Gather Strategists, Diplomats, and Warmongers! You strategists can use strategy, you Diplomats can use Diplomacy, and you Warmongers can use .... ? Never mind. There are so many ways to play this awesome Turn-based strategy game! You can just research, or just grow your city, spy on your worst enemies, or you can just go outright, beast mode and have a militaristic nation, you control all of it! This Sid Meyer's Civilization V is one of the best in the franchise, with many awesome things you will soon discover! (Read on!)

Graphics: What makes this game so involving? Is it just the strategy and building a nation? No, it can't be just the gameplay, or anything else! It goes beyond that, the graphics are one of the many things that make this game good, and one of the best is graphics. What makes it so incredible is the animation models. One of the coolest things is the amount of detail put into each building. When you zoom into the landscape you can see the sheer amount of detail they put into each and every little thing! It's just incredible. And if you don't believe me, you must really not like the Real-Time Strategy view, because it's one of the best I've seen in a game!
Although it is really amazing, it didn't blow me away so instead of a 10, it gets a 9/10!

Sound: How does 1:12:07 music time sound? (Hr. min. sec.) That's a lot of music, especially for a game! And, while they didn't have Baba Yetu, they did have a good song choice! It's still in the same style of all the other songs, but I like the orchestral feel better! The kind of feeling and style is just nice. But Civilization goes beyond just the songs... What about the "battle" and voices? Well, they are also superb! And, while they didn't have Leonard Nimroy, it is still superb! (RIP Spock form Star Trek!) The voice they used isn't quite as well known as this icon, but he did a good job. But, who is he? William Morhan Sheppard... Look him up if you will... The languages also sound authentic, giving it the real feel of each and every Civilization you choose! The sounds are just nice overall. And, really I couldn't think of anything to make it better, which pretty much means it gets a HIGH score!
10/10, nice music, great voice acting!

Addictiveness: Is it fun to just destroy the people who annoy you? Well, honestly? YES! What is more fun than Politics? Oh, wait, WAR! Okay... But if you don't want to fight, you don't have to! You can win each round with a unique strategy! That's what makes this game so fun. You have the feeling that you are really in control of every aspect of your civilization. And, power is always fun, and fun equals addictive. The replay value is off the charts too, but I'm getting ahead of myself. That will be discussed in the depth section. The game is just so fun, it's hard to stop playing!
A hard earned 10/10 sounds good here!

Story: N/A There is a "story" but I don't really care for that, so I will edit this review and add it, if I ever play a campaign through, but I don't usually go for the story lines they have in RTS games. But, this isn't your usual one, maybe it is worth checking out... Why don't you see?

Gameplay/ Controls: This is one of the best things of the game, and I know you're saying, "Awesome music, great Graphics, and amazing replay value, How can it get better?" Well, it's easy, when you have a game this spectacular! What makes the gameplay and controls so easy to handle and great? It's easy, a simple layout! You really only need the mouse to play, which leaves you with three different "buttons" to press. Does that not impress you? How do you create something that easy to use? I really don't know which genius was behind the controls, but he is one smart dude! The gameplay is smooth, and really that's the way it should be. My only complaint is that the AI's choices could be faster, but then again, it's turn-based... That means you should set aside all the time you think is needed, which for this game is several sessions... But other than that one thing, the games gameplay is just right!
10/10, why, because they did it right. But really all games should have this score!

Depth: Now we get to the meat of the game. We've checked out the skeleton, the skin, but here's what fills up the body. This is what makes the game worth it. You can play and play, and never have the exact same situation, which means you are always learning how to do something slightly better. But, why can you never have the same situation? How is that even possible? It's really not that hard, it's the "random" code. The map is always new, the placement, and if you absolutely want to do it, you can place your city almost anywhere... It may take a while for you to get back on level with everyone else, but it's your country you can run it any way you want. You can win by diplomacy, or you can just out do everyone by technology! Fight the war, make no friends, remain friends with all... It's your choice! That's what I like about Civilization. The game has a long time to beat one level or world... I played a 4 hour session, and wasn't even close to the end of it! That is just sheer depth. You can found a religion, and do almost anything else that's important to a culture!
Should it get anything less than a 10/10?

Difficulty: This is where it's also just unique. I've never seen any game with as many difficulty settings as Civilization V. You have around 5-8 settings, and you can always fight a different way, meaning that every game has a unique difficulty. If you go beast mode on all neighboring countries then it'll be hard, if you are friendly, it's hard too... It's hard, because you have to remain one step ahead of everyone. How far will you be in 100 years? (Game years, which are about 3+ years per turn...) You have to plan ahead. It's easy to play, but it takes a while to learn all the mechanics. Master your game!
8/10 because it's really hard to rate. Each game is difficuly in it's own way...

Overall: This game is just amazing. And, nothing short of it either. You have so many things that make it better than it's competitors, and I'm not saying that other Turn-based games stink, but this is only one of two turn-based games I like. That's pretty good, if you ask me! It gets it's hard earned 9.5/10 for a good reason!

I love being very diplomatic while growing a military.
The only problem is finding a way to kill off my relations with other countries and start a war when I'm ready to. (Stupid advisers!)

MysteriousPanzer : You don't have to follow the advisor's decisions... They only advise... It's really up to you. And, it's actually not that hard to go to war, just hit "Declare War..."

darthyoda : Really? I always play with 2 friends, and the advisers stop me from doing it. They literally bar me, no buttons except "Listen to Adviser", or something like that.
