So I don't exactly know if this has been done before in some country or somewhere, but I never heard if it and I personally think its a good idea. What do you think of buying a movie pass that would allow you to stay in the theater for the day? Maybe a day long 2 or 3 movie pass with a discount. Sure, theaters would end up getting less per ticket, but they would end up selling more tickets.

The standard AMC theater in my city had $8 tickets before noon and $14 tickets after noon, so maybe a $30 pass could get you in for the whole day for like 3 movies.

I had thought about this before but didn't think much of until until AMC started selling unlimited tickets for Interstellar, meaning you paid like $30 if you never saw it, and $15 if you saw it already and you can see it as many times as you want until they stop showing it.

What are your thoughts?

You don't *have* to have such a ticket you know. My (sneaky) husband is always able to see at least two movies in a row because there is basically no ticket verification once you get passed admission. So at the end of the movie we payed for, we simply walk into another theater and watch THAT movie. We might sometimes get disappointed - many theaters don't say which movie is played - but hey it's free!

However, depending on the price I would be willing to do it "honestly".

janus : Most theaters don't show what movie is in what theater? That's a bit od really for me because every theater I know of shows what's in each auditorium, some of them even have the doors as giant screens that show the poster for the movie.

zanderlex : At least older theaters in Boise, Idaho. There's a more recent one in Meridian (the Village) that does show what's being aired, even in their ads which facilitates selection. And no, the posters we see in the theater are mostly to advertise upcoming movies.

janus : Theaters here show posters of upcoming movies too, but it would make no sense to show a poster of a movie coming out on the door that goes into one of the auditoriums, people would think that that's the movie thats being shown.

Some of the theaters here are pretty old as well. The one I went on Tuesday to see FUrious 7 is one of the oldest theaters in the country, though it also happens to be the busiest theater in all of America.

zanderlex : I guess that's because individual theaters - except maybe the largest ones - show many movies during the day. They therefore can't put a single poster at the door.

janus : What do you mean? The small ones here do it as well, there's one that only has about 3 auditoriums in it but they still put the poster for that movie at each door, if they didn't do that or put a ticker above each one, they would have no idea where that door goes.

However, the Village theater has electronic signs above the doors to say what movie is on.

janus : 2 things.

1. If it's a screen, then you just need to post a new picture onto the screen. However...
2. I never saw a mvie theater that shows more than 1 movie per day in the same auditorium. Ever. If a theater shows many movies, then they show it in different auditrouims, but but they can't simply show one movie and then show a different movie in the same one because it would take more than an hour to move out the projectors in and out so once a movie ends, the same movie starts again like half an hour later, thats how all theaters are.
