I think this is the proper forum for this, as Flight Rising is not just a game, but a community, so 'websites' seems to be the best place to put it. Please move it for me if I'm wrong, mods? Thank you!

Anyway, does anyone here have a lair on Flight Rising? I'm curious to see if there are, mostly because it seems every FR person I know hangs out on tumblr. Would be nice if we ventured a bit further afield. 

If you do, what flight are you in? 

My username is Yunimori there, too, if you want to come say hi or pick up a hatchling. It seems I eternally have some that I am trying to give away or sell. XD

Registration isn't open right now because the servers are small and just the users who are ON kind of stress it out, BUT, we have open registration days sometimes, and if there's interest here I WILL notify everyone who is interested when those come up. I want to see people join and have fun!



That said. Flight Rising is essentially a dragon-breeding game and forum community. There are 11 "flights", which are like all-encompassing clans, and dragons bred in those flights will have the eyes of the flight. For instance, I am in Arcane flight, and all of my babies will have magenta eyes to signify that they were born in Arcane. Earth flight has brown eyes, Shadow flight has dark purple, etc. 



There are 13 dragon breeds to get, and all the breeds can mix and mingle together, though your chances of eggs being one breed over another is determined by the breed's rarity. There's also a CRAPTON of colours and gene-types (markings and such) possible, and the programming takes into account not only the parents' colours, but whatever colours lie between them on the colour wheel to determine the offspring's colouration.  The forums are lively and mostly fun, and pretty much everyone is friendly. I KNOW everyone in Arcane is friendly; I've had a lot of help from other members there.


You can buy, sell, and trade your dragons, there is an internal marketplace, and of course, you can dress them up. There is also a coliseum where you can fight enemies with your dragons for mob drops of food, trinkets, sometimes a 'familiar' (pets) or clothing or even treasure, the site's main in-game currency. It's REALLY a lot of fun, and unlike some other breeding websites, YOUR DRAGONS DON'T DIE IF YOU CAN'T FEED THEM FOR A WHILE! They can't battle in the coliseum or breed if their hunger is too low, but they won't DIE. 


There are also elemental festivals every month, where you can get festival currency  through various site actions and buy special things that are only available during that festival, and these change every year.


It's still a very young site, so yeah, there are some bugs, but it's fun.

Huh. I guess this looks kind of cool.

zanderlex : It is. It sounds pretty simple, but if you like artwork and no-consequence games of chance and/or the randomness of biology (yay punnett squares!), it's neat. 

Um, well now I'm not too sure whether I should like it or be afraid of it.

zanderlex : Pfft, no reason to be afraid! The programming in the game takes care of all biology-related stuff. All YOU really have to 'worry' about is whether or not your dragons are within 5 generations of each other...and what colours you want the potential babies between two dragons to be. 

like...say...you have a male dragon whose hide colour is pink, and a female dragon whose hide colour is...oh, I dunno...mulberry. 
That means your babies will have a RANGE of hide colours between pink and mulberry to choose from, and you have no idea what those colours will be until the little bugs hatch. In this particular instance, that's 15 colours on the colour wheel, and whatever eggs those two dragons have could have hides that are any one of those 15 colours. 

It's not something to fear, just something to anticipate. :3
