Ever since the Sega Dreamcast was discontinued, the Sonic series has had a very bumpy road. With abysmal titles such as Shadow the Hedgehog and the infamous Sonic 06 tarnishing the blue blur's image, Sega needed to make a game that would prove to longtime fans that a great 3d Sonic game could still be made. In 2010, Sega did that by creating Sonic Colors, which is in my opinion the best game in the series since Sonic Adventure 2! I'll now explain why I feel that way with this review.

Graphics: 10/10 Sonic Colors is one of the best looking games on the wii. The graphics of this game are as good as, if not better than a lot of Xbox 360 and PS3 games, which is incredible knowing that the Wii wasn't even an HD console. Some of the areas where the graphics are at their best are Starlight Carnival; which has lots of colorful lights and tons of spaceships out in the distance. It's one of the most visually stunning areas in the history of the wii. Another awesome looking area is Planet Wisp; which as the name suggests, is the homeworld of the wisps (I'll talk about them later), Asteroid Coaster; which is a giant roller coaster with a bunch of asteroids and some planets such as a miniature Saturn. Sega also did an outstanding job with the character designs! Each character looks fantastic, unlike the most recent games in the series: the Sonic Boom games. It's quite obvious that because of how amazing the graphics are, it deserves a 10 in that category.

Sound: 10/10 I know I've said this before, but the Sonic series has some of the best music in video gaming history. Incredibly, Sonic Colors has one of, if not THE best soundtrack in the entire series! The entire soundtrack will blow the minds of even hardcore fans of the series, which says a lot knowing how incredible the Sonic Adventure titles, the Genesis titles, and even Sonic 06's soundtracks were. I'm not saying that this game's soundtrack is better than all of them, but I am saying it's as good as those other soundtracks. Also this game features, in my opinion, the best voice acting in the series! The voice actors for Sonic,Tails, and Dr. Eggman  are the best that the series has ever had, and honestly I don't think they've ever sounded better. Because of how incredible the soundtrack and voice actors are I'm definitely giving the sound a 10!

Addictiveness: 9/10
Sonic colors has some of the most addicting gameplay in the history of the series. The game introduced wisps: an alien species which can give Sonic special powers for a limited time. The first one is laser; which allows sonic to bounce off walls and quickly reach another point in a level. The next is Drill: which lets Sonic dig his way underground and reach hidden areas that otherwise can't be accessed. The 3rd is rocket: which sends Sonic flying a long distance upward; the 4th is Spike which allows Sonic to stick to walls and with his ability, he can use his signature spin dash; the next power is Hover; which let's sonic fly in any direction, also if he's near a trail of rings, the hover ability will allow Sonic to use the light dash. The next ability is Cube: which allows Sonic to turn blue rings into cubes, and turns cubes into blue rings, and the final power is Frenzy. That's the only power I have a problem with. With Frenzy, Sonic turns into a land shark and lets him eat anything in his path. That does sound like an awesome power, but the controls for Frenzy are atrocious in 3d stages. He keeps going forward and trying to turn Sonic even the slightest bit will cause him to go off course... This gets extremely frustrating and is one of the only major complaints I have about the entire game. Other than that the gameplay is superb, A 3d Sonic game has not been this fun to play since Sonic Adventure 2, and because of that I give the addictiveness a 9.

Story: 9/10 Compared to a lot of modern Sonic titles, Sonic Colors' story is not complicated at all. Basically, Dr. Eggman has built an amusement park in outer space to make up for his "past transgressions", but what he really built it for is to help capture an alien species called wisps. The wisps have a large energy source known as "hyper-go-ons" (I know, they could've come up with a better name than that), Dr. Eggman wants to harness the hyper-go-on energy to take over the world, so Sonic and Tails must save the wisps and stop Eggman's plan. While it's not a complicated plot, it's still a million times better than the complicated plot in Sonic 06. Another thing that makes the story great is the dialogue. This game had plenty of good one liners and great humor, which made me enjoy the plot even more. With a simple yet engaging plot and great dialogue help make Sonic Colors have the best plot the series has had in years. For that reason I give the story a 9.

Depth: 9/10 For a Sonic game, this game has quite a bit of depth. There are 7 stages in the game. The first 6 stages have 7 levels, while the 7th and final stage has 3 levels. Also there's an 8th area that's optional called the sonic Simulator. The Sonic Simulator has 21 levels, and you can also play those stages with a friend in multiplayer. Also there's also 5 red rings to collect in most of the levels of the game as well. All of these factors gives players lots of stuff to do, and will keep them playing for a long time. For these reasons I'm giving the Depth a 9.

Difficulty: 6/10 A lot of the early levels in Sonic Colors are pretty easy, but the further you progress in the game, the harder the levels get. The later stages get really tough and can become a pain. My biggest problem with the difficulty is the extremely easy bosses this game has. None of the bosses should give players a lot of trouble. Even the final boss is pretty easy, which is a shame because it had extremely epic music to go with it. Because of that I'm lowering the difficulty score to a 6. The levels themselves can provide a good challenge, but the boss battles don't unfortunately.

Overall Score: 9.5/10 Sonic Colors for the Wii is the best game in the series since Sonic Adventure 2. It has gorgeous graphics that rival games from HD consoles, an amazing soundtrack, brilliant voice acting that's never been better in the Sonic series, fantastic gameplay, and a large amount of levels that will keep players busy for awhile. A few problems that this game has are that Frenzy is hard to control, and the boss battles are very underwhelming. These minor problems are not enough to make this game unenjoyable. In fact, Sonic Colors is one of the funnest Sonic games I've ever played. I enjoyed this game even more than a lot of the 2d Sonic games out there. Sonic Colors is in my top 5 favorite Sonic games, that's how much I love it. My final score for Sonic Colors is a 9.5/10. I hope you enjoyed this review.

In my last review, I said I would be reviewing Final Fantasy IX next. Unfortunately, I felt the need to do this review first because I had more inspiration to finish it because I couldn't get it off my mind and for that I apologize. I don't know when I'll make the Final Fantasy IX review but I promise that I'll make it at some point.

gamerforlifeforever : In all seriousness, Sonic 2006 was the first bad Sonic game. The reason for this was because Yuji Naka left Sonic Team, and therefore the series had a huge decline in quality. It and the Sonic Boom franchise are the only objectively bad things about Sonic. Stuff like Sonic and the Black Knight are fine for what they are because they don't have gameplay-interfering glitches, but are just adequate at best, and not exactly good for a legendary franchise like Sonic. Also, Shadow the Hedgehog objectively isn't bad, it's just very different. I understand why someone would not like it, but it does play just fine and is actually incredible for what it is. I mean, Yuji Naka was involved in the development, it can't be that bad. But then again, fools who like Bayonetta are stuck-up elitists that have no right to judge anything - not even the morality of Ted Bundy.

As for the review itself, it's missing the Gameplay category, as usual, which detracts many points. And, there's also grammar issues you should spellcheck. Past there, it's fine, I guess. I personally dislike you as a person, and resultingly your reviews are uncomfortable to read since I know whatever is being said here is coming out the mouth of a Bayonetta fan, whom have no right to judge anything because of the edgy shameless crap they love so much.

I should direct you to a thread which showcases my opinions on this game. Here's the link; https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=102290
