Hi, i'm new to the Vizzed board and fairly new to the site in general. I've tried to join snes and genesis netplay sessions, but for some reason it doesn't register me as a player. I tried hosting it, and when someone joined my session it didn't register them as a player in my session neither. I am using windows xp, and someone told me netplay doesn't support Windows XP for snes and genesis, but I haven't been able to find anything on the forums saying that.
I was wondering if anyone could confirm that for me kindly, and if possible maybe have a solution. (that doesn't involve me upgrading windows preferably, hehe )

I'm not sure if newbies can host netplay games.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Secondly, are you up to date with the plugin?
You should be up to 2.12

Yeah, my plugin is updated to 2.12. And noobies can host, it costs 50 Viz a session. I've hosted several games already. The plug-in crash is very odd, I've come across a couple of situations that make it much more puzzling. For example, there are a couple games on turbo grafx 16 that have 1 emulator option, which I tried with the plug-in crashing. But then I play that same game in net play and it runs perfectly fine. It really does seem picky.
I also tried using RGR 2.11 to no avail. Hmmm Hmmm

Yes. Me and pinkeyed and a friend have been net playing a lot, and we'd LOVE to be able to play snes and gens. The gens seems far off, but it seems we r close with snes. Or that it may be possible. I have windows xp, and netplayed snes with someone else, so we've ruled os out we think. ty

I don't recall there specifically being a problem with XP and netplay.

Do the emulators work in single player ok for you?

Has andz or your other friend tried hosting?

Yes and yes. Well kind of yes to single player working. I swear I'm coming across the strangest plug-in crashing issues haha.
SNES games seem to work fine in single player all the way around. Gens works fine in single player from Gens emulator but like most of the time, Mednafen crashes for me. So I can play most gens games on single player, BUT I can't compete for highscores on them, cause it would seem Mednafen is the default emulator for it...

I forgot to mention, that the errors more specifically I suppose for netplay. With Gens, it seems when I join, I don't actually join the netplay game, but a single player game of my own, in the netplay "lobby". It doesn't register me as a player, and I'm not spectating other players game, I see my own from start-up.

As for SNES, it would seem I do in fact join, but then the screen freezes up for me only, I think. I tried playing a 4 player game with 2 others, and they seemed to be able to play fine sync'd together, whereas I was in limbo, lol
Thanks for the help/suggestions! ^.^

You might want to try to delete the mednafen configuration files and see if that resolves the issue.

You can find them by doing this:
Press Window Key + R and typing in:
C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginuser-523165

In that folder, you'll find 3 folders named
Mednafen_new
Mednafen_new-hsmode
Mednafen_new-netplay

Delete the files in those folders and try again.
Mednafen should recreate the files it needs and hopefully it will work.

Hmm my files and plug-in data were located here C:Documents and SettingsAll Users.WINDOWSApplication DataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-523165    which I find strange cause C:ProgramData  exists for me? O.o
Anywho, I deleted all the files within those 3 folders and tried booting up a snes game with mednafen, to no avail.
I had not thought of that though.
