too impatient to sit there long enough to hear what someone else has to say. And I know I'm longwinded, so I certainly don't make reading replies easier.

I don't see the appeal to most physical copy releases these days. It's not like they have brightly colored manuals and maps with the games anymore. So basically all you are getting is a generic plastic box with a disk and sometimes a 2 page flier in black and white telling you where to go online to get the full manual.

If these games were released they were in older generations, then I might consider actually getting the physical copy. Nowadays it's just easier to get the digital version where applicable.

The nice thing also about most digital purchases...you always own them. You don't have to worry about keeping a disk or it getting scratched. If you lose it, you can just download it again since you already paid for it...what happens if you lose a physical copy or it gets damaged?....you have to purchase the game again.

I prefer digital than disc. All (yes, ALL) the games I bought back in the days when discs were still very popular are now all corrupted. With digital, you won't need to worry about any physical items and there would be less occurrences of save files or the game file itself being corrupted. Lastly, I don't really have enough space to keep physical copies of each game I own...

Honestly, I prefer it physically on a disc or cartridge for a couple of reasons.
First off, I can sell it. If I don't play a game any more it's a heck of a lot easier to sell or lend a game to someone if it's a physical copy.
Second: Memory space. Digital games suck up soo muuch memory it's crazy. Physical gamse play the same, but have less memory. That's a plus for me.

Well I like digital versions more because that way there is no chance that it will break or get scratched and it can stay in one program on my computer. Used to all I bought was physical copies but as the years go by, I like digital copies more and more. Sometimes you have to buy a physical copy. You just have to take really good care of it... which isn't a problem unless you have a bunch of little siblings or family running around ruining it by scratching it and such.
