The Experience

I had never thought that there would ever be a movie to have such a huge impact on my life, but once I had seen this movie, I began to realize that I was very wrong. At first, I was not really that excited in watching it, but after watching the trailers literally dozens of times, I have finally caved in and decided to see it. If I had ended up not watching it, I would have missed a lot.

About a week before the movie came out was when I decided to watch it, and every day leading up to its release, my interest in the film gradually grew. Just a couple days before it was released, I learned that the music was being composed by my favorite composer and then both my expectations and excitement for the film skyrocketed. I am not really a fan of Christopher Nolan movies, in fact, I had only seen two of his movies and had only seen each one half way through, but this one was different , I had a feeling that I was going to like it.

I did whatever I could to make sure that I had enough money to watch the movie. I didn't just get random tickets for any showtime, I made sure that I got tickets to see it in IMAX and that it was one of the first showtimes on its release day. AMC had a little promotion for its early opening day IMAX showings and I was able to get my hands on a limited edition IMAX movie poster as well a few regular ones. I still have all of the posters which I will most likely treasure forever.

The theater was 100 percent packed and there was a ton of "security" as well. In 2014, I had seen a movie the day it came out at least a dozen times, including big movies like Transformers and a few other blockbusters, but I have never seen anything like this before. There was a massive line of well over 200 people waiting to get into the theater, but the line didnt even start by the theater. The line had actually started about 3 auditoriums past the IMAX one so people who were ont he line couldnt hear people leaving the auditorium talk about the movie because they wanted to ke everything a secret and suspenseful.

The movie had really shocked me, I have never personally saw or head anything like this before and I loved it, I was hooked through every minute of it. Once the final scene had ended, I had quickly registered in my brain that it was the best movie that I have seen in all of 2014, ahead of dozens of movies, but just seconds later, I completely changed my mind and told myself that it as the greatest movie that I have ever seen. The next day, I had gone into a complete frenzy looking up all sorts of movie memorabilia and I borrowed money from everyone that I knew so that I could pre order the book, soundtrack, and even get a shirt. Every day since then, my love for the movie grew until I decided to see it again two weeks later and I loved it even more the second time that I saw it. The movie was exciting, it was dramatic and fun to watch, it was spectacular, and overall, it was just beautiful to watch.

The Music

In my opinion, the music was really the best part of the film, it's what brings out the intensity, and the drama, and the excitement of the movie. The music was just really beautiful and it was all thanks to the legendary man who composed all of it. I am pretty sure that almost every person who has ever talked to me about movies or music would know of how much I love the work of the great Hans Zimmer. I am a huge fan of his, I love his music, he is one of the people I respect the most in the world, and is truly just one of 3 people who I would be most honored to meet one day.

Of course, I have pretty much been listening to his music ever since I was born, but I really first learned his name just a couple of years ago at the end of 2011 and started actively listening to him then when I heard his music in the second Sherlock Holmes movie. I loved that soundtrack a lot so I looked it up to find out who it was by and every year my love for his work grew as I saw more and more movies that had featured his music in them. As I had mentioned earlier, I had no idea that Zimmer was the one doing the music for this movie until about four days before it was released. Once I learned that he was doing the music, I instantly had high hopes for the music and I right away knew that I was going like it, as with many of his other works.

If I could only give one reason as to why I love his music so much, I would have to say that it's because it fits so perfectly with each of the movies that it's in, it just blends in with the action so nicely. Most soundtracks are like this, but with Zimmer, I feel as though it brings out the best of both the action and the effects. The music matches the pace and energy of the movie and it's as if both the movie and music work together to make each other better and better, and that's the main reason as to why I love his music so much.

The standard soundtrack comes with 16 songs, and I have listened to and dissected each of them. Four of the songs in the standard soundtrack, I really like a lot. Two of them are both called stay, though one is stay and one is S.T.A.Y. These are both very deep songs that bring out a lot of sadness if you are listening to it and know what scenes the music comes from. The next song is called Mountains and takes place during the scene where the characters find their first planet. With this song, the tempo gets quicker and quicker and more energetic as the song plays until it becomes loud and drastic. The last song that I really like from the Standard Edition is my favorite of all of the movies songs and is called Coward. Not only is the song itself amazing, but the scene from which it comes also happens to be my favorites, it's one of the scenes with the most action and also has a ton of drama and sadness.

After that, there is also a deluxe edition that features an additional 8 songs that I all know. One of these songs called Imperfect Lock is another one of my favorites and is really good. There's also a ton of other variations of the music and outside of the movie, there's a ton of remixes and such. There's really no words to explain the music because it's just so far beyond beautiful.

The Movie

I can't really talk about the movie much because even though it did come out more than 2 months ago, I do suspect that most people have not actually seen it and I really don't want to spoil anything. If you look at the trailer and then were to watch the movie right after, you would be in shock as to how much was left out of the trailer. Usually, I always hear that too much of the movie is put into the trailer, but that was not the case with Interstellar, there's a lot more than you think there is and it's all wroth watching and not having spoiled.

As for the actors, there were a few well known names. The stars of the movie were Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway. I have never actually seen a movie with Matthew in it so I really know nothing about him, but I really think that he was the perfect fit for this role and that he had performed every scene perfectly. The same goes for Hathaway as well, I don't recall ever seeing a movie with her in it, and I REALLY liked her character, in terms of fitting into the character, I think that she did just as good a job as Mathew. Matt Damon had a few scenes late in the movie and he had a few really deep and meaningful moments when he was there and the rest of the big names included Michael Caine and Casey Affleck.

The movie was really that good, I really wanted to buy the Unlimited ticket which was $15 and would let me see it as many times as I want, but I couldn't get it and once the movie is available on PSN, I am going to make sure to get it because of how awesome it is.

Great review!  I had a lot of doubts when I first saw the trailer for the movie in the theater, but after reading your review I want to watch it now!

Also, I think people underestimate the power a good soundtrack holds. The music really brings together things when it comes to movies and even TV shows.
